Talking to Lily and a few other friends that wanted the best for him, had brought Chris to a decision. It wasn't one he wanted to come to but Ashley kept pushing him away every time he tried to help her. This was a woman that was his best friend, his lover and then his girlfriend. He had loved her and was happy to move her and the kids in with him but lately she seemed like a different person. She was nothing like the Ashley that he used to love to hang out with or that each confided their happy moments and their heartbreak too. When Sabrina had broken things off with him to choose Max, Ashley was the one that was there for him to pick up the pieces and love him. Lately, she had changed so much and not just in her appearance. He was genuinely worried for her but anytime he tried to talk to her, she got upset.
He had been in the gym working out and sighed when he heard her voice. Losing a friend was painful enough but losing someone you thought was your soulmate was another form of pain. "I was in the gym." He told her as he walked out and threw a towel around his shoulders. "The gym always helps me think."
Every fiber of her wanted to point out how hypocritical it was for him to say that to her when he got all tense any time she went to the gym, but she kept her mouth shut. "Good workout?"
She walked to the kitchen and grabbed them each a bottle of water.
Things felt weird between them. It never used to be like this. "Can we talk?" she finally asked, tossing him a bottle.
