so just over a month ago i think iāve started having panic attacks. for no reason and seemingly out of nowhere i start getting really nervous, my heart starts racing, i feel dizzy and sort of nauseous, i feel really disconnected from reality, and i can barely speak a full sentence to the people iām with. it always happens when iām around other people, and it lasts about 10 minutes or more. iāve had five since it started. the problem is that two of them happened when i was eating with others and now eating with other people who arenāt my family makes me nervous. i just donāt really know what to do about this whole situation?
you guysā¦ i have this little thing going with this guy i met a couple days ago, and heās so sweet? like heās so nice oml. we went to a party and he spent most of the time at the grill just cooking and taking peopleās orders and it was so cute. and he kept on checking in on me and making sure i was okayš„° idk heās just really sweet and i have no idea why heās being so nice to me lmao. i feel like iām maybe not his type like he deserves someone better and idk if i should continue this thing with himā¦ i guess iāll see where it goes it might just be a hookup situation
i went through the same things when i first started uni, i think it took me a couple of weeks and a lot of crying to settle in (i had a breakdown over failing to assemble a cupboard. i was very overwhelmed. with everything.) But now it's my home and I love it here! I think it's very common to be scared in the beginning. I can recommend the freshers week activities to get to know people (to fight the loneliness), but don't stress if you don't immediately become close friends with anyone :) (i remember feeling really sad and lonely because everyone i met seemed kinda nice but it was all very superficial and exhausting. Friendships take time to form so it's normal to not feel super close to people from the get-go!) Honestly, most people around you will feel the same way as you right now, so don't be too shy to make the first move and say hi! I absolutely feel you for being overwhelmed but I am 100% sure it's gonna be ok :) (oh and should you feel like it might help, uni counselling can be a great thing) Much love!! honestly i cried a bit reading this. thank you for such a kind messageā¤ļø logistically in my head i know iāve been through a move before and that i got used to it and that i can make friends and maybe be happy here. but right now it still feels really scary and makes me really anxious. and i donāt really know how to get over that other than just sticking it out. itās really nice to get messages like this though so i know iām not alone and it makes me feel like maybe i can do this. so thank you again you are lovely and i hope you have a wonderful day

For at least the first week I was at college I cried like every day because I was scared and worried about being by myself. I chose to go to school pretty far away from my family, so I wouldnāt get to see them except on longer holidays. I know it feels overwhelming now but it does get better and easier.

freshman year is always tough. itās a really big change, but think of it as growing pains. if youāre truly miserable, Iām sure thereās some transfer/virtual option or smth. Itās inconvenient and difficult to arrange, yes, but youāre not hopelessly stuck. Idk I struggled my freshman year, but thats what Iād tell myself. You gotta give it time for a new routine to be established & to let the homesickness fade. For now itāll suck, but itās only for now. All big changes are scary, itās natural.
thank you for thisššš i am really hoping that eventually iāll adjust to my new life here and make good friends, but itās definitely really hard right now. especially because where i am is so different from where i lived before, and i had to deal with a big move right before i myself moved to university. itās just hard because iām really bad at letting people get close to me, of course i had friends but i really only had my family, so itās just hard to be this lonely. again, hopefully it gets better with time, i guess iāll just have to wait and see
iāve moved into my dorm and i know itās normal to feel alone like this but i just feel so alone. i canāt imagine that this is going to be my life from here on out. this will be my room, thereāll be no going back to my family. iāve chosen to live downtown and i realize that itāll be so overwhelming and not peaceful and it feels like i canāt do it, i donāt want to do it. i just want to go back to summer with my family and none of this scariness. i donāt know. i suppose iāll just tough it out
my mom keeps asking me if i want to go various places, keeps asking me what i want to eat, keeps trying to talk to me. i told her iām depressed right now and that i just donāt want to do anything but clearly she doesnāt understand what that means

You can maybe give her an idea that you want to have a talk about something important and when she responds that ok let's talk or let's wait, you will find out when to talk
