We went for a Farnham local walk through Wrecclesham down to the Bourne today.

Walking through Brambleton Avenue, a former disused landfill site opposite Weydon Lane.

The grass looks so dry that even the ground underneath has cracks showing in it!

We walked out of Brambleton Park and headed towards the college.

The Weydon Christian Church building near Ryle Road is being refurbished.

We saw a delivery lorry expertly reversing on the small Greenhill Road!

We walked past the Bourne Hall in Vicarage Hill.

About the Bourne Hall:

The Bourne Hall was built in 1968 as a traditional community village hall and social event space.

Mum used to go to many disco parties at the Bourne Hall in the early 1970s!

In 1999, the bourne Hall was used by the Showshack Dance & Theatre School.

The school was established by Pauline Thomson.

It featured a custom-designed performance studio, and a large main floor for community events.

The Showshack School closed many years later in 2023. It relocated to Weydon School.

Leading up to its closure, the building had since become dilapidated over recent years.

In 2025, plans to demolish the building were approved, alongside clearing brown field for a new development of contemporary housing.

We walked down towards the Bourne, avoiding the Maine Coon Xing that lives down this small road!

Lunch on a very, very dry Bourne recreation green!

We walked down Granny Cooks path towards the Fox and went down a small path next to the cottage.

Lots of dappled light action along this path!

Local walk. Part 5.

We went into the Middle Bourne community garden, where we saw Jasper again, he was very excited to see us again.

He couldn't stop purring!

The wildlife pond is looking very shallow due to the ongoing hot and dry weather.

We walked back towards the steps onto Shortheath Road near the vets.

The Shortheath Vets used to be a convenient store called Burnt Hill Stores until 2006.

On the way back, we went to checkout the Wrecclesham history board in the bus stop.

Dad and I went to have another pickle ball game session at the Farnham sports centre in the squash court today.

After our game, we walked through Brightwell's Yard and got an ice cream from Melt Melt. 🍦😋🍦😋

Great fun!

We went into the town of Farnham today.

Due to the traffic and closed roads, we decided to park in Castle Street.

We walked into the Lion & Lamb to get my glasses checked out at the Eye Opticians.

Afterwards we walked back to Waitrose and walked past the St. Johns Ambulance building.

The building has served Farnham for many years since the 1960s.

Over the years there have been various alterations to the St. Johns building in the 1970s through to 2005. It has been empty since 2024.

The building is set to be converted into flats.

We walked on to the town past the Adult education centre and the Bishops Table, which is also been turned into flats.

The original town post office. The current one in TG Jones (formerly WHS Smith) is set to close.

We walked down Borelli walk and into Brightwells Yard, everything is looking really, really dry.

Exciting news on Brightwells House, with interior works underway for Cazaro Lounge!

The green wall still looks great, despite it being dry.

Farnham town. Part 4.

We walked up from Downing Street to the Borough to checkout the pedestrian works which have continued, removing the tarmac paths and laying the paving slabs.

We also took a trip into Elphicks whilst here.

Afterwards, we headed back up Castle Street to checkout the paving works which have been paused while works continue in the Borough.

We watched Dream Well Studios Flow (2024) today.

An amazing movie, with beautiful visual effects.

The movie plays through the eyes of a curious black cat who teams up and bonds with a group of animals to survive a huge flood in a post-apocalyptic world.

Flow was animated with the free, open source Blender animation program. Interview with director Gints Zilbalodis below:

Flow utilised Blenders real-time EEVEE (Extra Easy Virtual Environment Engine) renderer, used to quickly produce soft shadows, reflections and glowing lights.

Flow won many awards during its screening.

Unlike a lot of animated animal movies, Flow tells its story with zero dialogue. It also uses very atmospheric music.
