Lying is saying that you’re gonna do something, with absolutely no intention of ever doing it.

Promising, on the other hand, is when you said you’re gonna do something, you truly believed that you were gonna do it. Just that the next day you changed your mind. But that doesn’t matter, as long as you really meant it at the moment.

There. You merely gave her a promise, never mentioned anything about keeping it.

This blog is supposed to be both interesting and slightly academic, I try. 

I will tell my stories (hopefully accompanied by legal analysis or economic models) following the division of 4 sections:

  The title of this blog is attributed to Charles Dickens. 

Bleak House is a book of love, without much love story in it. While my impression of this book is more on the pursuit of something knowing full well that it will never happen. And even if it did happen eventually, the reason why you wanted it would have long gone along the way.

“He looks to it, flushed and fitfully, to do something with his interests and bring them to some settlement. It procrastinates, disappoints, tries, tortures him; wears out his sanguine hopes and patience, thread by thread; but he still looks to it, and hankers after it, and finds his whole world treacherous and hollow. Well, well, well! ”

Yet, there will always be a place for him in Bleak House.
