#25. And so I've decided to stop the tradition that I started prob 10 years ago. Young and dumb but it was fun ☺. And today I decided to do 2x5 things instead. 1. Did prayers and offerings, 2. cooked, 3. read, 4. listened to happy birthday (no more n times), palette and hpbd on erhu, 5. watched ryeowook agit on starry night recorded w zhoumi and turns out rw released an ost also titled starry night today, 6. enjoyed my own version of high tea at home, 7. planted some seeds, 8. yoga and workout, 9. penned down my thoughts, 10. 5 years ago, it was a Saturday too. And since then, things have changed. How have you been all these while? Few days ago, I dreamt that you were annoyed at me for being super last min and taking v long to get ready, just like how you used to ngiam me for taking my own sweet time to pack my stuff in the morning and you had to wait for me and you risked being late for work. 😅 I guess these are the small little things that didn't change, including how I still miss you a lot. And with the recent cb, I wish you were here with us too to enjoy stay home time and bond together. And I recently realised I love toast and have been eating it for breakfast almost everyday, which reminds me of our breakfast sessions every morning before going to school/work, and on weekends you would drive us to the market to have breakfast as a family and I will complain that you always eat the same food. Now I know who i take after and why I don't mind eating toast everyday HAHAHA. And now with wfh, I wish you were here for me to witness how you are like at work for your colleagues to be praising you as hardworking, humble and responsible. But I think you would probably be struggling with technology and those "sky-pee" meetings HAHAHA. And everytime when work is tough, I will always think of you and how much you have sacrificed to support the family. Cos of cb, I have started to cook more frequently. I remember there were times I was supposed to cook dinner for you cos mum was out. You probably returned home from work, tired and hungry, but I was still struggling in the kitchen and you told me it's okay and to be careful. I think now my cooking has improved since then and I wish you were here to try them and give me your ratings. Maybe instead of always dabaoing from the same store, you might request me to cook the same food for you HAHAHA. Staying at home makes me miss you more. 2019 in a nutshell: Jan: Last month of sas bia days. Passed last sas exam w flying colours top scorer wew HAHAHA and i really enjoyed those days burning midnight doing and fretting over ponpare project. And yay to dream team hehe. On hindsight sas bia 4 months were the best 4 months of work ever HAHAHA. Feb: Finally real work started. Super thankful that i have rachel and cat going uob with me and there's zainul and jianhua there too. On hindsight damn impt to have people you can click with and lunch tgt at work place. And yay to having sas ppl who understand my workplace rants when i complained to them haha. And TQ to the constant few for always listening to my rants. Mar: Reignited my passion for co after going back to ntu every other day for co LOL. On hindsight i realised i had v little co commitments this year. Apr: Transitted from cards team to campaigns team to replace purple. Started to do more bau/perm role job rather than adhoc stuff. Potentially my first breakdown of the year LOL. May: Things at work started to stablise and through campaigns team i got to know more people in uob and glad that i left a mark through my work and people rmb me and customers receive mkt notification because of my work :') Jun: Living in a month of worrying and confusion dk if uob gna convert me and if they convert dk if i wna stay. Also, I started making effort and taking time out to meet ppl. This made me realised I have a choice to not let my workload determine if i am free or not to meet ppl. Yay to muffinry discovery and i realised i have unleashed the inner jiugui in me GG LOL. Jul: Yazers showcase and yazers bali choir competition. On hindsight i realised this year i didn't travel alot. Another year has passed. How have you been? It's on days like this that I think about you and miss you even more. 4 years ago, I can't wait to faster grow up so that I can quickly take over your role and have the ability to take care of Mummy and the family. And now that I have started to assume your role to be the breadwinner of the family, I have learnt to appreciate all that you have done for us even more. It is definitely not easy to juggle family and work at the same time but I know without fail you will always prioritise us first. I will always remember all the sacrifices you have made. You will continue to inspire me and will always be my role model. And being at work, the people I work with remind me so much of you. I would imagine how you will be like working with your colleagues, how "uncle" you will be like going to the same few places for lunch and eating the same standard food, and how you will grin from ear to ear as you chit chat with your colleagues and talk about your daughter and her achievements. :') And on days when it's tough at work, I would want to share with you the troubles and difficulties I face and listen to what you have to say or advise. I regret not opening up to you about my thoughts and feelings (accept for that one and only time during that father and daughter bonding time over alcohol) because I'm the kind who prefer to keep them to myself. And now that I can finally understand how it is like to be a working adult, I want to hear from you as well. Sorry if I have not been an understanding daughter back then. And I remember when I was really young, I used to look forward to seeing you come back home or even being lame by hiding behind the wall to surprise you when you come back. But now, I wish you will be the one giving me the surprise. Even though you may not be physically here with us, you are always with us in our memories, our prayers, and our hearts. Guess who grads again in less than a year HAHAHAHA. Really grateful to land myself into this programme which was what I wanted since I've heard about it. And after many weeks and months of self deception that good things are worth the wait during the period of job searching, I'm just thankful that it came true eventually. Felt like I've learnt so many new concepts and knowledge in the past four months that I'm actl quite shock and impressed at myself hahaha. And glad for the fun-loving and helpful batchmates. Really very glad to have met all of y'all. TQ for all the fun joy and laughter, and all the ridiculous things we do, from bridge, slither, draw my things, happy family, movie, to random dinner/chill/hangout session. Highlights of 2018. Jan: First time watching overseas live countdown. Wanted to go for countdown events in Korea but it was too cold so I tried to stream live countdown LOL. Q cool see them celebrate the traditional way by hitting the big gong LOL. Be a badass and pon first week of add drop to go Japan (Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Osaka) and totally no regrets. Feb: Being badass again and for the last time. Decided to pon lessons to go msia for CNY. Mar: Many many many meetups w people. Rmb there was this day I met sec/jc friends in the day and pri/uni friends at night. Apr: Last month of chiong and feeling like a student. Took last train from pioneer before. Stayed up overnight at hive. Toh. But now looking back I guess it's things I can't do again even if I want LOL. May: Grad trip 1 to HK w Jia Yi and Mindy. TQ for the grad trip. Memorable key events include: foggy Buddha, lost mickey in disneyland but managed to found it, I miss yuanyang. Jun: Grad trip 2 to TW. Temple stay x extended solo trip (without Mum knowing and till today I still wonder if she dk or pretend dk). The thought of a solo trip was cool until the day comes and suddenly you realised things are getting real and you are all alone. But definitely no regrets and I enjoyed the flexibility deciding where and when to go. Jul: Convocation and you find it amazing how you have survived 15 years of education but yet at the same time thankful for the quality education you have received. Aug: Reconnecting with the CO passion after many months of hiatus. Found myself packed with prac and concerts. CCO x PCO x SUTDCO. Sept: Job search getting slightly more serious but atst procrastinating and using enjoying life for the last time as an excuse. Meanwhile scheduled more meetups/catch up session while everyone can still make it. Oct: Start of SAS BIA Program. Really very thankful to get accepted into my first job choice and I didn't have to face the dilemma of rejecting any offers in fear that SAS decides to offer/or not offer me in the future. And thankful for great colleagues for making work more enjoyable. 25th July 2018. I was constantly reminded of how amazing it was to be where I am today. To go through 15 years of education, the ups and downs, the midnight oil burnt, the stress from every test and assignment. Never imagined a day like this would really come true cos it has always felt like a far away thing. Really too many things to be thankful for and would definitely go back in time and tell my younger self that I will make it eventually, whenever I feel like giving up. :') It felt like it was my birthday LOL. And quote Mum, it was "人生大事, 今天她最美, 下一次是结婚的时候". 😂 Really felt like I was the star that day, and feeling all the love by everyone. Feeling so happy surrounded by happy vibes everywhere. 🤗 And I remember when I was in sec 3/4, Dad told me one of my cousins was graduating and I replied I want to grad too 😂. And my parents told me "you haven't even finish jc you want to grad from uni, that's still many years later!" And many years later, my wish came true and I have finally grad! 毕业咯 🎉🎊👩🏻‍🎓 ~ !
