since the Christmas event is coming to a close and the Easter event is next in line, I thought now would be a good time to rant about something regarding the upcoming event
Dear BlushCrunch, please, please, please rework the Easter Twisteds.
Cause as of now? I’m gonna just be blunt: I think that they suuuuuuuuck. Like, they’re just straight up bad.
As a matter of fact, I think the Easter event has the worst Twisteds out of (as of typing this) all three holiday events in the game. By a mile.
And by “worst twisteds” I don’t mean “worst twisteds to deal with on the floor.” That, in my opinion, would go to the Christmas Event. Which is honestly a good thing for Twisteds to have. The more challenging a Twisted is, the better they make the game. They’re what keep the game from getting dull and repetitive after all.
The Easter Twisteds are far from the worst Twisteds to be dealing with. And that’s the problem.
Compared to the Christmas and Halloween Twisteds, the Twisteds in the Easter event are just so boring.
Like, say what you want about the first Christmas Event, but the Twisteds were (and still are) pretty goated. From Ginger’s crazy attention span to Coal becoming Twisted Pebble’s speed in blackouts to Bobette’s ability to hear you pick up items from the floor, hell even Rudie had a little something going for him (at the time we haven’t gotten a Twisted that glowed in blackouts since Brightney.)
The Twisteds in the easter event meanwhile just have little to nothing going for them, to the point where they could all just be labeled as "commons" or "uncommons." They don't stand out or try to do anything unique, they just feel so basic and simple.
Like, okay Eggson gets a pass cause he’s a common, and those aren’t expected to come with any super crazy gimmicks that completely shake up the whole floor whenever they’re present. Those traits usually go to the mains and the rares (and sometimes the uncommons.)
Twisted Flyte is literally just Twisted Flutter but slightly slower. To the point where even his research description makes it abundantly clear.
when you’re “Twisted Flutter 2.0” and your opponents are “machine camper” and “cookie that chases you for ten years.” if that’s not embarrassing I dunno what is.
Then there’s Twisted Cocoa.
Compared to the other two holiday rares we’ve gotten, she's just lame. Her “gimmick” (if you even wanna call it that) is that she has a really low walk speed but a really high chase speed with a super low attention span. That’s it. There’s nothing else. Comparing that to Coal becoming super fast in blackouts and Eclipse being a walking airhorn that alerts any and all Twisteds to your location. (Yes, this even applies to Twisted Dyle.) She just cannot compare.
Not helping is the fact that “super fast but has a low attention span” is an attribute that Twisted Toodles (who is an uncommon) is already well known for. (Cocoa is just only slightly faster and has an even lower attention span, second only to Dyle’s attention span.)
The only Easter Twisted that comes close to being the slightest bit interesting is Bassie, who at least has a gimmick compared to the other three. (She spawns flowers that slow you down if you walk in them.) Even then? She just kinda pales in comparison to Bobette (who kinda goes without saying) and even Gourdy (yeah, you can make the argument that he’s a Twisted Glisten rehash, but honestly? I think the concept of giving him items to make him happy at least makes him different enough.)
To be completely frank, the Easter Twisteds being so dull and monotonous gameplaywise didn't really stick out to me until after the Halloween event. But like, even after I finished grinding in the Halloween and Christmas events, I would still get a sense of adrenaline when encountering the event Twisteds. Like, "oh damn gourdy spawned on a dyle floor. I hope we also didn’t get eclipse." or "oh holy shit it's coal in a blackout."
But the easter event? I don't remember getting that same adrenaline. I just remember playing and thinking at least once or twice, "ehhhh, the Christmas Twisteds were more fun." And this was even before we got the Halloween event.
And look, I know a lot of people loved the Easter event, and I can see why. It was praised for having better playable Toons than the Christmas event at the time (or at least, for the Easter Toons not being a rehash of preexisting Toons like the Christmas Toons were being criticized for) but now? With the Halloween event having arguably the best Toons out of any event (along with, y'know, actually good Twisteds) the Easter event is kinda... there I guess. At least, until it rolls around again this spring and they possibly rework and add some stuff (which I’m really hoping they do give the event its own unique stuff like a floor event or quests or stuff.)
Anyway yeah I don’t like the easter twisteds and I hope they’ll be buffed or reworked somehow
