Steddie where Steve's dad hears about his son's weird codependent friendship with Al Munson's boy and thinks the two of them have been fooling around in secret. The man gets pissed.

He drives back home and demands Steve break things off with the Munson kid.

Steve gets pissed.

"I'm not gonna break things off, I love him!!" Steve yells before he stomps out through the door and drives away without looking back.

A few minutes later he's at the Munson's. Steve doesn't even bother with knocking, Wayne's more than used to his presence by now, so he just opens the door and go straight to Eddie's room.

"My dad thinks we are dating and demanded that I break things off with you, but I refused and told him I loved you. Do you wanna date me just to piss him off?"

Eddie, who had been stuffing his face with chips as he read some comics in his bed, shrugs. "Do I get to touch your tits?"

"They are not tits!"

"Do I get to touch them anyway?"

"I guess that's reasonable dating behavior, so yes."

"Okay." Eddie puts down the comic book and wipes his hands on his pants. "Now take off your shirt and come here."

Benson Young is an Omega who hides his designation because he feels like it makes him vulnerable. He does everything in his power to never let on to anybody what his designation is. He refuses to be a stereotype of a 'proper' omega. Won't make himself small or soft. Won't submit to anybody. Doesn't let himself purr, doesn't let himself nest. Wont even let his Ma scent him. If it makes him tense and irritable tk deny himself comfort, who cares? At least he isnt making himself weak.

Still, despite his best efforts the one instinct he cant crush is the desire to nurture and care for the things important to him. To get his mom smokes, to feed the stray dog in his neighborhood, and to keep a close eye on Randy Bradley.

Randy Bradley is a Beta, has spent his entire life believing that. Has been comfortable with it. He likes blending in, staying under the radar. Doesnt want the extra attention that would come with being an Omega, and he's sure if he did present thats what he would be. But then all his coworkers die in front of him, hes being driven around and coached by the man who shot them. And suddenly his skin starts feeling too tight. Smells are so much stronger. He's tense, and he wants to sink his teeth into something. The stress of the whole incident sends him into a very late presentation, and despite what he, and everyone else would have assumed, hes presenting as an alpha.

Its a surprise when his new instincts don't make him want to lash out and dominate. He thoughts that what happened when you became an alpha. But instead the only thing screaming at him all day, is that he needs to keep people safe. And at some point, the main person he wants to protect becomes Benson.

Do not listen to that voice, for it is the devil.

I have a lot of feelings about Psych. A black male lead that doesn’t fall into stereotypes. A cop-adjacent show that doesn’t prop up the police as infallible or even necessarily good. A genuinely compelling m/f romance that wasn’t forced. Not textually queer but the undercurrent of queerness isn’t treated like a joke (mostly). A complicated father-son relationship that doesn’t paint either party as irredeemable. A cast of main characters that are clearly neurodivergent but are accepted with love. A comedy show that doesn’t shy away from serious emotions when it needs to.

I have a lot of feelings about Psych.
