So I wrote and animated this tutorial for people working on my short film Bothered, but I figured it would be useful for all animators, particularly beginners. I borrowed some of these concepts from this awesome packet done by Jon Hooper and Michel Gagne, which is also pretty great!
Louise Zhang (born 1991) is a Sydney-based artist whose work starts with the most basic unit of construction: the amorphous, inchoate âblob.â

10 typical perspective errors
Drawing perspective is considered one of the hardest things in art, except the mistakes usually done are pretty much always the same and can be avoided with a little care.
1. Lines not reaching the vanishing point
Well this is pretty simple to avoid but itâs the most common mistake. Itâs probably due to either carelessness or really not having understood the basic of perspective. I encourage you to go back and find some basic tutorial for this.
Anyway, be ALWAYS careful about where to âsendâ your lines, they NEED to go towards the correct vanishing point or it will just look awkward. Double check if necessary.
And always, ALWAYS use a ruler.
If your style requires lines that are a bit less geometrical (as mine do, I have a style of inking thatâs sketchy so âperfectâ lines drawn with a ruler usually donât fit well in the picture) use a ruler anyway for the pencils and then ink later by freehand. At least youâll have correct guidelines underneath.
For traditional drawing be sure you have a ruler and be sure to use it for each one of your lines.
Modern drawing software will help you a lot with this if you draw directly on computer: painting software such as Clip Studio Paint or Manga Studio 4EX or 5 have perspective tools that will automatically snap your lines towards the vanishing point.
itâs quite a long tutorial, youâll find the rest under the Read More or you can download the pdf file here

The problem is that white people see racism as conscious hate, when racism is bigger than that. Racism is a complex system of social and political levers and pulleys set up generations ago to continue working on the behalf of whites at other peopleâs expense, whether whites know/like it or not. Racism is an insidious cultural disease. It is so insidious that it doesnât care if you are a white person who likes black people; itâs still going to find a way to infect how you deal with people who donât look like you. Yes, racism looks like hate, but hate is just one manifestation. Privilege is another. Access is another. Ignorance is another. Apathy is another. And so on. So while I agree with people who say no one is born racist, it remains a powerful system that weâre immediately born into. Itâs like being born into air: you take it in as soon as you breathe. Itâs not a cold that you can get over. There is no anti-racist certification class. Itâs a set of socioeconomic traps and cultural values that are fired up every time we interact with the world. It is a thing you have to keep scooping out of the boat of your life to keep from drowning in it. I know itâs hard work, but itâs the price you pay for owning everything.

this is a super important explanation to think about whenever you feel like telling someone that something isnât racist because you donât hate x person.

I probably reblogged in the past, but here it is again in that case.
