Have you heard Big Wave Riders Endless Summer album?
WYMA: âI struggled to choose favorite tracks because it all sounds so very good. I was thrilled when I learned that Big Wave Riders were delivering a new album, and I expected it to be good. Â What I didnât expect is that the boys would vastly exceed my expectations. Â Endless Summer is the perfect way to extend the season well into the Autumn chill.â
Clunk Magazine: âTheir latest track âCrest Of A Waveâ is a hook laden belter that is silky smooth and oozing cool. The band explain the song as âAbout ochrasy, the feeling that everything is possible and open for exploration. Not always waiting for something more but truly living in the moment.â
JAJAJA: âThe songâs subject matter is urban fatigue: the creeping weight which grows on you when you start seeing concrete in your dreams, and have to get out for a spell and, according to the bandâs release information, âfind a temporary haven in the sun and the need to believe in something againâ. Itâs built upon swooping guitar lines and thumping drum beats, and even dabbles in a little bit of a Stone Roses-esque funk groove on the outro.â
Levy Paivassa: âErityisiĂ€ onnistumisia ovat poprokkausta painottavat, kirkkaasti soivilla kertosĂ€keillÀÀn valloittavat While Youâre Half a World Away ja What You Do Is up to You ja baggya henkivĂ€ A Head Full of Attitude, mutta myös levyn loput biisit ovat hyvĂ€llĂ€ tasolla.â
Super 45: âIndie pop, rock y sintetizadores te arman un verano eterno desde la frĂa Helsinki.â
Mugbite âSpin Endless Summer, the excellent new albumâ
MIMR Daily: ââEndless Summerâ LP released last month is a uplifting summery affair with sweet-kissed guitars, bouncy vocals and grooves you can swagger all day long to.â
Eardrums Music: ââŠthis new album is very, very good. This is big-sounding indie/indiepop made with 2 guitars, bass and some really groovy drums, combined with some irresistible melodies and a good touch of reverb. Didnât I mention the vocals? Warm, rich and very pleasing for the ears, and the backing vocal harmonies are also wonderful.â
Emerging Indie Bands: â⊠the first track to surface from the forthcoming album â Escaping The City has a more dreamy texture than earlier material. Slimmed down from a quintet they have conversely expanded their sound with the synths taking a prominent role in music which is given its lustre through slowing down of pace and the electronics expanding and evolving to form the rolling waves of sound.â
Austin Town Hall: âI love the maturity the band have shown, hitting various touchstones that I adore, particularly in the realm of great guitar pop like âCrest of a Waveâ or upbeat pop numbers like âFlipping the Bird.â Youâll even hear some fuzzier psych influenced tracks lurking around, so music nerds will get a little bit of it all from this album. Itâs soaked in an essence of cool, begging for you to get hip to the Finnish bandâs sound.â
New Song Of the Week: âSquealing guitars, building momentum, catchy licks and playing with lots of fun. The title of their new album Endless Summer is therefore a perfect reflection of how their music should feel: once started youâd wish their summery tunes would never end.â
Mix It All Up: ââCrest Of A Waveâ exudes a fun energy and clings to the final moments of summer with sometimes warped vocals, plus occasional reverb saturated guitars. The track is about not always waiting for something to happen and just living in the moment, which is summed up perfectly by the crescendo of instrumentation towards the end of the track.â
The Revue: âThe song is a groovy scorcher and the definition of a summer anthem with its wailing guitars, euphoric chorus, and infectious melodies. It breathes optimism in a time of turmoil, exploding with youthful energy and the sense of invulnerability. For a few minutes, free your mind and escape into Big Wave Ridersâ world, and let your inner child go.â
In Between Songs: âThe band says this song is about escapism and âfeeling you need to get away from all the heavy things we are facing in our personal lives and as a societyâ. Really, Big Wave Riders? Youâre really doing this to me now? When Iâm up to my ears in all those âheavy thingsâ I need to get done? They really want you to tune out the world, donât they. Here people are trying to keep up with deadlines and write some masterâs thesis that theyâve, ahem, put on hold for a couple of years and Big Wave Riders just come waltzing in all like âHey man, relaaaaxâ, âChill out and enjoy lifeâ. Youâve got some nerve, Big Wave Riders, putting out a track like this all of a sudden. I canât just escape, thereâs too much to dooo!â
One Quart Magazine: âthe songs experiment with rhythms, harmonies and textures, still retaining that direct pop sensibility the band is known for.The summerâs coming to an end, but donât worry, this is an Endless Summer.â
Soundi: âToisaalta Rebel Without A Causen raivokkaaksi yltyvĂ€ kertosĂ€e ja vaikkapa While Youâre Half A World Awayn upeat kitarat osoittavat, ettĂ€ Big Wave Riders pystyy parhaimmillaan vaikka mihin.â
