Unpopular opinion, I think having safe medical procedures done on people with BIID who experience extreme distress from their disorder is not only the best route of care, but also morally correct.
I would rather a person willingly get a limb amputated than kill themself because of their disorder. If your only argument against this is "but being disabled is terrible!" You are ableist.
still alive and kickin btw.
Hey due to a small rabbit hole I fell down I wanna speak some thoughts.
People with BIID are so fucking valid. I don't have it but like - I want those folks with it to know I support whatever they choose to do.
There's something so odd about BIID discourse and treatments and such. I've only scratched the surface so I can't have much of an opinion but-
If you seek out psychiatric treatments and ways to relieve the symptoms without surgery, I support you. If you are someone who has tried all they can and end up still needing surgeries to feel comfortable, I support you. If you can't do anything about your BIID yet, I hope you're able to find treatments/things to aid you.
And as someone who may be trans and has been looking into bodily autonomy discourse years due to debates - bodily autonomy should be granted to everyone. Even if the decisions make you cringe or you can't understand. Even if they don't make sense.
BIID itself is a disability and disorder. And if we're striving for a world that is accepting of disabilities, we need a world that will openly discuss and help those with BIID.
And to any people who are trans with BIID - I hope you find people who take you seriously and will help you find a suitable way to maintain your meatsuit.
Okay. That's all.
Atypical Dysphoria Awareness Flag
[PT: Atypical Dysphoria Awareness Flag]
This is a flag for those who have Atypical Dysphoria (Uncommon or unusual dysphoria) and a flag to show awareness for it! This can be used by anyone who has Atypical Dysphoria or those who support those who have Atypical Dysphoria.
(ex: BIID, Xenic Dysphoria, Species Dysphoria, etc.)
Atypical Dysphoria emoji combo : 🧠🌀
[ID: none yet]

Before anyone does anything, this is not associated with TransX/TransID or Radqueers (witch should be clear by my DNI). I can’t technically stop those two groups from using it, but I want to make it clear. I do not associate with them and do not wish this flag to be that way either.
This flag is not a alternative for TransID, this is not something to collect. Again the flag is only for awareness.

btw for any of my fellow physically disabled folks who are in need of a wheelchair but can't get one, here's a list of some charities that donate them. a site that seems pretty good (can't speak from first-hand experience though) is lifenets, a site where you can individually request (donated) wheelchairs. i'd also highly recommend donating your own mobility aids that you might not need anymore

ack. feeling extra dysphoric tonight. wish i had the money to afford my wheelchair-- though even if i did have it, i wouldn't be able to use it because of my living conditions. i am moving soon so maybe there'll be a change there.
still alive, fellas. just not had any updates regarding my BIID in a while. its still pretty bad, especially tonight.
happy valentines day 🫶 didn't forget about this account ive just not been posting
What difference does it make, in the context of ableism, if someone caused their own disabilities? So what if they got cancer from smoking? So what if they got chronic pain from self-harm? So what if they have brain fog from taking drugs illegally? So what if they caused it? So what if they did it on purpose?
Like, I’m not trying to say those people don’t have different experiences. What I’m trying to say is that sometimes people, disabled or not, are so focused on this idea that “no one wants to be disabled” and “how can you treat a disabled person like that, it’s not like they caused this!,” that we forget it doesn’t fucking matter whether they did/do or did not. The ableist situations, people and systems we have to fight are still wrong and just as fucked up, no matter how, when or why we found ourselves disabled. Even if you caused your disability/ies, even if it was on purpose, you still should havd support, whatever aids would help, medicine and treatment.
And anyone reading this who caused their disability/ies? I love you. You should have all kinds of support and more. You shouldn’t have ableist people shaming you for your disability/ies, no matter how it happened. And you have and deserve a spot in the disabled community, never let anyone force you into forgetting that.
i have plans that I cannot share with you right now because the haters will sabotage me. i have plans that I cannot share with right now because the haters will sabotage me. /ref

What BIID?
Body Integrity Identity Disorder, it’s a genuine mental condition. I, admittedly, am not the best person to ask about it, as I’m not a person who knows the most about it and don’t want to (accidentally) share any misinformation.
From my understanding, it’s a disorder that, for whatever reason, causes your brain to read itself different that how you are physically. Some people with it may feel like they should have one less arm, or not be able to walk - it’s a genuine thing. It not related the transabled, or altabled, community however.
Here are some sources I found on it, but if anyone has BIID or knows more about it, please feel free to share;
Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) is a rare, infrequently studied and highly secretive condition in which there is a mismatch between
