Happy World Cat Day!!! Have some Babka and Rugelach, now with more of their luscious mane growing in đĽ°
OMG THEY'RE GORGEOUS AND WHAT AMAZING NAMES
Beautiful đť
your honor i love them
Yâall are so sweet 𼺠I give them extra pets for you guys â¤ď¸
I have never heard of World Cat Day before finding this post while looking up babka (I'm trying to learn how to make sweets because the only things I know to do with flour are pizza bases, damper, fettuccine & ravioli. If you don't know what damper is, it's an Australian thing. I probably could make noodles if I tried but I admit I just buy those).
But yeah, those are cute cats & I now know of World Cat Day.
I think some of the funniest stuff in Arknights is when they try to justify the outfit change for an Alter unit. I haven't seen all of them, of course, but my favorites include:
Silence - "I was undergoing a clandestine covert mission for the boss of the *R&D DEPARTMENT* when another of my bosses found me and gave me a free makeover."
Skadi - "Some old guy who I helped out once gave me these clothes as a disguise from the Spanish Inquisition so I'd stand out less. No, I did not ask why he had a sultry outfit in my size just lying around."
Lava - "This is literally my cool self-insert OC's design for the movie my girlfriend wrote for me to star in. Do not steal." *bumps into a wall because of her stupid blindfold*
I think it's important to note that not only did Silence get a free makeover from another one of her bosses,
Said boss is their company's CEO's adoptive mother
That CEO is the ex-girlfriend of the woman Silence has "it's complicated" style romantic tension with.
Said CEO wasn't one for fashion, and got most of her outfits set up by the now ex-girlfriend.
The boss doing the makeover is like "I'm gonna dress you up real nice to wow the people close to you wink wink"
She dressed up Silence in the same goddamn clothing vibe as the CEO.
Jara over here like "I know what Saria likes: Off the shoulder jackets worn like capes, with brown and gold clothes underneath" and Silence just "????"
Listen, the only reason I've not gone on entire tangents about how much I love Rhodes Island's Most Divorced Couple (let me remind you that the Doctor and Kal'tsit exist so you know that's impressive) and their dynamic is the fact that Lone Trail is five million words long and I wasn't levelled enough to finish all the Rerun levels when it came around. I will have THOUGHTS about these two and the wonderful growth their daughter undergoes when I stop having five other things to grind and events to farm. I need to compartmentalize my yuri like a responsible adult over here.
Microsoft Word
Can anyone give advice as to why there's no [Options] setting available in MS Word for me?
halp?
Another way to do it if the first doesn't work.
This doesn't remove the horrible popup, unfortunately! But it does nix the AI ability to talk to the server.
I just used this fix to roll my Word program back to an earlier version, and so far it's working:
I hope this helps someone! I was just about in tears over the visual noise and distraction of that hellish popup.

The State of Israel is what decolonisation and land back looks like - an indigenous people regaining sovereignty over their land after centuries of oppression and genocide.
When you say it has no right to exist, that Israelis should all "go back to where they came from" and calling for its dismantlement and takeover by Palestine, what you are actually advocating for is the destruction of native lands by a colonising force.
Don't have the bare faced audacity to pretend you give a single shit about indigenous rights if this is what you want.
Funny as you donât give a shit about indigenous rights either as youâre advocating for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Palestinians have lived on those lands for thousands of years, their roots deeply intertwined with its history and culture, they are indigenous to the lands and what you are implying in your little self righteous post, is called ethnically cleanse.
I'm advocating for nothing of the fucking sort. Funny how you've just pulled that totally out of your arse to get mad about. Learn to fucking read.
It's very interesting indeed that simply stating the fact of Jewish indigeneity has you losing your little mind here. That is an undeniable, absolute, historical fact. Jews are indigenous to the land. Palestinians have a long connection to it. Both those things are true. Both those peoples deserve to live there in peace and safety. And it certainly says far more about your mindset than it does mine if you automatically assume advocating for one necessarily means the destruction of the other. Don't project your violent genocidal fantasies onto me. Get fucked actually.
#you donât have to lie saying palestinians have thousands of years of history there
#they wonât magically lose their humanity if their history there is just a handful of centuries old

Okay, so here's my contribution. To anyone seeing this, sorry I haven't been on Tumblr for 2 or 3 days I think & I don't have time to catch up on stuff, so that's either a tomorrow thing or day after that. I just saw notification that I got tagged for this & decided to do it before getting some sleep.
This song was used in one of the Final Fantasy Games. The funny thing is I haven't even played any of the Final Fantasy Games. I downloaded this album because "Blaze" is on it & decided to listen to the rest of the album. So I know a Final Fantasy song because I'm a Gundam fan (Blaze is from Iron-Blood Orphans, usually abbreviated as IBO).

"Uhh AFAB transfem people could be intersex-"
Without looking it up, tell me what types of intersex people would be assigned female at birth and simultaneously need to transition to being female. I don't think you know, because most of you were just using intersex people as a rhetorical shield for your real audience - cis women who aestheticize and objectify trans women.
I'm intersex, so I'll tell you.
Sometimes intersex people have a complicated experience with being "assigned" a sex. Sometimes an intersex person is assigned female at birth and then coercively or even forcefully reassigned male later, usually during puberty. So in order to identify as a women they would need to subvert their assigned male status.
People born with a micropenis or other forms of ambiguous genitalia pretty much have a 50/50 chance of being assigned male or female, it's kind of up to the doctor or ever how that doctor is feeling that day. What this means is that someone who was assigned female can have an identical body to someone who was assigned male. This means that an afab person can be born with a penis and go through a fully masculinizing puberty. Even if they're afab, they may feel the need to go on hrt, get bottom surgery, and go through a transition process that is identical to that of an amab trans women.
Some intersex people don't consider their physical sex to be either female or male and may feel the need to transition to a body that they feel is female/male, regardless of what their agab is.
Essentially: Afab doesn't mean "fully recognized and viewed by society as female" nor does it mean someone with a typical female body/experience. It describes an event that happened at the beginning of a person's life. This event can have an effect on the experiences of people later in life but for intersex people specifically this event is often either traumatic or just plain inaccurate and doesn't describe how we actually live.
Many intersex people, regardless of agab, feel as though they have to transition (both socially and medically) into their gender. Sometimes this takes the form of people who were assigned female and have transitioned into being women.
And before anyone says it: No. Often times afab intersex people are not seen as women or even remotely female. There's a lot of people who believe that ALL intersex people, regardless of agab, are "males with DSDs". I myself have been told that I'm not female and there's nothing I could do to be female.
And since you all clearly want our trauma rather than "because our identities matter even if you don't get it" as a response, here are some examples of intersex people being forcibly feminized later in life than most of you all pretend happens to us:
As for "cis women who aestheticize and objectify trans women" - just say you don't see hormone disorders as intersex. Fun fact - for most of my life, I was diagnosed with PCOS. For all of my life, I had parents and doctors neglecting heart issues. Parents who got angry when I wanted to see a doctor.
Then I found out I had CAH this entire fucking time. Which looks like PCOS in certain aspects, but isn't. CAH comes with critical heart issues and is often met with cosmetic surgery on infant genitalia to reduce clitoral size, despite this not impacting the heart.
I didn't know I had that fucking surgery until this year despite being sexually active for nearly 20 years and always having complications and weird looking labia! :) My lifelong heart issues never even got medicated until I was 28!! My parents intentionally medically neglected me to avoid me finding out I was intersex!!
I'm saying this, not because I consider myself a trans woman (I don't), but because intersex people with hormone disorders are OFTEN who you bigots are referring to when you're talking about "cis women who aestheticize and objectify trans women" or "cis women fetishizing intersex people" or anything else in that fucking horrible, obnoxious, intersexist realm. Hormone disorders are called hormone disorders because doctors want intersex traits to be a fucking disorder. Not because of the heart issues or other actually treatable issues that ARE DISORDERED! And y'all aligning with this mentality is so fucking horribly bioessentialist and nasty.
Your limited understanding of natural human sex diversity does not give you the right to define transness for other perisex trans people, much less intersex trans people. Your inability to understand that intersex children and teens are ALSO reassigned and mutilated is YOUR ignorance, and demanding OUR trauma to educate your ignorant fucking ass is some nasty, pathetic bullshit. The fucking backbone on people like this who pretend to give a shit about marginalized people while directly harming us being made of pure fucking goop. Cowardice.
Extreme leftists who constantly bleat about being against colonialism and imperialism while simultaneously sucking the dicks of literal fascist, genocidal dictatorships are so absurdly funny. Be so fucking serious. That I ever thought I had shared values with these lunatics.
Someday, I will stop being appalled at the absolute hypocrisy of a movement that used to stand for something worthwhile and that I believed in. It is not today. The disillusionment is real.

Here is a brief summary of what is happening in Wikipedia right now:
In the last few years (3-4 years) the WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America, which was originally created to improve the quality and coverage of native issues and native articles on wikipedia, has been hijacked by a small number of users with an extremist agenda. They have been working diligently over the last few years to change the definition of both what it means to be an Indigenous American and even what it means to be state and federally recognized.
The four or five key players (Mainly Editor Yuchitown, Bohemian Baltimore, ARoseWolf, (now retired editor CorbieVreccan, Netherzone and Oncamera) who are part of the âNative American Articles Improvement Projectâ started implementing these changes slowly, but they started pursuing their goals aggressively after November 2023, when state-recognized tribes retained their voting rights in NCAI. Essentially, after the movement to delegitimize state-recognized tribes failed officially, the key players doubled down on altering and controlling the flow of information about Native Americans through Wikipedia.
The talk page of Lily Gladstoneâs article has a relevant discussion here. Initially, the leaders of the WikiProject removed any reference to her being a âNative American Actressâ and instead had her as âSelf-identifying as Blackfootâ and âSelf-identifying as Nez Perceâ because her blood quantum was too low to be enrolled in either tribe.
You can see some of the discussion here:
 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Lily_Gladstone
Eventually they relented and changed her category to being âOf Nez Perce Descentâ but you can see in the discussion that they are referring to an article that these editors (Yuchitown, Bohemian Baltimore, and CorbieVreccan) themselves appeared to have mostly written and revised:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_American_identity_in_the_United_States
This statement is very much at odds with even the governmentâs description, as seen below;
The DOJ Office of Tribal Justice Office on their webpage âFrequently Asked Questions About Native Americanâ, question âWho is an American Indian or Alaskan Nativeâ states:
âAs a general principle, an Indian is a person who is of some degree Indian blood and is recognized as an Indian by a Tribe and/or the United States. No single federal or tribal criterion establishes a person's identity as an Indian. Government agencies use differing criteria to determine eligibility for programs and services. Tribes also have varying eligibility criteria for membership.â
In addition, âListâ pages have been created on Wikipedia for federally and state recognized tribes. The Wikipedia âListâ page for state-recognized tribes is inaccurate in its interpretation of state recognition and not supported by expert reliable sources--(1) Cohenâs Handbook of Federal Indian Law 2012 edition, (2) NCSL.org current stand on state recognition (not the archived list from 2017 which NCSL no longer supports), (3) Koenig & Steinâs paper âFederalism and the State Recognition of Native American Tribes: a survey of state-recognized tribes and state recognition processes across the United Statesâ (both 2008 & updated 2013 in book â Recognition, sovereignty struggles, and indigenous rights in the United States: A sourcebookâ)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State-recognized_tribes_in_the_United_States
State-recognized tribes who have received recognition through less formal but acceptable means have been moved from the Wikipedia list page on state-recognized tribes to the Wikipedia list page of unrecognized or self-identifying organizations.
The Wiki page "List of organizations that self-identify as Native American tribes", in particular, is being used to purposely defame legitimate Native American individuals who are members of the tribes/Native communities that are on this list.Â
By the parameters set up on Wikipedia, only the colonizerâs governments can acknowledge who is Native American through either federal recognition or state recognition. If an individual is not a member of a federally or state-recognized tribe, then it is determined that they cannot be Native American and are, instead, considered âself-identifyingâ or only âa descendant of ...â (example Lily Gladstone). As a result, Native individuals are currently being tagged as âself-identifyingâ and their names are put on âlistâ pages that strongly imply they are âpretendâ Indians.
These editors have indicated that they would like âself-identificationâ to be the default setting for any people who they deem do not fit within the parameters that they themselves created within Wikipedia.
Moreof, these editors are admin and senior editors within the Wikiproject Indigenous Peoples of North America, and are being called in specifically to weigh on Native Identity, and any project involving any Indigenous Group.
Any attempt to correct misinformation, add information, or change any of these articles is often met with being blocked, reported for various offenses, or reported for having a Conflict of Interest, whether or not that is actually applicable. They have use this strategically in many different pages for many different individuals and groups within the scope of their Wikiprojects.
While changing things in Wikipedia does not change the truth, it is a way to control how most people take in information, and thus they hope to manipulate the narrative to better suit their goals.
This is quick and messy but:
Here is a link to the google document with the other state recognized tribes (Including yours) that were edited by these editors. This is an incomplete list so far that only goes back to September 2023 but I am going to add to it. If you can add to your own part of this list, and send your complaints and information to the arbitrator committee (the email is below) with the involved editors, this will help our case.
The more tribes who complain, and the more Wikipedia editors complain, the better our case will be.Â
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YNDEjLTrrZ_mMIRCVxtvt69FwCYpJWKs71lBhWa5a9M/edit?usp=sharing
The place to make complaints on Wikipedia is oversight-en-wpwikipedia.org , and
arbcom-enwikimedia.org . It is most helpful to have an editing account on Wikipedia, because Yuchitown and the others will try to defend themselves using Wikipedia methodology and make anyone who confronts them look like the aggressor (see the other tribes who tried to fight back on Wikipedia I found).
The more people and tribes make complaints the more likely it is that this will work and we can rid ourselves of these monsters.
Some of the tribes I have spoken to are taking legal action against these editors. Any groups affected by their policies should also reach out to the news to make knowledge of this more widespread.
Thank you
- quoted with permission from an email sent by an associate of my tribe. Message me for their email address if you'd like to reach out to them.
@moniquill question. So over in Judaicaland weâre dealing with an influx of edits to pages on Jewish culture and identity that sound eerily similar to this. Like literally I was reading some of the wording youâre sharing and going âand where have I heard THIS in the last three weeks?â
Would it be worth it to see if thereâs overlap between these malicious editors, and if so, make that an additional angle of approach? I feel like the more groups we can prove are being harmed, the more likely Wikipedia will be to remedy the issue. (It shouldnât be that way, harm to one should count as harm to all, but unfortunately we live in the real world, not the country of Shouldbeandis.)
Yes, that would be something very much worth looking into
Update:
Uptate 2: Another Wikiproject editor who may be involved is Doug Weller, who has recently been editing Jewish articles
Update 3:
Bohemian Baltimore is also involved in indigenous Australian topics so it extends to more than the US
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_May_17#Category:Extinct_Indigenous_peoples_of_Australia
Bohemian Baltimore has also made some edits against LGBT Wikipedia consensus and received some comments on it on his page for re-categorizing Aromantic and Asexual people as potentially being excluded from the LGBTQ+ community.Â
Discussion below:Â
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Bohemian_Baltimore&diff=prev&oldid=1221854178#Aromanticism_and_Asexuality_are_the_A_of_LGBTQIA+_and_Intersex_is_the_I_and_is_inherently_an_LGBTQIA+_identity
What just happened is that Bohemian Baltimore, Oncamera, and Yuchitown in a three person "consensus" to change "citizen" to "member" for State recognized tribes, then Bohemian Baltimore created a new category for them, and reclassified all of their citizens with hyper speed. The discussion is still open.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Indigenous_peoples_of_North_America#c-Yuchitown-20240520000400-Oncamera-20240519193200
See discussion here, and under Lillie Rosa Minoka Hill for their consideration of tribal citizenship.
So at this moment it looks like theyâre literally trying to erase concepts of indigeneity worldwide.
WE NEED A CELT TO CHECK ON THE CELTIC ISLES ARTICLES. Someone with knowledge of Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and the smaller Celtic nations. Iâd do it if I had more knowledge of the area.
And what do we do to stop them, re: the rest?
So I took a look at the main entry for MÄori, and it has been edited with misinformation. Please keep in mind that I'm not Maori or an expert. I have verified this with someone at work who is MÄori and whose role is literally to better MÄori outcomes. That's all I can say without doxing myself.
Essentially after the treaty of Waitangi was signed, according to the wiki, there was peaceful coexistence.
Firstly, I find the lack of talk about Te Tiriti O Waitangi to be terrible. The treaty and te tiriti are considered two different documents by the NZ government and we are taught as such in school. For those who don't know NZ history, British colonizers wrote a treaty in English, had it translated into te reo MÄori and the translation was poorly done due to lack of equivalent words in MÄori and malicious mistranslation. Because of that they are treated as separate documents and the government only upholds Te Tiriti, and disregards the treaty (the English version).
Secondly, there was never peaceful coexistence. Here is a page from the Waitangi tribunal, which is a government org run by MÄori to uphold te tiriti https://www.waitangitribunal.govt.nz/publications-and-resources/school-resources/treaty-past-and-present/section-4/
aka only a few years after signing, there were more land wars. A generation is usually 20 years. So factually there were land wars only a few years after signing and not peace for 20 years.
That is misleading. The 2023 census says that MÄori descent is anyone with MÄori whakapapa, aka MÄori ancestry, and MÄori ethnicity is a self-determined cultural affiliation.
The census is a nation wide survey which everyone legally has to participate or be fined.
In MÄori culture, if you have any whakapapa, you are MÄori and can call yourself such and use it as your ethnicity on forms and such. Different MÄori have different view on that as no group or even no iwi is a monolith, however the general view is that any MÄori whakapapa makes you MÄori.
It is extremely misleading to not have that explained.
There have been lots of attempts to do worse edits to the page, but most of them get reverted. I can't really wrap my head around how wiki edit logs work, so if anyone wants to go through and see if there is any crossover with any other history erasing editors of other pages, please do and let me know.
Wikipedia is terrible for non hard-fact/STEM topics.
Its a systematic failure. Wikipedia rewards seniority and number of commits on the platform. In Wikipedias logic, the editor-of-all-trades is more reliable and does not need approval for their changes.
On the otherhand, an expert in their field, who is also a first-time Wikipedia editor, has no credibility as far as Wikipedia is concerned.
And for bad actors, who have some seniority on Wikipedia its really easy to have the first-time-Wikipedia-user-expert-in-their-field suspended for an 'edit-war' or failure to adhere to Wikipedia rules and cultre.
This is even more likely if ones edit is just the removal of missinformation, since Wikipedia favors adding content and while deleting is viewed more sceptical.
In the end, Wikipedia is a rule-of-the-mob scenario. The articles are not necessarily by someone whos known about the subject for more than two weeks. And theyre not peer-reviewed. They are popular-kid reviewed.
I dont really think theres any solution other than for Wikipedia to pay actual scolars to review articles corncerning the lifes of people that are hate-crimed.
Wikipedia has the funds.
Disclaimer: I am no wikipedianer. I once tried to delete an instance of antisemitism from wikipedia: made an account, documented my changes, explained them on the talk page. Someone without an account, didnt explain anything; reverted my change and succesfully reported me for edit-warring when i reverted their revert. I then gave up on wikipedia.
Happy for more knowledgeable folks on all-things wikipedia to correct what i got wrong.
No because I decided to check the Sami pages on Wikipedia, and guess who has also decided to make changes on the page? BOHEMIAN BALTIMORE.
Now, they havenât changed much in the article and the changes were non-offensive but several users have been editing the page with misinformation, and some users have been active in trying to remove those edits. But also, the Wikipedia is riddled with misinformation regardless.
This phrasing is so off, as if Samis just donât like the term when it is a SLUR. This is an offensive term and no one should be using it.
This is also false. The colonialism started way before that but the reason as to why the Wikipedia article claims there was âno interestâ is in reference to Swedes and Norwegians not wanting to move north due to the harsher environment. Both the Swedish and Norwegian crown knew about the resources and potential Sapmi had, but could not utilise the land until later because of lack of manpower and incitement to move there by the regular population who primarily sustained on agriculture. Big parts of Sapmi is not suited for agriculture. It wasnât until the 19th century where incitement to move to âNorrlandâ increased because of the resource rich land. Silver and other minerals were found in Sapmi, which caused many to want to claim land for themselves. With industrialisation came new technologies to utilise the forests and mining of minerals and many more wanted to move to Norrland to utilise these opportunities since poverty was affecting the country. One million swedes left for America during this time. The land in Sapmi was a perfect way for Sweden and swedes to sustain themselves and get out of poverty. But it is a lie to claim that there was a âlack of interestâ in the land when it wasnât as Samis were heavily taxed for living in their own lands as early as the 13th century.
During the 13th century, the samis of Sapmi were forced to pay a tax called the âbirkarlaskattenâ. There are written sources of taxations of the samis as early as the 9th century AD, but those sources cannot be verified to a certainty. Later, Sapmi was colonised by Sweden and Norway during the 16th century. Then the taxation was called âlappfogdarâ and Sapmi was divided into different regions called âPite Lappmarkâ, âLule Lappmarkâ, âTorne Lappmarkâ and âKemi Lappmarkâ. Samis were taxed for existing for CENTURIES.
Also, attempts to assimilate samis was done early. During the 17th-18th century there were attempts to forcefully convert the samis to Christianity, which was highly successful too. Most of what we know about ancient sami religion and cultural practices are written texts from Christian missionaries during the 1700s. The Norwegian crown sent out missionaries to Sapmi as early as the 14th century in attempts to assimilate them.
âI donât need a [west Indian] colony, I have Norrlandâ - Axel Oxenstierna in reference to the rich resources found in Norrland (which includes Sapmi).
If you want to access Indigenous knowledge, you need to seek out Indigenous sources. Anything you read in settler media should be cross referenced with Indigenous media. This is step 1 in respectful research methodology.

Now I will argue that Batmanâs motivations (protecting the innocent), level of preparedness, and the fact that he doesnât kill people, put him miles above the current uniformed fascists charged with maintaining the status quo and protecting property. That being said I think this would be an innovative take on the Batman mythos, and have social commentary guaranteed to piss the wrong people (by which I mean the right people) right off. Personally Iâd watch the shit out of that. đ
This is a good take, and I think youâd have to change less of the Batman mythos than you might expect. Pitting Batman against police corruption/incompetence goes way back into the comicâs history, so thatâs already solid. In terms of fighting crime bosses, I think we could expand on two successful choices in The Batman (2022).
The film focused on exposing police/political corruption, and also did a nice job creating the criminal gang aesthetics of identical outfits, themed facepaint, etc (this was one of its many aesthetic choices that probably took inspiration from the Batman: Arkham video games).
So how do we combine these elements and realize Sean Kellyâs vision? Police gangs.
The real world is full of examples of gangs within major police departments like LAPD and NYPD. Officers in the gang often have gruesome tattoos, ritualized activities celebrating brutality, and tight-knit group dynamics. Theyâre often involved with drug dealing, protection rackets, and theft.
In the heightened reality of Gotham, why couldnât a disgraced DA have a troupe of loyal âtwo-facedâ cops whose riot masks are painted on one half?
Why couldnât the short, scar-eyed police captain (from a long lineage of distinguished police captains, no less) run a precinct of thuggish cops with penguin insignias on their badges?
When the first wave of #DefundGCPD brings in new, experimental less-than-lethal weapons, why couldnât groups of cops make their calling card the âlaughing gasâ grenades that produce extreme mood-altering effects (and sometimes leaves affected people in a permanent state of delirious, uncontrollable laughter), or perhaps the freeze-gun that leaves suspects encased in ice?
And what does the worldâs greatest detective do with all his gadgets and his ninja stealth? He finds the evidence. Batman digs up the proof the cops and DA are trying to bury. He brings it to light and refuses to let it get swept under the rug. He makes sure justice is served.
And hey, maybe some police desk jockey gets mad that some masked antifa commie freak is locking up all his buddies? Maybe he starts working harder to cover up the evidence, spoof the GPS logs, edit the bodycam footage, whatever it takes to prove this Batman isnât smarter than GCPD Lieutenant Nigma.
Hell, you could even do Raâs Al Ghul without changing a thing. Heâs the immortal ringleader of league of superninja assassins, and an self-righteous vigilante who believes he can kill off the worst of humanity (in his mind) to create a more perfect society. (Perhaps just add the detail that law enforcement agencies in multiple nations are aware, supportive, and maybe even actively collaborating in his crusade.)
Give me one logically supportable reason why the fuck we should have an iota of respect for someone's culture if it's misogynistic?
this is actually something that bugs me A Lot - the idea in some parts of the left that culture or tradition somehow justifies shitty behavior and outright oppression for some. Like, obviously you shouldn't bomb people for being misogynistic (or homophobic/transphobic/etc) but that doesn't mean you have to embrace it and theorycraft reasons why it's okay for a marginalized group to hate/be bigoted/practice things that are known to be exploitation or oppression and that it has to be glossed over/glazed over. If something is unquestionably wrong, it's wrong for EVERYONE, and you're allowed to say that. It's not somehow being racist or insufficiently leftist for me as a gay trans man, for example, to call out homophobia and transphobia just because the person spewing that shit is from a culture/society/gender/religion/whatever different than mine. It's not being insufficiently leftist or being a racist or being anything else bad to condemn rape regardless of WHO does it, because rape is wrong for ANYONE to do. If anything, doing so (as I did for a while when I fell in with people pushing that) is actually itself bigotry - the bigotry of low expectations, of assuming that oppressed people/people of non-Western cultures/people outside of empire/whatever somehow can't meet/didn't learn the basic standards of human decency. Like, don't kill people who mean you no harm, don't rape people, don't hate people for their race/sex/gender/religion - those are things any human should be able to live up to and if they don't, that's a problem ANYONE can and should be free to call out Hell, and I'd even take it a step further: if a movement/culture/society/whatever doesn't itself act to protect its own people and to control bigotry and abuse, it's not cultural imperialism or the like for someone else to step in and be "hey don't do that," nor is defending one's own right to exist free of it unjust. And rampant, unchecked misogyny/homophobia/transphobia/SA are more than valid reasons to reject a movement as valid "revolutionaries" or "resistance," doing so isn't somehow holding them up to impossible standards, it's using reasonable logical judgement that they're pulling "we're wanting to be the new boss, same as or worse than the old one."
I hadn't seen any news earlier today. But I'm with my parents & we just watched the news, so I just learnt about what happened in Woollahra. This is what happens when you don't crack down on the antisemites quickly & don't apply the full force of existing laws on them. They escalate. Adass Israel in Melbourne last week, Woollahra today. If our government did a crackdown earlier, neither of those attacks would have happened. I hope these two attacks will be the wake-up call for our government to do what needs to be done.
Could you personally forgive someone who had a neo-Nazi âphaseâ as an adult? Assuming theyâre trying to make amends for their past behavior/beliefs

No
So apparently this is actually the âI â¤ď¸ Sucking Nazi Dickâ website
âforgiveness and compassion should be withheld from people who are Too Bad To Changeâ˘ď¸â is not the progressive take you think it is
I swear sometimes I feel like there are no progressives on this site, just rainbow-hued fascists. how the hell do these people expect society to change if people are not allowed to change
Refusing to allow people to change or improve only pushes them further into an ideology of hatred.
No matter where someone starts genuine teshuvah is always something that leaves me in awe. So why discourage that?
Like at a smaller level i know so many people who were taught to hate as children and have gradually learned past that.
I don't think I could have expressed it better than @barszcz-czerwony-i-biali (though I admit that as a goyische atheist, I looked up the meaning of teshuvah on the My Jewish Learning website. Yeah, it meant what I thought it would based on the context, but I always check definitions of words I don't remember).
People can change for the better. As long as they take concrete steps of restitution rather than just saying an apology that might be meaningless, I'm fine with forgiveness. If someone who used to be a toxic bigot comes around & atones by trying to help the people they used to hate, then isn't that the best outcome. I understand people being burnt by enough bigotry to be unwilling to trust, so I don't hold it against those who wouldn't accept attempts at atonement. Trust in people or society, once lost, is hard to rebuild. But if we want our society to become better, then we need to hope that some of the current bigots atone.
If they try to hide their past mistakes or offer an apology but don't make any effort to make either restitution or at least self-reflection on why they fell down the judenhass rabbit-holes, than yeah, that's different, don't forgive those jerks. But if they make a sincere effort to right their wrongs, then we should help them get there, as that's the path to a better future.

Do you own more than 100 books?
Do you own more than 100 books?
Yes
No
I didn't count the exact number, but if we assume 20 books per shelf, assume 3 shelves per bookcase (only the smallest bookshelf at home has only 3 shelves) than multiple that figure by the number of bookcases I have. Yeah, even not accounting for books that aren't on a shelf because I don't have room left on the shelves, my collection is well above 100.
