I’m confused on how Tokoyami knew to go after Hawks? He just saw fire and assumed that must mean Hawks was in danger as it’s his weakness?! Seems like too much of a coincidence/too convenient imo.
Okay no, this is so great on Horikoshi’s part actually!!! I’m sure it will be easier to understand when we get quality scans, but it actually is super cool how it all makes sense! (Sorry I get a little excited about these things lol)
The scene where Tokoyami sees fire is actually a few minutes in the past when Hawks avoids Dabi’s fire blast by going out the window and around to flank.
And Tokoyami doesn’t just see fire, he sees Hawks, or at least his trail. We may not see Hawks as he’s so fast, but the panel shows a fire trail leading back around. Which of course Tokoyami recognizes because it’s the trail he worked so hard during his internship/work study to catch up to!
That leads to Tokoyami knowing Hawks is in a literal fire fight, which is his big weakness. It also explains the time gap between him seeing the flames and arriving.
So ya, it actually makes a lot of sense why it all works. And it’s done in a showing not telling way, which is always so much cooler! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
