a concept I like is a bit like the owl house’s magic system, but inverted- fairies start out with highly specific powers, which slowly get more vague and elemental the more powerful they get. the idea is that there’s magic in all things, all the same, it’s just a matter of learning that Sameness, finding the common threads between moving the tides or bending sunbeams

that’s why the higher fairy forms are often elemental, because that’s the stage when fairies are starting to really expand their understanding of magic beyond their natural, born powers. a baby fairy with just-presenting magic might only be able to light small, candle-like lights, and thus be called a fairy of candlelight, then expand into more complex forms of light magic, then, if they’re lucky, master light entirely and start touching at the edges of air or fire magic. a truly profound fairy could feasibly grow past that and learn magic over all things

like yes you have the classic villains: the ancient witches attacking, Darkar doing his thing and Valtor. But then the way Hogan and Faragonda were talking to Mandragora...I suddenly just imagined how she had been a particular powerful one of the many, many minions of those big bad guys? As if the Company had had to fight a lot of battles...

Young Faragonda! Young Hogan! Even younger Griselda as a starstruck pupil who gets horrified by the war and becomes bitter! Idk, we can have everything we want??? Young Saladin, young professor Avalon!

Oritel and Marion!!! Interstellar politics, the whole Eraklyon business, but also Andros building the Omega portal, Solaria doing whatever??

Meanwhile Dapne's whole Nymph of Magix thing?? Ughhhh reading her lore makes me go insane sometimes!!! The layers! The sirenix business? How young was she when she lowkey died protecting her kingdom??

Also, when did Marion have Bloom?? Unexpected pregnancy during a war hits different!!! Okay maybe I am being liberal with the timeline myself now but ughhh the potential!!!
