I included this in today's patreon post as an encouraging little art joke, but on second-thought I think it should be preached to the masses.

I've been drawing for so long that I didn't even realize that this had to be said but- Yup! When tracing backgrounds like this, keep your usual style and proportions in mind and aim to make the final art more fun than the reference rather than identical to it.

You’re not supposed to be able to tell “weird” abled neurotypicals and disabled/mentally ill people apart, you’re just supposed to treat people with respect generally speaking. It’s not that hard. “I didn’t know they were disabled” is just not the excuse you think it is cause you’re not supposed to make fun of anyone for completely harmless differences regardless of whether said differences are related to a disability or not.
