These are my two favs. This is Bartholomew Franklin McCabbagepatch. His only appearance in the series is from manga that has only ever been translated into Portuguese. Said manga is set in the 67th era which takes interpretation from medieval Austria. And heâs been implied to have made a contract with the demon of skibidi toilet. Something many of us consider key points in our interpersonal growth as youths was taken from you, not without reason but without care for its impact on you. I hope you know we are eternally allies in our struggles and if that is something you struggle to know I hope you can learn it someday."
Because so many of the angriest, most disenfranchised people I see on this website are under 24 and I often try to put younger people's behavior in the context of where they might have been 2020. I've seen the impact on my siblings and their peers+friends first hand, all ages 18-24. We've talked about how its impacted them, the isolation, the attachment to the internet, the anxieties and phobias and fears it developed in them due to the pandemic, the political unrest, and the responses to both that we've seen since. I know they're not the only ones and I know how much being marginalized also influences that impact too.
It's terrifying. I know it must be terrifying for a lot of the young people on Tumblr too. I hope one day we're able to bridge all of those complex feelings into something collective and positive so we can do our best to prevent similar traumas from happening to future generations.
I'm sort of obsessed with tachigin's like relationship with gender norms. The below is a very funny conclusion for Tachihara to reach from Gin offering him peach lotion. This isn't substantiated of course, but I think this also relates to my inkling that Tachihara didn't like become attracted to Gin after he found out she was a girl nor did he feel any type of way about any prior attraction that he may have felt. I dont think Tachihara perceives gender meaningfully or in a social context; he's a little punk brat so he's defensive but like instead of experiencing his defensiveness around his masculinity, he's like I'm no baby đ¤ it did not occur to him that Gin would have peach lotion because she likes sweeter, "girly" scents because her tastes are generally girly. This kind of makes sense considering the only four women he knows are Higuchi, Yosano, Gin, and Teruko, all of whom are girly but all of whom are unhinged such that their girliness is more like a garnish. Their girliness is like paprika.
Like their girliness is core to their personalities but in the way that paprika feels core to classic deviled eggs. Like the paprika isn't making or breaking the flavor, but it adds some complexity and is visually striking.
Which is to say that tachigin is an inherently queer couple and it's because they're both bisexual, and I guess maybe because Gin is to some extent fluid. but also because tachihara seemingly does not perceive Gin as a girl in general. Like he knows she's a girl. Logically. But Gin is Gin to him.
So i'd like to amend what I said above. He clearly has some internal biases indicating he does perceive gender in a social context (ex: he conflates fruity/sweet/"girly" lotion with childishness), but he does not comprehend Gin through a gendered lens and did not reorient around her at all when he found out she was a girl. That info changed quite literally nothing for him, did not recontextualize her at all in his mind, and seemingly does not register as meaningful. as far as we've seen, he's never once really reacted to the reveal. she was more femme presenting in the hospital and spoke in her very girly voice and while i know he was dealing with a lot more pressing shit at that particular moment, he was wholly unfazed. by contrast, Higuchi continuously reacts to the reveal and recontextualizes Gin and her relationship with Gin in light of the reveal. (Hirotsu doesn't react to the reveal either but i also don't think it was a reveal to him; he's known her since she joined the PM and probably knew the entire time she was a girl.)
all of this is to say that in sskk bridezillas au higuchi is like wow it's weird to see Gin in heels so frequently and Tachihara, who has learned not to let her kick him while she's in civvies, is like you mean her feet knives.
