i dreamed last night that chapter 6 was coming out already. toby decided to advertise it exclusively through really zoomed in screenshots of kris in different places, with captions that were all like "you remember having fun here." "you remember being scared." "you remember worrying about your friends." anyways this culminated in toby posting an enteirly black image with a silly looking sprite of kris smiling captioned "you remebry oub." or something similar and the whole community lost it trying to decipher what it could mean
Follow up to my previous light world Ralsei post that puts him in actual clothes insted of a carpet.
I still dont have any story tied to this design. But I'm counting on one (1) like minded deltarune hyperfixated freak to do the creative writing work for me. So look out for that. No pressure :)
(But seriously tho no pressure about needing to hurry and finish it for some internet stranger, Im just grateful something I drew inspired another person creatively and wanted to highlight it!!)
Anyway, abt the actual design. At first I just wanted to swap and warm up the colors of his cloak and scarf. But as I added more ideas like the diamond sweater vest and striped scarf I realized it looked a lot like a holiday-esqe outfit. Maybe the clothes were lent from noelle, or Ralsei just coincidentally chose clothes that matched with the other mage of the group without thinking about it.
oh also ralsei gets a skirt
he deserves to be able to wear skirts and dresses.

Ive seen some interpretations and fan works of ralsei/darkners being given the ability to go to the light world. Usually they dont change design designs at all despite the reverse happening with lighteners into the dark world.
Because chapter 5 is three sunsets away I thought it a good a time as ever to do a design of a hypothetical light-world ralsei.
I wanted him to give pathetic stray dog. Because when the first chapter came out I at first always interpreted him as having this rough scraggy fur. And I feel like it would be an interesting concept to have light world darkeners be in comparison incredibly weak and nearly unrecognizable to when they're in the dark world. Trading their magic, strength, and parts of their identity in order to be real.
Feel free to use/iterate on this concept & design for other stuff! Some credit would be nice if anybody did tho. I might want to actually write out a story of my own or just make more designs of light world darkners for fun.
Regardless if you liked or disliked the movie (I personally loved it, honestly a solid 8.5/10), we can ALL agree the anti spoiler message at the beginning was PEAK

Yeah, I'm gonna be honest, I think trans Jax headcannoners were onto something because theres a lot more there than you'd think. Especially the ribbit scenes, can we talk about the ribbit scenes, Tumblr? Ive been dying to talk about the ribbit scenes with you ever since I saw them.

Look, I have all the sympathy in the world for Jax. As much as he deserved this, I desperately want to see him change and grow as a person. But goose decided not to show Jax or any of the abstracted be turned back and I'm totally fine with that. Totally, definitely. I understand how bringing them back retroactively cheapens the cost of death. And that its up for the audience to decide wether in the nebulous space of after a stories ending does the circus figure out how to bring everyone back. Mhm.

You know what, speaking of bringing back the dead. Let's talk about Caine!

Caine got to bounce back from being deleted and (unlike every other artificial intelligence in fiction) when connected to the internet grew a deeper understanding and connection to the humans. Understanding what he did wrong and got the privilege to apologize for the months upon years of torture he'd both accidentally and purposefully done to them.
Again, eternal sympathy, loved that he got to ghange and crow.
But like.
hhhhhh i have complicated feelings towards Jax much like everyone in the show and (some of) the people who watch it.
Im glad that 7/8 of the circus got to have a happy ending.
I can see how people might construed the episode as being cheap and fluffy and not the dark and gritty tragedy they expected. Or hell, have hang ups with the Caine revival and journey to the center of Jax's mind.
