Melancholic William for an AU I can't seem to stop thinking about

If you're curious, it's about an alternate universe were William, from the very start of his consciousness, knew that his fate would lead him to become a serial killer, the which breaks his mental health and ruins his relationship with almost everyone he was, is, or will be close to.

I have mixed feelings about this AU cause, both, it's something terrible for someone to go through... But it also feels wrong to have sympathy for William.

So basically, how this whole thing works is that for his whole life, William would experience some sort of flashback (or I guess, flashfowards?) to one of the haunted kid's murder, specifically Charlie, whenever he'd experience an intense emotion, wether it be positive or negative.

This had wrecked him since childhood causing him to basically fear having emotions and thus distancing himself from his friends and family (his parents were somewhat already neglectful back then which didn't help the situation). He didn't want to become a murderer, he feared that he'd eventually turn crazy and that that's what would cause him to kill people, he thought that if he lived the rest of his life as some sort of apathetic being things would turn out alright, or at least... better than the alternative.

He proceeded to grow up distant from everyone, friendships fell apart, family members started disowning him, he was all alone by college. He originally wanted to dedicate a career in acting and theatre but pushed himself away from it to economics. But he still somehow ended up meeting a specific student who was in theatre, her name was Laura, and she would become his future wife.

She was the only person who really made an effort to get close to William, and despite his initial resistance, he rapidly caught feelings for her, and they started forming a relationship. It was all going pretty good, after so many years of isolation and a hollow feeling following him, he had found someone he could get close to...

But unfortunately, love is an intense emotion.

He was starting to follow that seemingly un breakable traditon of distancing, which Laura wasn't going to take, she did everything she could to get William to talk to her, vent to her, whatever it'd take to stop them from losing each other, which luckily worked. And they continued being together, doing their best to be able to fight against the inevitable obstacles they'd have to face.

They really cared for each other... and I really wanna give this story a happy ending but idk??? should I??? would it be anticlimactic??? Anyways, there's a lot more to this AU, I haven't really detailed Laura's personal story of even mentioned Henry, so hey, maybe I'll work on it more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
