It starts off as a creeping feeling
Watching you from a distance
A thought at the back of your mind but not fully aware
Once it latches on is where it gets more difficult
Your steps feel a bit heavier
You think, maybe I just need a break
Live a bit slower for a while
But then a while becomes the new normal
You haven't done much in a week
It crawls its way up to your stomach
And nestles itself within your apitite
And even if you do, you don't have the energy
Then, eventually it will reach your heart
This is when you really start to notice it
For the heart and mind are connected
It turns them against each other
Causing turbulence and disruption
A heavy cloud lingers in the mind
And a cold hand clenches the heart
And you don't know what to do
All you want is to lay down
It's dark, and it's lonely
