A 'first' winter arctic tern hanging out on the sandy flats at Cupsogue Park yesterday.  Up to four arctic terns, both adults and youngsters were seen hang among the common terns 

bet you didn't know that the periodical cicadas have an STD.... the fungus Massospora cicidina is the only organism that has exclusively evolved along with the 17-year cycle of the magicicadas
