Yesterday, Wednesday, June 5th marked 4 weeks post partum. Super excited that my sprout is going to be an entire month existing in this new, abundant world. On June 28th, I went to the hospital for abdominal pain. My c-section incision was pristine but around the area and my "belly" was hard to the touch and very very sore. After gastric bypass surgery in 2014 my pannus (overhanging stomach, also referred to as a "skin apron") has only increased in size with every lbs I've lost. After birth, I was carrying 19.7lbs of water weight throughout my stomach, hips, thighs, legs, ankles and feet -- lower extremities. With water, my eating habits and breastfeeding I lost all the weight plus 5lbs within 3weeks. So it was super strange to me why the lower part of my belly was still hard and showing signs of being bloated. The hospital visit resulted in a CT scan. The verdict? Constipation. Well, okay, alright. Went home still in pain and handled my sad bowels. July 5th, I went to my Bariatrics surgeon's office. Thinking that maybe my pain was due to my not so normal guts being rearranged from an unanticipated c-section. The visit resulted in a CT scan. The verdict? (Along with a motherfucking huge ass I'm-going-to-be-making-payments-for-awhile deductible) Constipation. Well.. okay, alright. I went home in even more pain, to the point I couldn't stand up while holding my child and I couldn't lay on either of my sides to sleep. Which was super difficult because my child has decided co-sleeping is the only option for sleep (I honestly love the night long closeness and being able to feed Lo immediately). Today, I went out on a limb and called my OBGYN and explained my symptoms. Stumped due to my incision not being the issue she wanted me to come in, which I did. ... she requested the CTs from the other hospitals. She called me, several hours after my appointment (she prescribed me pain pills and antibiotics). She was livid but oh so apologetic to me. The two previous doctors assumed the EIGHT inches of fluid stagnating in my belly was completely normal. Normal enough to bypass the thought and just refer to my constipation. She was so upset. Tomorrow, Friday the 7th I go in for a procedure. One in which I'm having general anesthesia for a doctor to first investigate and then hopefully drain the fluid. There's a chance it won't be a simple outpatient procedure and I might stay overnight. Honestly, I'm terrified. The infection can spread through my body and set up a world of problems. What's worst is that if I do have to stay overnight I won't have my husband or my baby and I'm just .. I'm truly fucked up over it and I'm not handling it well at all.
