In a surprise announcement this morning, the UK Government has confirmed that Birmingham has been officially recognised as better than London following a “comprehensive national review”.

The decision reportedly considered factors including cost of living, friendliness, green space, commute times - and “general vibe”.

A spokesperson said: “While London remains important, Birmingham consistently outperformed in key areas. It was, quite simply, an easy decision.”

Early plans include updating national maps, with Birmingham marked as the UK’s “primary city” and London noted as “still fine, just a bit much”.
