One Shot for Maggie.
Maggie/Niall (Meeting at a party for the first time)
“Maggie! You’re here! Come in!” My best friend ushered me inside and immediately began rushing around, pointing to things spread out across the room. “Over there is the DJ, he’s taking requests. Over there is the bar, grab yourself a drink. The kitchen is back there and the dance floor is right here!” She twirled her arms around in the air as she spun.
“Happy birthday!” I shouted at her as she twirled away from me. My best friend was throwing herself her own twenty first birthday party. I was only eighteen, so I stayed away from the bar. I’d flown over from the United States last week to visit her and I was still becoming accustomed to the British lifestyle.
“I’ve never seen you here before.”
I yelped and spun, facing a tall boy with ice blue eyes. I coughed as I discretely tried to check him out. He was taller than I was, with dyed blonde hair, though I could see his brown roots. His skin was a creamy, milky white and he had cute, white braces on his teeth. I frowned for a moment and then looked up at him.
“Was that an Irish accent I heard?”
The boy smiled. “You’d be correct. The name’s Niall.”
“Hi Niall,” I smiled. “I’m Maggie. I’m,” I looked around and rolled my eyes, pointing to where my best friend was gyrating on the dance floor. “I’m her best friend.”
“I haven’t seen you around here before though?” Niall asked, leaning against the wall.
“I’m visiting from America.”
Niall nodded. “Ah. That explains the accent.”
I chuckled. “So how do you know her?”
“She works for me,” Niall shrugged.
I blinked. “What do you do exactly?”
Niall laughed. “I’m a singer. She’s one of our interns at Syco Records. We see her a lot when we go in to talk to Simon.”
My eyes bulged. “Wait, Simon as in Simon Cowell?”
Niall nodded. “The one and only.”
“Blimey,” I said, still wide-eyed.
Niall snickered. “Don’t look so shell shocked. He’s a really nice guy.”
“I’m sure he is.” I looked around, noticing how most of the girls in the room were either clustered around four boys on the sofa, or glaring over at me and Niall. The boys on the sofa looked up and all of them smiled at me, waving at me. I frowned and awkwardly waved back before turning back around.
“The one in the jacket is Zayn,” Niall began explaining. “The one with all the hair is Harry.”
“Appropriate name,” I mused.
“The one with the blue eyes and Peter Pan haircut is Louis, like the French, and the other guy is Liam. They’re in my band with me.” Niall grinned proudly.
“I’ll have to hear you guys sing sometime,” I chuckled.
Niall nodded and kept smiling. “Yeah,” He said. “You definitely should.”
