Steve was always a fan of your voice.
He had stumbled upon it one afternoon when he’d accidentally left his binder in the same classroom the choir kids used to practice in. He’d stealthily made his way in while his peers sang, rehearsing for the winter concert. He was nearly out the door when your voice stopped him, beautiful enough to shake him to his core. He had turned to see just who owned such a melodic voice and had smiled when he saw you singing, eyes closed as you felt every note.
Ever since then he attended every choir concert. He paid the entrance fee and dressed up a little nicer in order to look like he belonged. His friends were relentless and made fun of him for it. Choir kids were never popular and many wondered why someone as popular as Steve even bothered going just to listen to them sing the same songs they always did.
“Seriously Harrington? The winter concert? You’re paying to hear Christmas songs you can hear on the radio?”
“Shut up. I’m supporting our school.”
