“She inconvenienced the city” - she closed down 2 streets that are already closed for various reasons 95% of the time and people who ACTUALLY live in NYC didn’t give a fuck

“She’s a billionaire why would I be happy for her” - because she’s been wanting this her entire life like any other girl who dreams of romance and getting married. She doesn’t actually have $1b in her bank account as it’s more so the value of her discography which she famously fought tooth and nail to buy back for years and will never sell. She donated $26 million (more than her wedding cost) to various charities around the country.

“But the power grid!” - she brought in independent generators that were used to power the venue so it didn’t affect the power grid at all.

“She should’ve had her wedding outside on an island or somewhere else” - she chose a venue that was big enough for her guests as well as secure enough to keep paps and weirdos out in the city WHERE SHE LIVES.

“She’s so weird and made everything about her” - last I checked the wedding is supposed to be about the bride & groom

“Can’t believe she got married on a Friday” - it was a holiday weekend and how many people do you think were there that have a 9-5. Taylor and Travis are not your average people and 99% of the guest list was A list celebrities. Also I’m a normie and got married on a Friday I don’t see the issue this is a normal thing people do.

I wanted a particular book (Geronimo Stilton, Kingdom of Fantasy series) so bad, but ofc there's no free pdf download and just for kicks, decided to see if the app store had any. Oh, there was—for over 1 GRAND, FOR AN EBOOK???

Check online shopping and the HARD COPY of the same book is A THIRD OF THE PRICE!!!

When I looked some more, I found that another ebook for the same series is 1500 bucks??? But online, I found some selling the REGULAR books at 900 PER 10 BOOKS. For 1 EBOOK, I can buy 10 HARD COPIES for only 300 BUCKS MORE.

I get that through online shopping, I'm paying for a reprint and there's a risk that I might get scammed, but how is an EBOOK over 1 grand???

What am I paying for??? At least if it's online, I'm paying for reprints, covers, and shipping. But just what am I paying for on a DOWNLOAD FILE that it costs 1500???

What the hell is wrong with swifties that idolize her? This is infatuation, NOT a casual like.

For me, learning that Taylor and Travis got engaged and then married made me happy for her. Her discography has made it VERY CLEAR that marriage means a lot to her, and everything she's gone through over the years makes her getting married a meaningful moment for us Swifties.

On that note though, did I celebrate when she got married? Not really. I saw the news, thought "Oh, good for her!", and moved on with my life. I was happy that she finally got what she wanted—marriage—but for the most part, life still went on for me.

Hello as your resident Swiftie I thought I’d take some time to annoy the #antiswifties on her and dispute some misinformation going around about the wedding that just happened between Taylor and Travis.

1. She did not invite ICE to her wedding.

The claim is that she invited Steve Demetriou Sr. to her wedding, Amentum executive. Amentum is responsible for overseeing operations at an ICE detention facility. However people are getting Sr. Confused with his son Jr. (they have the same name). Steven J. Demetriou jr. And Reggie (there adoptive son) are Travis’ childhood friends and did attend the wedding. However there is no verifiable evidence that Demetriou senior attended the wedding. “But he’s listed as a guest.” Yes many guest lists online have been listing father and son interchangeably, but none have listed both. We know Demetriou jr. Did attend because he spoke to reporters Sr. Most likely was not there. “What about the picture of his dad going around?” Thats a grid lock photo of the family from an entirely different event.”

Also a few more things you should know about the father

- he doesn’t oversee “ice operations” he retired before his company Jacobs merged with Amentum (the company that currently oversees ICE operations).

2. Taylor and Travis used so many public resources including tax payer dollars on the day of her wedding.

- that’s not true, organizers of private events are required to reimburse the city for police services. Large events, film shoots, and more require street closure in nyc locals know it’s part of living here and know she didn’t have three blocks closed it was small area near MSG mainly used by pedestrians during a weekend where everyone leaves for the holiday.

3. She contributed to the cities power outages.

MSG has its own power generators, back up power generators, etc…meaning she’s not contributing whatsoever to the electrical power grid. Not to mention the power outages were nation wide.

4. The venue was tacky.

Okay that’s more of an opinion. The thing is a blank space like msg can be turned into whatever you want, but honestly I think weddings by nature are just tacky might as well do what you want.

5. She wanted attention she kept saying she wanted a secret, private wedding and had it somewhere like Madison square garden.

so there’s a difference between private and secret. It definitely was private cause days later we’ve hardly seen/know anything. However her being one one the most famous popstars were going to find out about it no matter what. “Tom holland and Zendaya kept it secret”, stop trying to pretend they’re the same level of celebrity.

6. “She walked down the aisle to her own song, she sang during her vows, she made it all about herself, she just wants attention how tacky.”

Again, weddings by nature are tacky. Also, weddings are supposed to be about the bride and groom. She’s the only bride I know of that people expect to not make her wedding day about her.

This perfectly encapsulated what I felt about the weird discourse surrounding the Taylor-Travis wedding.

Also a Swiftie, but definitely not the kind that stands at the barricades of MSG, screaming incoherently in broiling heat. It's more like, I love her music and admire her as a person, but for the most part, I don't really keep up with the social news around her.

Imo, the people judging her wedding don't have a right to judge just because she's a celebrity. If she wants a big fancy bash at MSG, then that's her perogative. Being a celebrity doesn't mean she has to circle every event around how her fans will react.

To add to your list, especially about the MSG venue, I feel like critics are also largely underestimating the crazier part of her fanbase. Even with police, barricades, and shut-down streets, people still crowded around MSG despite blazing heat, just hoping to get a GLIMPSE of her. They had, at one point, stormed the wedding venue of her friend Jack Antonoff solely because she was in attendance.

I don't use the term lightly. She is continuously gaslighting Adrien regarding Gabriel, even strongarming the people who knew Gabriel to be her accomplices. She had Alya lie in her place because she didn't want to do the dirty work.

She doesn't trust Adrien. Sublimation happened because she was afraid Adrien would replace her with Sublime, despite supposedly knowing him on a deep level. She shattered his rings in Werepapas, risking killing him in the process, because the previous lucky charms didn't give her the answers she wanted to hear, despite that not being how lucky charms worked. She admitted both in Mister Agreste and Heartfixer that she's more concerned with her guilt, her difficult emotions over Adrien's grief, to where in the former, she was going to uproot his life again to make herself feel better (Nathalie rightfully shut that down), and in the latter, she hides the letter from him. Oh, and she tried to talk him out of therapy.

She's his abuser now. Abuse isn't just physical wounds and scars. Ultimately, it's about control, even if you think it's for their own good. She is controlling him. I can't believe Astruc made his flagship romance an abusive romance, and I'm doubly baffled he wants the viewer to agree with her.

Sometimes, a character can be unknowingly toxic towards their love interest, whether that's isolating them emotionally, sabotaging outside relationships due to jealousy, even just forgetting that the love interest is going through their own stuff and can't spend all their time managing the character's emotions.

Marinette can still be a good person, but also someone who's unknowingly toxic towards Adrien. That's where writing comes in handy, redeeming Marinette while holding her accountable, as well as justifying and vindicating Adrien.

Hi! It’s totally okay!! Omg I’m happy that you find some comfort in my small rant (literally the first post I’ve made in like years, I mostly just reblog things afsgshdg). Being a Kalim fan is genuinely like being a soldier in this fandom when people keep ignoring him in favor of others, even when they have their posts started WITH Kalim 😭 literally so disrespectful. With Minajael I think we have to watch people pushing Kalim aside in favor of Mina 💀 already I’ve seen people saying Kalim doesn’t understand Mina’s burdens… even tho he is the one person so far to talk, compliment and express concerns about him. I honestly hate it here.

This dismissal of Kalim’s character is something I’ve seen even big voices in the fandom do this too, so I get that it’s very draining. I honestly just retreat to my own space with other Kalim/ Scarabia fans to avoid drama. I would say from my experience I’ve encountered more bad Kalim takes on Tumblr than on Twitter, shockingly enough (don’t even think of TikTok lol). So I would say there are dedicated Kalim fans out here defending him (fighting for their lives to do so). We’re small but we’re mighty lol, some of their stuffs are very fascinating to read.

Kalim is one of my favorites because of how complex he is. Does the Scarabia fandom not realize how hard it is to go through that shit and still keep believing in the world? To be betrayed by the person you trusted most, still defend him against an entire dorm, fight his bitch-ass in a dream, and THEN, try and build a relationship with that same person!

Not only that, but despite his own flaws, Kalim is one of the rare exceptions to the whole, "Night Raven College students don't work together". Man managed to rally an entire dorm (without knowing it) and keep them from devouring Jamil alive. He's genuine, resilient, and actually cares about the people around him.
