(victoria justice, she/they + demi-girl, 25) | well of course youâve heard of (bianca navarro), right? they are a  (first year grad student) year student living in (town) taking (visual arts) at rye university, and as per the blinds, they are like (the first glimpse of sunlight in the dawn, a cherubic smile, doodles along a page margin), but that may just be because they know (redacted).Â
And another one.
Name: Bianca Wren Navarro
Nickname: Bee
Pseudonym: Lake Falcon (A nature based name and her motherâs maiden name make up her pen name)
 TLDR:Â
Growing up surrounded by art, Biancaâs heart was always in a fantasy world. Daydreamer extraordiannarie, she ran to hide in the imaginary while the real world wasnât so kind. Art was her escape... until it wasnât. She feared not being able to survive off of art, and kept her passion alive through street murals and graffiti. After going to school for Communications, it dawned on her that wasnât the world she wanted to be in. While working at an art gallery, she was encouraged to go back to school to pursue her passion. That led her to Rye where sheâs a first year grad student (on a scholarship), rediscovering her love for art.
TW bullying, slight gender dysphoria
Bianca grew up in one of the artistic capitals of the country. Surrounded by bright colors, murals, and constant creativity, she grew up knowing how to lean into what makes you you. If that means an impulse hair dye session? So be it. Glittery shoes with bits of dollar store glitter falling off? Perfect. She learned how to be an individual from day one, even when it meant that she stood out.
Now thatâs where the problem began⊠The girl grew up painfully shy. Her parents worried about their little girl who spent hours and hours among the paint palettes and sheets instead of with the other kids. When she went to the playground, she was more likely to be found drawing shapes in the sandbox than rallying around in a game of tag.
They let it pass, letting Bee become who she wanted to be, but always keeping an eye on it. Eventually the girl found her voice and began mingling with others⊠not without bumbling and tripping over her own words. She was awkward almost to a fault. A quirk that didnât leave her behind in adulthood.
Even as she grew up, Bianca loved leaning into the fantasy worlds she built. They were more fun when the skies were filled with cotton candy clouds and bubblegum mountains. Where blue was green and yellow was pink. Where the world could be whatever she wanted. Yes, she learned that she had to live in reality, but her daydreams became her favorite place.Â
It morphed into a youthful energy that follows her to this day. A wide, doe-eyed stare. Hearts and stars on the back of her phone case. Childish sensibilities buried into an adult body. And you know what? She liked it that way.
TW bullying: As she grew older, as kids became meaner, as the world became colder⊠art stayed her escape, but she learned it couldnât be her world. The voices in her head (and outside of it) told her that she wasnât good enough. Self-confidence faltered. Enthusiasm crippled⊠and she decided art couldnât be the life that she wanted it to be.
Art was always there for her, even when she tried to push it away. She loved the feeling it gave her, the rush of excitement for building something out of nothing. So she kept it close, yet hidden. Near, yet far. A pseudonym became her own: Lake Falcon (inspired by her almost-middle name and her motherâs maiden name respectively). The scrawled name found its way into journals and notepad. A stylized version on walls.. Yes, on walls. Graffiti and mural art became a way to let her voice out into the world. To be loud but to still hide. To be herself without anyone needing to know. It was the best of both worlds.
So she decided to make it âpracticalâ... as much as she could. She went off to Pratt Institute in New York City. A school with a vibrant design presence, where sheâd get her creative juices flowing everyday. One where she could take Communications as a major and still get to play around with paint under her fingernails.Â
Communications was the route sheâd stayed with all four years. Getting internships and a job right out of college. There were pieces of the art she loved in campaigns and development, though it all felt sterile. Too controlled. Her happiness was dying and she had to get it back.
So she quit her job as a Communications Designer and poured everything into making a portfolio. Paint, sketches, you name it. She did all she could. Assisting at an art gallery, going to shows, submitting to magazines. Everything to try and bring that spark back.
One day, her gallery curator told her about a university that she could try and get into. A place where she could make sure she had all the basics of making a career out of art, while still being able to hone her skills. A place where she could be herself and finally chase what had been inside of her for so long.
That place? Rye University. Much to her surprise, Bianca got in. With a scholarship too (the gallery paid enough to barely make her rent, definitely not enough for school). Sheâs still trying to shed the awkward, too-small-for-your-skin feeling, and let the artist within finally blossom.
TW gender dysphoria: Ryeâs given her a chance to begin to explore her own personal identity without being tied to a hometown or company, and sheâs begun to tiptoe around what it really means to feel like a woman. At times, Bianca feels like a concept. Other days, an art piece. Some days, just existing. Sheâs begun to question if she really defines herself as all elements of âwomanâ and through that, decided to take on she/they pronouns as she navigates it.

âyeah, thankfully, sebastian got me home safe so no worries there.â she reaffirms with a nod of her head, smiling at bee. teddy was nevertheless appreciative of beeâs similar concern for her friends to get home safe, knowing that had she not been as drunk as she was, she wouldâve done the same. âyeah, itâs nice to not be sore. although iâm not sure âgetting in a fight with my step-sisterâ classifies as a cool story.â smiles, not allowing herself to think about how sheâd openly called louisa her step-sister. âiâve never thought about it like that, but i like that. and youâre right.â
âGood. Iâm glad youâre okay,â Bee echoed again, even though sheâd already uttered the phrase. âI donât know if Iâm going to go to another party for a little bit... at least not one like that.â Quiet, chill movie nights were more her speed. âOh... Uh, yeah. Family drama.â An uncomfortable laugh, as the other didnât really know what to say. âIf you look hard enough you can find art in everything.â
He expects her words to bring an abrupt flashback, one that shows him in full motion what he said or did but nothing happened. His memories of that night, especially that late night remained a mystery. Remorse settles in his stomach and spreads all over him, even if heâs not entirely sure what is that he feels guilty for. âIâm sorry.â The apology feels empty for he doesnât know exactly what heâs apologizing for but heâs ready to admit whatever crime Bee is imposing on him. âI donât really remember much of that night andâŠâ His chest feels so tight as if someone was sitting on it. âI didnât mean it.â Or maybe he did. After all, he has no idea what he said that was so bad.Â
âI understand.â His tone drips with nothing but defeat. Eyes follow her as she sits on the bed and heâs about to take the jacket and leave when he notices the canvas. âIs that⊠Meadow?â he asks, looking back at Bee. Probably not. Not everything revolved about him. âIâll just take my jacket and leave.â
.
Did that make them feel better or feel worse? Hearing that he didnât really want to mean what he said? Because Bee didnât know what they wanted. To know those words were real or to hear that it was all part of a twisted dream? Itâd be nice to be told that they were beautiful, words that they didnât hear often... but from her friend? That was a territory that felt dangerous, unknown, and one they wanted to run from. Especially with people like Elyse teasing her over a crush that didnât exist. âIt wasnât... Bad. It was unexpected.â There. âWe needed some space after that. Uh. People talk.â
Hearing the defeat in his voice shattered their heart, hoping that the pain in the tone wasnât her fault. âUm, here,â she held out the jacket, looking up at him, finally letting the eye contact hold. âHm?â Right. She forgot that was still out in plain view. The first layer of colors drying before sheâd go back in to pepper it with dimension. âIt is... Itâs Meadow.â
After pressing the same button up and then down for a good fifteen minutes, Bee decided that today was not the day to start getting into working out. She wanted to try it to clear her mind, but instead, the treadmill sat there mocking her. Too fast, too slow, too high, not high enough. Stepping off, she shook her head, âNext time.â A pause. Shit. Glancing over at her audience, cheeks went pink, âOh.. Hey, just. You know, letting the treadmill know Iâll be back.â

she likes visiting the art department, itâs a break from her own school halls and she likes seeing the vibrant pieces that demonstrate students projects in the hall. she hears soft music playing and follows it to where the raven haired girl stands in front of the canvas. she waits in the door way for a moment, not wanting to disturb the process. after a moment, she feels like she ought to say something. âhey bee, howâs the art going?â
âOh, thank god another person.â Bee turned around at the voice, a canvas of swirls and brush strokes before her. Somewhat cloud like at the right angle, absolutely meaningless at another. âWhich do you think is a better accent color? I think Iâm going blind to what looks right.â Hand held up two bottles, bringing them close to the canvas for reference.

A SCOFF ALMOST ESCAPES PAST HER LIPS as bianca tried to deny what was obvious to the world. âweâre all friends here, bee,â the nickname falls from her lips with the sweetness of spoilt milk. thereâs no motivation behind her current actions, other than maybe she just like to put people in this situation, maybe like louisa had said she did find some sort of joy in hurting others. whatever it was, she couldnât take it back now even if later on she might regret it. âyou donât?â she asks, feigning some surprise as she takes another look at the post on her screen, âhmmm⊠maybe itâs another BN then.â she puts the phone away, leaning against the chair as she crosses her arms over her chest. âthough, itâs okay if you do. i could help you with him, if you want.âÂ
âDid I say we werenât?â Bee felt the venom sliding through the words, coming into the air to sting. To wound. Some days her friendship with Elyse felt real, other days, she felt blocked in a tiny box, put there to be observed under a microscope, to see how sheâd react to her sometimes-friend playing the villain for a day. âNo, I donât. Look... Yes. I saw that post too.â Why lie at this point? âWeâre friends... We were high, and thatâs it. We sat and talked and looked at the stars. Itâs nothing past that... I, donât need any help with anyone.â He could do better. Beeâd be silly to think she was on his level
âoh my god, no. youâre not starting againâ, a determined shake of her head. âiâm sure Iâll love itâ she says, and she means it. a little piece of their brilliant head, maybe they could manage to transfer a bit of that joy and life into her soulâ once glance at the painting at a time. how she hates entitlement shoved into places that barely even question it, food complaints transformed into three different plates until theyâve met impossible standards, this famous âperfectâ concept. she gives a shrug, in her experience the things that seemed perfect, the ones that shone the brightest hid this inescapable hollowness. âdo you want the freedom or me breathing down your neck over this?â she questions with a bit of a chuckle.
âI could! Thatâs the fun of art, trying and learning new things. If you could see the number of drafts that I donât keep around, youâd be shocked.â One day Bee planned to cut them all up, making a puzzle of all the lost pieces to bring them together as something reborn. That was the problem with so many of these apartments, they lacked spirit. They lacked something that made them special, and she was determined to help soften up at least one of them. âOh... That sounds like a trick question. Is it?â
âIf Iâm being honest I donât even remember how I got here.â Did she walk? That seems unlikely but she also doesnât trust uber drivers so she is sure even if she was high, she wouldnât have taken that decision. âThen Iâll stop, blushing would just make of us uncomfortable and I donât want that this morning,â she adds before she takes another bite, every single one bringing her back to life. âI think I was fine, but every memory of the night seems so slooow. I did eat a whole package of Oreos but I will get us more today, so fret not.â Had she ever seen Bianca not sober? Probably not, so she canât even form an imagine of how that would have looked like. âHostage? What are you planning to get in return? Did he make you pay for the Uber?â Ava asks, shaking her head because truly even while intoxicated men had nothing but audacity. âAre you sure? We could burn it along with his photo and then curse him until he pays you back.â
âFuck, Ava, donât say that to me! Youâre going to get me all worried. Uh, I think I got home before you? I remember turning the lights on... but you could have been asleep. Uh, well, youâre home weâre good, and now we have breakfast.â The perfect morning... except not. âSorry.â Head dipped, trying to will it away as she pushed a straw back and forth in her coffee. âThatâs all that matters, weâre never going to be a zero oreo household.â It wasnât often that the other let her guard down, but one day, eventually, theyâd be there with Ava to experience. âNo, no, I had to type it in for him I think? Nothing? I donât want it here. Thatâs it, I want it out but I donât know what to do with it.â Littering was lame. Nose scrunched, âEw, then our whole place is going to smell like burned jacket fabric and that sounds disgusting, Ava... Would you really curse someone for me though?â That was a compliment!
âoh yeah, i got home perfectly fine,â the most confident answer sheâs managed to give about the night, almost surprising herself. though waking up beside sebastian made her sure of her response. âi think so. the swellingâs gone down quite a bit and thankfully the headaches are gone. although those were definitely partially because of the drinking. but you know, youâre right. i mean, i donât love having a black eye, but the bruising colours are nice.â
âGood, thatâs always the most important thing.â Beeâs night may have ended weirdly, but at least she got home. At least she was safe. If she could have, sheâd have made sure all her friends had someone to walk with, but obviously, the world had other plans. âGood... again. Yeah, yeah. Well, I donât love fighting, but is it a cool story at least?â Head nodded, âThe body is one of the best pieces of art in the world.â
she was sneaking out after having a hookup with an art student, she wasnât at all where she was suppose to be. she was passing the brunette and she couldnât help but notice the glitter that was held in the mural she seemed to be painting. raising an eyebrow, she joked. âwould you wear that? i would totally wear that. i love glitter everything.âÂ
âHuh? The what? Wear who?â Bee could fall into a trance when she was working on pieces, especially bigger ones. The artist was thrilled that one of the boutiques in Rye needed a statement piece. Something that would bring people in for pictures. So she was here chipping away, âItâs art glitter, itâs too rough to put on your skin, itâd cut it up... unless you mean like in a dress? Maybe? You could probably pull it off better than me. Iâm more of a neon girl. Ooh or velvet.â

âoverratedâ a quick ruling, though the tug at his lip gives away the tease. alive. a reminder of her liveliness, of the sun and wild wind she brings to his life with sometimes only written words over an otherwise mind-numbing platform. miles away. at that he smiles, a genuine one without the teasing or the bleakness in itâ hand quickly shutting the book (though with a disappointed sigh): âiâm never looking books for you ever againâ a promise with little truth in it because he would, for bianca he would. âprobablyâ danilo nods towards a door by the apartmentâs entrance, a closet full of coats and jackets and his own helmet, perhaps a lying spare too, âshould be thereâ.
"It is not and you know that,â Bee reached out and gave a light smack on his shoulder. Barely a pat, enough to make their statement know. Watching the smile appear made her fake anger melt away, a smile of their own lighting up. âYou should do that more, it suits your face.â Itâd been enough years for her to know that would never happen. âOkay, then Iâll come look for them myself.â Standing up, the easy path through his apartment backed that statement up. It was like her own place. âFound it! Itâs so... boring. What if someone, you know, maybe decided to paint it?â
âIâve noticed.â Mai was often out and about at this hour, even if she loved sleeping in. But sleeping while skipping class felt like a waste of time, so instead sheâd be somewhere admiring the world, as long as she had a coffee in hand. It wasnât something sheâd necessarily point out to someone else though, and so she couldnât help but arch her brows as she stared at Bee for a moment. âThough I prefer not to think too much this early in the morning.â A lie, but a fluent one. âI prefer to enjoy coffee and pastriesâ, she added, holding up her cup. âDonât tell me youâve already been out and about this early?â
âItâs special, it makes everything feel ethereal. Sometimes if you hit it just right, thereâs that light mist over the world.â Bee let out a sigh, wistful at the very thought, âItâs like weâre living inside of a cloud.â Nature really could do some wonderous things. âLooking at the world isnât thinking, itâs absorbing it.â Swirling her cup of coffee, the other gave a small smile, âPastries are one of the best things. What did you get today?â Shrugging, âI couldnât sleep.â
Ice cream healed all wounds. That was how it worked. Ice packs for outside bruises, ice cream for inside ones. Bianca didnât make the rules. Waiting outside of Gaelâs door, hand rapped in a little knocking pattern that theyâd adopted as their own. A little signature. âGael? Donât tell me you ran away...â There were a lot of questions she had about how he was feeling after the Valentineâs Day ordeal, but they couldnât all be thrown at her friend at once. By now, they knew that wasnât a good idea. âTheyâre gonna run out of all the good cones.â

There was not a lot to pride about the way he was raised but if his junkie parents had taught him something was how to deal with conflict and how to work it out. The problem here was that he wasnât entirely what was the conflict so he couldnât even begin to form a way to solve it.
But maybe he was being paranoid, some extra long lasting effects of that tab he had taken at the party. The thought of him helped him release some of the anxiety he had been carried but it was cut short when Bee came out and his suspicions were confirmed by the way she struggled with her words. It didnât take to be a bloody mind reader to know that something was off. âI totally get that, you donât need to give me an explanation,â he assured her with a nervous smile. He follows her lead as he mentally tries to come up with a way to bring up the topic of the party, hoping he can find some clues as to what had happened. He leans against the doorâs frame and while he had a plan to carefully approach all this, he throws it overboard. âAre you mad at me? Did I do something that night that upset you?âÂ
Talking things through wasnât hard for Bee, once she got to yapping, everything poured out. It was figuring out the actual words were that were her challenge. How did she tell her best friend that she was upset because he complimented her? It probably didnât mean anything. Right? Maybe she was paranoid.
âNo... Not really. Just. You said uh. You said things, I didnât expect and I think it was better for us to have some space.â To still have space? Bee sat down on her bed, the canvas across the way of Meadow. âThat party was a lot and I think the like, the whole week was needed for me to recharge my social battery.â Not a lie.â
âI liked it when I was a kid.â It was the truth, when she was innocent in the sandbox and her & bambi were friends, nothing such as social class or money could separate them. then she grew in a crooked way, poor in a rich town. she grew hungry and bitter, wanting to escape the feeling of being less than because she had more holes in her clothes. a scruffier way of being. A chuckle breezes from her lips, she canât help it she constantly wants to pull more art out of Bee and this was a communal canvas. âTwo years ago. I was first year.â
âAnd now... you donât?â Bianca attempted to fill in the blank with the unspoken words. It was a small town, barely a year in and the crushed weight of being somewhere where all had their eyes on you was weighing on her. She missed being a short run from the beach, from the museums, from everything that made Ojai exciting. But it was worth it, for the experience... Thatâs what she told herself. âDreaming big, I like that. Has it served you well?â

âCats literally are the most relaxing animals to be around. Any time they purr, I think all of my insecurities melt away.â Bee nodded, sitting close to the cat, not caring that it was on the ground. The chirps made them smile even wider, her own echoed âHello!â in a higher pitch to match. âIâd appreciate that, but only if you trust me, I understand itâs a big responsibility.â Being in Linacre always felt a little reminder of the money she didnât come from, but she liked Leonâs place. It was cozy. âIt could be... better. Iâve felt like a bug under the microscope all week.â
WITH : bianca navarro ( @biancanavarrosââââ )
LOCATION : biancaâs place
Itâs been a couple of days since the party and while his memory is still trying to put pieces together from that night, he does remember where he ended it. The morning after he sent a text to Bianca to thank her for taking him in while he waited for his Uber, but in the following days he noticed a drop in their communication and now he was concerned that something had happened that night that he simply couldnât remember. With the excuse of picking up his jacket, he headed over to her place to maybe find out what was wrong. A knock on the door and a very uncomfortable conversation with Biancaâs roommate later and he was waiting for her in the living room. âHey,â he says at the sight of Bee, standing up from his seat. âI tried texting you but I guess youâve been busy, Iâm just here for my jacket.â
A twist of fate, a wave of good luck, and Bee was handed an excuse that didnât need any embellishing. They didnât need to yank at the strings of the world to figure out a story that theyâd have to keep track of. Paint flecks dusted their fingernails, a few stray brush strokes on the edge of their jaw from resting their head in hand in concentration.Â
When Ava came to fetch her, sheâd been shoveling some food into her mouth to get a little energy before diving back into her art. Takeout in hand, words tumbled out between bites. âHi... Yeah, Iâve been working on some things. Uh... Yeah. When I get in art mode, the world disappears.â It was true. Sheâd forget to sleep, go outside, if it wasnât automatic sheâd probably forget to breathe. âWhat do you ne- Oh, yeah, uh. Yeah. Your jacket.â Hand moved slightly to instruct him to follow as she walked towards her room to grab it. Trying to actively not talk to Mikel had been agonizing, but distance was needed. After what he said at the party, she knew this was the only way to protect their friendship.
