My parents lectured me about going into rooms to service them when it's just a man inside, telling me I need to bring someone with me for my safety or refuse to go in and and??? I can't do that without an actual reason, like they realize that right??? Like okay I don't always know when someone is flirting with me or is being creepy with me, either because I'm not fully paying attention or I'm not catching onto the subtext. Either way, it's still my job to go in the room if permitted to fulfill the guest's request. We are a full service hotel. I do automatically assume innocence when the request requires more than 5 minutes inside the room while the guest or guests are inside, and that's because it has all been fairly good! So far I haven't had a reason to call for help/backup and I hope I never will. I get their concern but I'm kinda stuck going in alone unless front desk tells me they're irritated and then comes up with me without an option to say no (which has happened once because the guy was kind of an ass on the phone). Anyway, this was just me rambling. I should probably carry more than just a Swiss army knife with me tho, to be totally honest.
