And Gilbert wouldnât have expected anything less from Ludwig. He was waiting on his side of the couch, leaving the side where Roderich would normally sit unoccupied, even when he could stretch out across the entire length of the couch now if he wanted. He heard the knock and jumped up right away. Engelchen was close at his heels, her tail wagging as usual, tongue lolling.
When he answered the door, he didnât even get the time to let the dog poke her nose out first, like she enjoyed doing â she insisted upon greeting visitors before he did. He nearly leapt forward to tug Ludwig into a tighter, more energetic hug than the younger brother could possibly be used to. âHey, you made it. Were we just going out for a couple drinks, orâ â
A hug had been expected - it seemed to have become the norm when it came to his visits, and that was probably a good thing - but how tightly the other held him was something he hadn't anticipated. In retrospect, he should have; after all, Gilbert was about to be married. He was likely a bit more enthusiastic than usual.
The contact was something he clearly wasn't overly used to, but nonetheless, Ludwig returned the hug and patted his brother's back. Smiles on such a stoic face could look sort of odd, but he smiled now nonetheless. "Of course." He couldn't miss this. He'd missed too much else already. "I figured? If Roderich won't mind you being out an hour or two--"
