part 13
michael olise x fem!reader
in which reader works at the emergency room, but she can’t stand footballers. what will happen when a sweet michael walks in after an injury.
a/n: feeding my people. enjoyyyyy
last part - next part
for the next few minutes, you found it impossible to settle.
your eyes kept returning to him.
not because you were worried anymore. nothing was wrong, he was back on his feet, running around the pitch. calling for the ball, he was moving normally.
he was fine.
you exhaled, forcing yourself to lean back into the seat.
and for a minute, you actually started enjoying the game.
everything felt less and less unknown. you now understood that when the crowd collectively groaned, it ment something had gone wrong before you even got the chance to see it.
you stood up when everyone else did, shouting when they shouted or even clapping when they clapped.
you watched him move through defenders. you knew his body, in an entirely different context.
you knew what he looked like when he was in pain and the way his eyebrows creased when he was trying to hide it.
but this michael was completely alive.
his body seemed to know exactly what to do before it even happened.
bu then he turned, a sprint, sudden change of direction. the crowd rose on their feet as you mimicked them, your eyes never leaving his body.
the ball was in the back of the net. the stadium felt like it had just exploded. it was loud, the stands were shaking. it rolled through your chest, vibrating beneath your ribs.
people around were screaming, jumping, hugging and waving scarves above their heads.
you were almost frozen, smiling like you had just won the lottery.
down on the pitch michael disappeared beneath a cloud of teammates.
when he emerged, his face was flushed. he was grinning.
bu then you saw it.
the look on his face as his eyes squinted towards the vip section.
he was looking for someone.
your heart stumbled. his gaze swept across the stands.
once, twice, and the third time the finally stopped on you.
there were thousands of people around you, but he somehow managed to find the one he wanted more.
his smile widened, hand lifting. just a tiny gesture, just enough.
you lifted your hand in response, immediately feeling ridiculous. but you couldn’t care less.
the rest of the game was a blur.
you found yourself being way more invested, even though you had no idea what half the decisions being made meant.
when the final whistle echoed in the stadium, it erupted again. this time it was joy, relief.
michael stood on the pitch. hands on his hips as his chest was still rising and falling rapidly as he caught his breath. the adrenaline finally wearing off.
his teammates gathered around him, praising and hugging his sweaty figure.
you watched him smile.
the stadium was still buzzing, but it was getting more distant as the crowd slowly filled towards the exit. empty cups rolled along the concrete beneath people’s shoes.
the intensity of the match slowly dissolving into something softer.
and you realized you didn’t know what you were supposed to do now.
he had told you to come. but nothing led you to believe he wanted you to stay.
you assumed you were just supposed to leave.
halfway through pulling your coat around yourself, your phone buzzed.
michael
don’t leave
then another message
michael
i’ll come to you
your stomach flipped
you
where am i supposed to go?
michael
just stay there
you looked towards the pitch, he was no longer there and the players were starting to disappear into the tunnel.
you
i have like no idea where you are
michael
i know
you
you’re so helpful
michael
i’m coming
you couldn’t help but smile.
you watched the stadium empty, you were almost completely alone in your section by now. when you heard footsteps coming up the stairs behind you.
”you stayed.”
you looked behind you, he was standing a few steps above.
”well you told me to.”
”i wasn’t sure you would.”
”i’m very good at following instructions.”
”thats not what i ment.”
”i know.”
you smiled softly as you watched him get closer.
it still felt kind of weird seeing him outside of the hospital like you had been accustomed to.
then he finally reached your row.
”hi.”
”hi.”
he looked towards the empty seats besides you.
” can i?”
”since you scored and everything i’ll let you.”
his eyebrows lifted.
”since i scored?”
”don’t let it go to your head.”
”too late.”
you laughed and he sat down beside you.
for a few seconds, neither knew what to say. the roar of the stadium had scattered into fading voices. the lights were still on, bright and reflecting on the almost unnatural green grass.
you looked down at the field, where staff members moved around. then back at him.
”you were good.”
he looked at you this time.
“yeah?”
”don’t make me regret complimenting you.”
a quiet laugh escapes him.
”i won’t”
you glanced at him. he was looking at you again, not the pitch or the stand but you.
”what?”
he frowned.
”nothing.”
”but you’re staring.”
”and so are you.”
you immediately look away. “no i’m not.”
”you are.”
”and you’re annoying.”
”i’ve been told.”
he took the jacket he’d been carrying around and held it out to you.
you looked at it, confused.
”what?”
”it’s cold.”
”i have a coat.”
”and you’re still cold, i can see you shivering.”
”i’m not.”
he gave you a look. you hated how he knew you well enough to recognize when you were lying. so you took the jacket and muttered a small. “thank you.”
”you’re welcome.”
you put it over your shoulders, it was still warm from him. the faint smell of his cologne invaded your nostrils before you decided to just not think about that right now.
”did you understand anything?”
you gave him a fake offended look,
“well yes.”
”really?”
he grinned, unfortunately he knew you too well by now,
”yes.”
”what happened in the first half?”
you paused, actually trying to remember the events of the first half.
”well you.. played, and… kicked the ball.”
he started laughing,
”that’s not what i ment but close enough.”
”i know what you ment.”
”no you didn’t.”
”but i understood enough.”
he shook his face, an amused grin still displayed on his face.
then he started explaining some of the things you’d missed or maybe misunderstood. not in a condescending way, he actually seemed happy to explain. happy to share this part of his life with you.
you listened carefully. not because you suddenly cared deeply about football tactics. but because he cared. you liked watching him talk about something he loves.
the way his hands moved as he explained, his voice was more animated and his eyes were shining brighter than ever.
you found yourself watching his face more than listening to his words.
eventually he stoped.
”what?”
”nothing.”
”you weren’t listening.”
”i was.”
”what did i say.”
there it was again, that same pause that ment you had just been caught once more.
”something about… space.”
he laughed.
”you’re terrible.”
”no i’m just tired.”
you looked away, a faint blush creeping on your cheeks.
”you’re lying.”
you sighed.
”okay. i was watching you.”
that shut him up instantly.
you realized the words that had left your mouth before you could even process them.
he looked at you and suddenly the aire felt different.
there wasn’t that teasing or friendly feeling anymore. his eyes dropped briefly to your mouth before returning to your eyes. your heartbeat quickly fastened.
you don’t move, and neither does he.
”anyway.”
michael smiled to himself. “anyway.”
you stayed in the stands longer than necessary and the stadium was almost empty. a few distant voices and echoes of footsteps, the hum of the lights and the pitch that stretched endlessly below you, untouched.
your chin was resting against your hand, elbow on your knee as you were deep in thoughts.
”it’s kind of weird.”
”what is?”
”how i’ve never seen this part of you before.”
you gestured towards the pitch, “i mean this, all of this.”
he understood what you ment. “to be fair almost all the times we’ve seen each other i was injured.”
you looked at him through the corner of your eye, head not fully turning yet.
”mostly.”
he smiled, “i’m sorry.”
”you should be.”
you looked back towards the green grass.
”but i think i like this version better.”
his smile faded slightly, expression getting more serious.
”the healthy version?”
you shook your head. “no,”
your head finally fully turned towards him. “the happy version.”
that really got to him. he couldn’t form an answer immediately, he just looked at you. and suddenly he realized no one had ever said that to him before.
no praises about his performance, no compliments or i’m proud of you.
just a simple i like seeing you happy. and surprisingly that hit him even harder than anything else that could’ve been said.
he looked down at his hands, before quietly speaking up.
”thank you for being here.”
you simply smiled and gave him a nod. “of course.”
eventually, he got up.
”okay come on.”
you looked up at his tall frame in front of you.
”where exactly?”
he gestured towards the stairs.
”down there.”
you looked at the pitch, then back at him.
”are we even allowed to?”
he gave you a small smile. “probably not.”
”michael.”
there it was again. you’d called him by his name a couple times now. but every time you did, it made him feel these unexplainable things.
”i’m joking.”
”are you?”
he didn’t even answer but you laughed and raised t your feet anyway.
as you made your way down the pitch, you realized how incredibly intimate this felt.
when you reached the edge, you stopped.
the stadium looked completely different from there. the grass was impossibly bright and it felt all so enormous. quiet, almost peaceful.
he stepped onto the grass, the turned towards you. he held out his hand for you to take.
you looked at it, then at him, before raising your own hand to his.
his fingers closed around yours. warm and steady. for a movement neither say anything, just the warmth of each other.
no hospital, injury, excuses, misunderstandings. just you two.
and maybe this was actually the moment you had been waiting for this whole time. not a kiss, a confession or a big fancy date. just a moment where being close to him didn’t mean that something was wrong.
he squeezed your hand once.
”come on.”
you smiled
”where?”
he looked towards the empty pitch.
”i’ll teach you the offside rule.”
you laughed.
”absolutely not.”
and he laughed too, pulling you gently deeper into the grass with him.

part 12
michael olise x fem!reader
in which reader works at the emergency room, but she can’t stand footballers. what will happen when a sweet michael walks in after an injury.
no warnings for this chapter.
a/n: okay sorry guys it’s been a while but hope you enjoy this part!!! love u all
last part - next part
learning how to exist outside the hospital was something you still had to work on.
the weight of your shift finally lifted off your shoulders the second you kicked of your shoes at the door. the painful ache in your lower back slowly fading when you dropped on the couch.
you absentmindedly checked your notifications, eyes flickering to one in particular.
you smiled to yourself. you always had that strange feeling when you caught yourself doing something like that.
something like smiling at his texts, or when someone mentioned something that made you think of him, walking into a bookshop and looking at books he would like.
michael are you working today?
he was bluffing, he knew you were working, he knew everyone of your shifts.
you smiled before you even realized it.
you i was. just got home
michael oh.
you why?
michael i drove past the hospital
you on purpose
michael maybe…
you couldn’t stop smiling. he was so sweet. incredibly kind and very handsome. but you hated to admit it.
you were brought back to reality when you phone vibrated in your hands again.
michael this feels strange
you what does?
michael texting you instead of waiting until i got injured
you read it twice. did he just admit he liked texting you? you smiled harder, if that was even possible.
you keep it that way please
the conversation started just like that, simple, casual. not flirting or anything, just two people talking. and it felt good. finally being able to talk to someone who made you feel so simple, someone who could lift the pressure of the day off your shoulders, someone who could make you smile and laugh even through a screen. but that was also what scared you the most. how vulnerable he was making you feel, how easily you were opening up to him. it was scary, but you trusted him.
michael home game on saturday
and almost immediately the second text came
michael if you’re not working maybe
you are you trying to invite me to your game?
michael no pressure but yes
you smiled, because of the invitation, but also because you could practically hear him overthinking every word. deleting every sentence before rewriting them and pressing send.
your thumbs hovered over the screen
you i’ve never been to a football game before
his reply was quick.
michael really?? it might be time then
you let out a quiet laugh, the kind of unexpected laugh that escapes without permission.
you i won’t even know what’s happening
michael that’s okay i’ll explain afterwards
not during, not before. afterwards.
he wasn’t inviting you because he wanted someone to admire him, but because he wanted to share something he loved.
your heart softened, and without thinking, you typed the words out.
you i’ll be there
saturday arrived quicker than you’d expected.
for someone who had spent years making difficult life or death decisions without hesitation, choosing what to wear suddenly felt impossible.
your wardrobe was scattered around the room.
a grey jumper?
no, too plain.
a black jacket?
too formal.
a cream knit sweater?
maybe.
you changed three times before finally giving in.
you received a face time call from sophie, instantly picking up.
she glanced behind you at the room before bursting out laughing.
”what happened in there?”
you don’t even glance behind you before answering.
”i have nothing to wear.”
she raised an eyebrow.
”you do own clothes.”
”they all look wrong.”
”you’re going to a football game, not the oscars.”
”i know that.”
”so why have you tried on four outfits.”
you sighed.
”five actually.”
she folded her arms.
”you like him.”
this time, it was hard to deny.
”i know.”
”and you’re terrified.”
”a little.”
she smiled.
”you’re so easy to read.”
”stop oh my god.”
”i’ve never seen you nervous before.”
”me neither that’s why i dont get it. i’ve intubated patients. i’ve seen people go into cardiac arrest, i’ve pronounced people dead, i don’t get why i’m nervous now.”
”because none of those people ever invited you into their life.”
that sentence hung in the call.
she didn’t tease you like she usually does.
instead she looked around.
”wear the cream jumper.”
the stadium came into view long before you reached it.
even from afar, its lights cut into the dark evening sky like beacons.
as you got closer, the atmosphere changed.
supporters spilled onto the pavement, wrapped in club colors, scarves hanging from their necks despite the mild weather.
children raced ahead. wearing shirts several sizes too big who flapped around their knees because the parents claimed they would grow into them.
the scent of grilled onions, fries and coffee drifted into the cool evening air.
and suddenly it felt less like a sporting event and more like an entire city coming together to celebrate.
you stepped out your car and simply stood there. taking everything in.
the noise hit you first.
thousands of conversations blending into a constant hum.
laughter.
vendors shouting, trying to sell their products.
the occasional chant beginning somewhere in the distance.
you’d never experienced something quite like this.
hospitals are loud, yes. but this wasn’t the same loud. this was, excitement.
maybe hope or anticipation.
and that calmed your nerves.
he had texted you where to enter before the game started.
you followed the signs, walked through a crowded hall filled with journalists and press who all wondered who you were, climbed endless concrete steps until you finally reached the stands.
the sight stole the breath from your lungs.
the pitch stretching endlessly below you. perfectly striped grass glowing beneath the floodlights.
it suddenly felt very small.
not the stadium, but your understanding of michael.
for months you only knew him beneath harsh fluorescent hospital light or the dark parking lot.
you never stopped to think that the whole world knew him differently. that those seventy five thousand people knew him differently.
the announcer’s voice brought you back to reality, echoing around the stadium.
the crowd erupted as the players emerged from the tunnel, a wave of applause crashing through.
you immediately started searching, finding him almost instantly.
you weren’t sure how. perhaps you became a bit too familiar with the way he walked. his relaxed shoulders, his easy stride.
he smiled slightly as he applauded the supporters.
he looked, different. healthier and lighter.
he was exactly where he was supposed to be, and that made you happier than you could’ve imagined.
you noticed the things nobody around you seemed to really care about.
you didn’t care about the shots, the passes, but rather how he checked on is teammates averted rough tackles, or how he offered a hand to an opponent instead of celebrating winning the challenge.
or just in general how often he encouraged, reassured. he was constantly talking too, never complaining, just supporting, leading the team.
that brought a smile to your face.
it reminded you of the hospital.
how gentle he was there too. just in a completely different language.
but then he went down, hard. the crowd fell strangely quiet as he rolled on the freshly watered grass.
everything inside you changed. your pulse spiked and you were already scanning.
head? neck? shoulders? can he move?
your fingers tightened around the edge of your seat, knuckles slowly going white.
you don’t even realize it.
’is he okay?’
everything was going on so quickly, but it felt so slow in your head.
you don’t know it yet, if he’s okay. not until he pushed himself back onto his feet.
only then does the tightness in your chest loosen.
you sunk back into your seat, looking around you, embarrassed at how quickly instinct had taken over.
maybe it was because you still had your doctor brain on.
but deep down you knew that wasn’t the case.
it was because it was michael.

distraction
jamal musiala x fem!reader
(1k) what was supposed to be a quiet beach day, turned into jamal constantly disturbing your peace.
no warnings just jamal being needy asf
a/n: i love me some munchen muncher
The beach was supposed to be relaxing.
That had been the entire point.
A quiet stretch of coastline somewhere in Greece, hidden enough that the tourists hadn’t reached yet. The sea sparkled under the sun, waves rolling onto the shore while music could be quietly heard from a nearby beach bar.
It was peaceful.
A kind of peace you had been waiting for all year.
Work had been draining you. Between reports, meetings and endless shifts. You yearned for a quiet evening.
Until Jamal arrived.
”You know,” He dropped into the towel next to you, eyes drifting towards your body, wrapped in a tiny yellow bikini.
”I dont think that bikini is very considerate.”
You lowered your sunglasses. Eyes squinting as the sun hit your eyes.
”Excuse me?”
He shrugged innocently, pulling his shirt over his head and revealing his toned athlete body.
”It’s distracting.”
You laughed. “You’ve been here for like thirty seconds.”
”And that’s enough to make me lose the ability to think.”
”Oh poor you.”
”It’s truly tragic.”
He stared at you with a smile. That infuriating smile that always ment he was about to make your life difficult.
The sun was hitting even harder than before. You could feel your skin almost bubbling under the harsh rays.
You reached inside your bag, pulling out a white sunscreen container and rubbing it on your skin.
He watched carefully as your hands grazed over your arms, stomach and legs. Eyes never leaving your shiny body, even when you struggled to apply some on your back.
“You’ve missed a spot.”
You looked at him over your shoulder. “What?”
”Sunscreen.”
”I definitely didn’t.
”You definitely did.”
You sighed dramatically before holding the bottle out behind you.
”Fine then fix it.”
He smirked.
Big mistake.
You could hear him shuffling behind you, rubbing the sunscreen on your hands.
He reached for your skin, the sunscreen spreading across your back smoothly, warm against your sun kissed skin.
Slowly, almost too slowly.
You could feel his stare burning through you, imagining that annoying grin on his face.
”Jamal.”
He hummed.
”Normal people don’t take this long to apply sunscreen.”
”I just want to make sure you’re protected.”
“From the sun?”
”Mhm.”
His tongue stuck out a little, just like he always did when he was focused. His fingertips skimmed across your shoulder blade and reached under the thin strings of your top as he finished.
”There.”
You held your hand behind your back, reaching for the bottle as he handed it to you.
“Done?”
He tilted his head.
“Maybe i should just double check to make sure.”
You turned your head just enough to narrow your eyes at him.
”You’re enjoying this way too much.”
”I’m just taking in the view.”
”You’re unbelievable.”
”I’ve been told, yeah.”
You shook your head, but there was still a noticeable smile on your face.
The sun had started settling over the horizon. An orange glow reflected on the water.
You were ankle deep in the sea when you felt two hands settle on your waist. "Most people announce themselves you know."
"I thought you would recognize me."
"I did."
"So what's the problem."
"There isn't one."
His chin rested on your shoulder. The waves rolled around your legs and his hands drifted dangerously low.
"You've been clingy today." Your remark wasn't intended to be mean or sound like a criticism. It was just an observation.
"I've been affectionate."
"Isn't that just the same thing."
"No it's completely different."
You smiled despite yourself.
Back on the sand, you were stretched out on your towel with a book in your hand.
Three pages. That was all you'd managed.
A shadow fell across you, blocking the last sun rays and making it impossible for you to see the words on the page.
"What now."
You looked behind you to see Jamal, standing there with two drinks in his hands. Lowering his body into a crouched positon next to you.
"I brought you something."
You reached to grab it and smiled. "Thank you."
He didn't leave. He stayed there, watching you as you picked up your book. Analyzing all your movement, memorizing them.
"Why are you still standing there."
"I'm waiting."
"For?"
"My kiss."
You blinked. Cheeks warming up instantly.
"You're incredibly needy."
"Only for you."
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn't stop smiling.
You grabbed onto his swim shorts, pulling him down towards you and crashing your lips onto his.
He hummed into the kiss, visibly satisfied.
Poor Jamal was left with a frown on his face when you pulled away from the kiss. His hands never leaving your body.
"There."
"What?"
"Happy?"
"I can never get enough of you."
You looked away, smiling.
Even if you and Jamal had been dating for more than a year now. You were always so flustered when he praised you like this. He would never hide it, always telling you how beautiful and perfect you were. He made you feel loved, and you loved him for that too.
"Jamal you've lost your mind."
"I lost it this morning probably."
You paused, "When?"
"When you walked out the bathroom wearing that." He gestured his hands vaguely towards you, circling around your bikini.
You playfully threw your book at him and he caught it effortlessly, laughing.
By sunset, the beach was almost empty.
The noise from earlier had faded into little more than distant conversations and waves were now crashing harder.
You sat side by side, watching the horizon turn into shades of orange and pink.
His hand had found your thigh beneath the edge of the towel, absentmindedly tracing slow circles with his thumb.
"You've been impossible today," you murmured.
"I know."
"You kept distracting me."
"I know."
"I couldn't even finish my book."
"I noticed."
You laughed softly.
"So this was your plan?"
"My plan?"
"Keeping my attention all day."
He looked over at you, the fading sunlight reflecting on the edges of his smile.
"I didn't have a plan."
"No?"
He shook his head.
"I just like it when you're looking at me."
You held his gaze for a second longer than usual.
"And if I wasn't?"
"I would've kept finding reasons."
His hand squeezed yours gently.
"You know..."
"What?"
"I still think you're distracting."
You leaned into his shoulder with a smile.
"And I still think you're lucky you're cute."
He laughed quietly.
"I know."
