K, so I had a dream the other night where I had this “epiphany” about Stranger Things and I was so proud of myself 🤣 and was gushing to my mom about it in my dream (cuz my mom and I watch it together).

SO. OMG…

None of this is actually real. So many people have pointed out about Vecna messing with memories and the continuity errors in stuff… but like… this whole thing? Has just been the boys playing one long ass DND game!! And ALL of it is just the young boys on an adventure, an epic campaign and drawing from people in their lives and adding them as NPCs…

Alternatively (and I like this one even better) - it starts with just the boys in the basement and then the teens and the grownups become intrigued with their game and ask to become a part of it. So they are added and given their own character sheets to make. And every season is a new campaign. The dungeon master just keeps building on the lore more and more every season as everyone really gets into their characters and the stories. And more people join…

And then… At the end of the series… right when we’re supposed to see if Vecna is defeated… we are sent back to the regular mundane real world and see everyone in Mike’s basement (or around the wheeler’s kitchen table) and everyone is silent as they look to the head of the table to the Dungeon Master. And when he puts down the DM’s shield that’s hiding his face… We see it’s Eddie… and he announces “Vecna is defeated” and everyone erupts in celebration…

And Eddie and Will have a moment where they look at each other, because they built this story together… Eddie DM’d for every season but the 4th, when Will wanted to give him a part in the story. So they traded off DMing (Eddie for the kids, Will for the teens).

And that was my dream epiphany. I got all choked up, like OMG! EDDIE IS ALIVE!

I know it shall be shattered as soon as I watch the finale. But I’m going to cling to this while I can… Cuz maybe Bob will be there too…
