wanted to share something that happened last year during artfight that made me more excited for this year- despite it being a lil sad to hear
Im working my corporate retail job and I take time during my break to work on an attack.
Naturally, coworker across from me asks what Iām working on and I tell him the basic premise. āThereās a game between artists where we split into teams and create art for each other. Most points winā
He asks me, āand you win money from this?ā
āNo itās just for fun.ā
āOh, you have time for fun.ā
And that sentence reeaaally irked me to the point where Iām still thinking about it a year later. Because I really donāt have the time for fun, but somehow I still make that time.
Iām sat there on my break doing this, Iām making attacks on the way to work and coming home. I dedicate a few hours before and after work despite meaning Iāll be over tired and not getting an 8 hours sleep. And itās not even just artfight I do this for, itās art and creation in general.
And I know this coworkers stance on āfunā, he works multiple jobs and all two of his hobbies have some sort of business-minded gain. I felt sympathy for that but a bit more affirmed. Whenever I think that Iām not doing enough as an artist, I remember that im doing a lot more than what is being allowed by that shitty part of my life-
