Rewatching Fairy Tail atm and there is something so aesthetically pleasing about the 2009 scenery. Such a fantastic use of perspective and color, and that's not even considering the main story line. I still get nostalgic over how uniquely real everything looked

Fantasy usually starts with place and often emphasizes place in the universe. Fantasy is also uniquely positioned to rely on place in a way that other genres do not (which is why fantasy maps are almost always universally at the beginning of the book, your first experience).

But Fairy Tail specifically leans into this in such a lovely way. They often display maps on screen/page in a way that isn't necessary, but really establishes a "world" and space that itself is beautiful. And even on the local level, the guildhall is such a precious space. A place for people, it's supposed to feel comfortable.

I think there's a reason that coziness and fantasy go so well together (consider how rarely you hear about cozy sci fi) and much of that relies on the connection between fantasy and place/spacial creation.
