[06.08.26, thursday] - august update (rant)
So, I made it to Finland. But let's recap.
Last couple of weeks, my boyfriend came to Spain and we spent ten days-ish doing multiple things, trying all the restaurants I wanted to take him to, and spending time with my family. Finally the day arrived, the goodbye was harder than other times, although it still didn't feel real for me. It still doesn't.
This past week and half I was at my boyfriends, running errands and making lists like a maniac, buying everything I needed for my first ever own apartment, from which I'm writing right now. This is the first night I'm spending over, I've finally emptied my suitcases and I'm testing the (hard as fuck) mattress that came with the "furnished" student place.
It's not feeling as exciting as I expected, actually this past days I've been a bit anxious. I think my body is not processing that I'm actually living here, and that being couple days away from my bf doesn't mean I'm going back to not seeing him for months. God, everybody talks about how hard long distance relationships are, but nobody warns you about the moment you live in the same city. It's always been apart or 24/7 together, so this in between is so weird, and my body is not cooperating with my mind. Logically, I know we're in the same city, I can go over anytime, we're gonna see each other in a couple of days and we need our own time too, but seems like it's not getting it, and I have the same awful feeling of when I know it's time to say goodbye and go back home :'D
I start uni next week, which I'm incredibly excited for, especially for meeting new people and getting some kind of routine. It also still doesn't feel real, that I'm going back to being a student and I'm gonna experience this uni life being an international student as I've always wanted, but I can't wait for it to start. I've already met twice my classmate I had already been talking thanks to the uni app, and I'm feeling good vibes, so incredibly thankful I'm not gonna be lost and alone the first day. He's also finnish, which is gonna definitely help.
Language studying wise, I took another break when my bf came to Spain. I could say it was my holidays, but I had just been being consistant for little over a month, so I'll shut up. But once again, I'm restarting, and pretty motivated. I came back to the library I spent so many evenings last November, borrowed an easy finnish book and did some work. Planning to stay as consistent as possible with self-studying, plus I'll be taking finnish classes at uni, plus I'm gonna try put myself out there and attend one of those language cafΓ©s I've been eyeing for a while. I'm feeling pretty motivated, hopefully it lasts. So, today:
-> 20 mins of Anki (god I felt so bad I didn't remember shit after the three week break, but we're back with it)
-> 15 mins of making new flashcards with the vocab from my last italki class
-> 15 mins of grammar exercises, homework from my italki lessons
-> 10 mins of active reading (cause my tablet decided to stop working and that it was time to go home)
Although bit of a rough start, happy to finally be here, and happy to be back βοΈ
