It was sickening how obsessed they were with each other. Is what anyone else would say. But it was normal to Ambrosine.

She was created out of their love. At least, that's what they always said. If they didn't love each other so much, she wouldn't exist. Her sister wouldn't exist. Her brother wouldn't exist. All because they loved each other so much.

It sounded like some magical, fantastical thing. Love. It could create life, apparently.

She felt it too. She loved her mom and dad. She loved her big sister. She loved... Sure, she loved her brother.

And he "loved" her too, like sibling should. Right? Is this what love is? Cruelty?

No... It was a mockery.

Love was not like that. Love was suffocating... In a good way! Her family said so. The shows she watched said so. The world said so. Other siblings are nicer...

He shouldn't be alive. He could not have been made from love.

So she... Took care of it.

She didn't really understand what she did. But he was gone. Before she knew it, everyone was together. All dressed in black.

The casket had to stay closed.

Things were supposed to be fine after that. But the entire world fell apart. Her parents were fighting. Her sister ignored her. It made no sense. She got rid of that thing. They should be even happier now.

Her mom disappeared.

Where did she go?

Her dad drank a lot.

What was he drinking?

They must never have loved each other. How pathetic. Resentful, even. How could they lie when they made it such a big deal?

No matter. She'd find her own love. And it would be perfect.

Why wasn't it working?!? Why are none of these assholes good enough?!

She gives her all, just for them to throw it back at her?! Romance is dead, clearly!

So what if she's "only" in high school. Why would everyone say her teen years would be amazing if she wasn't supposed to find the love of her life here! But of course not, none of them were right. Too stupid, too rude, too detached, not romantic enough, not dedicated enough.

Is it her? It must be. All the girls that seem to get their happy relationships are prettier... Is it her hair? Too dark? Too curly? Or perhaps it's her body, too flat, too thin.

The prettiest girls, the happiest... They have that straight, blonde hair. They have more curves. Tthe perfect tan. Pretty, unbitten nails.

All those things...

She changed herself.

Only the perfect girl can have her perfect love. Right? That must be the solution.

What was popular? Whatever it was, she'd be into it. The things she really liked went neglected, buried deep in the darkest parts of her mind...

At least, she thought she was doing good at that. Keeping her strangeness hidden. Her obsessions.

But it still didn't work.

Two years. Too many shitty exes. None even close to being perfect.

But it's going to be fine. She will find her perfect love. She has to. Maybe college will be better...

"The last backstory was rushed, I should write a new one!" I said, before rushing the new one like an idiot.

But for real this one I do think is better, I've thought more about it. And here's a few small facts I didn't manage to sneak in there

Due to Ambrosine's desperation for love, she can be quite easy to take advantage of. This has led her to date some genuinely questionable people (examples to come later)

Many of her relationships ended because of her sister butting in and stealing her dates (examples to come later)

Speaking of her sister, Ambrosine lived in her shadow always being the "worse" sister

After her mother left and her father became an alcoholic, she was primarily taken care of by her grandfather, who was very doting. As such, that's the family member she has the closest relationship to

However, her father was technically still her primary caretaker and who she had to live with. And he was a butt, of course

Her mother actually remarried to another man, and ran away to join a cult with said man

She was, in fact, really bad at hiding how strange she was
