My post-crashout actually. I started this back in October but procrastinated because Krita kept crashing and deleting my saved file. Nine fucking times. I almost gave up BUT I DIDN'T 💪💪🗣️🎉🎉

I really wanted to draw this scene with that dress from the new Mermaid Tales season, had to make it silver to fit the aesthetic. I also got rid of their cat tails, I just didn't like how they looked, I'm not good at rendering fur 😅

I'm SCREAMING. I literally drew a Mermaid Tales fan comic when I was 12 and the entire premise was Aph and Aaron going to a ball and dancing. This is the closest it'll ever be to fulfilling my pre-teen wish.

The rest is never seeing the light of day, I'd like to persevere a fraction of my dignity.

It's also written in Spanish, (I cannot be bothered translating) and it somehow becomes a PopularMMOs crossover and I'm not ready to unpack that.

Ngl, it's kinda cute so I'm tempted to rewrite and redraw it.

I was not expecting Mermaid Tales of all series to drop new episodes first but I'm so happy idc, I'm glad to see this story expand.

I like to draw season 1 Aphmau more pale since she's been under water for so long and hasn't seen the surface or sunlight. As she stays longer on the surface her skin tans, and her hair and tail become lighter due to the sun (like her seashell bra getting sun bleached)

Kinda scared to post this cause this is probably a super unpopular opinion 😅 But Michi and Laurence is not bad in concept.

I like the idea of them being the dysfunctional on-again-off-again exes. Idk, their relationship in PDH season 2 stuck with me. Michi actually had a different role that didn't involve her being unnecessarily evil to everyone, and it's the closest Laurence ever got to freeing himself from Aphmau's harem.

Disastrous Christmas party (context): Michi went there to get Laurence's attention by flirting with Reese (she knows it will get on his nerves). Laurence is NOT jealous, but he helped Aphmau and KC pick out the gift for Reese back at the Mall, so he is aware of KC's feelings for Reese. He's angry that Michi would go out of her way to hurt KC just to get his attention.

I HATE how Michi is written, she's funny enough to get away with the things she does in season 1 (like everyone else) but the way they wrote her for season 4 onwards was unforgivable.

Aphmau at Donna's wedding. She hasn't danced before so she's probably a little out of rhythm. I was so focused on motion that now she's perpetually stuck on generic toothpaste advert smile 😔

My head canon is that My Street takes place in Arkansas USA because that one reddit post points out that the PDH map is based on a school there. And O'Khasis is in the UK because I said so.

Also Gene is a college drop out, he's just there for the shits and giggles.

MS Dante being such a player in high school can be easily explained by the fact that (Unlike MCD Dante) Gene was actually a present person in his life.

Explaining why Zane keeps changing skin tone so much:

- Pale Zane (Season 1) He doesn't go outside much, he got severe vitamin D deficiency.

- Sick Victorian Zane (after season 4) He has a little bit of trauma from being brainwashed by Ein, got really depressed, dropped a lot of weight and stopped going outside. This is like the saddest version of him, this is also when he starts getting close to KC.

- Healing Zane (season 5) Gained some weight back and also started going outside again, that's why he looks tanner.

I was gonna do another drawing of Zane and Kawaii-chan during season 2. (but I got lazy, here's the sketch tho)

For the Aarmau fans (me, I'm an Aarmau fan) But I've never been as enthusiastic about it. I was DEVOTED to Garmau, then jumped ship when he got manipulated at the end of season 1, and I also jumped ship with Larmau after that abysmal wedding. Genuinely didn't want to get attached to any new pairings just in case and I was RIGHT because they killed Aaron. But this ship stuck with me because of how depressing it ended.

Anyway, rant aside. In front of people they're serious and focused, and when they're alone together they match each other's freak a little too well.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I showed this to my sister and she said he looked like hasn't showered in 2 weeks and that was EXACTLY what I was going for 🫶

I agree with a lot of the criticism against Aaron's character, but after so much petty jealousy and possessiveness from the other love interest around Aphmau, I actually enjoyed his nonchalant dreadhead energy.
