The war has returned to us in a criminal and inhumane way, without any rules or restraint. Camps and hospitals are being bombed, children and medics are being killed in cold blood, and all international prohibitions have been violated.

Death rains down from the sky, and hunger consumes us from the ground.

We are trapped between two fires, there is no escape from the bombing, and no salvation from starvation.

My little child cries out from unbearable hunger, and I am powerless to comfort him, We have nothing left to eat except some green herbs I boil, hoping they will ease our hunger. 💔

In the past five days, we have received only 5 dollars, not even enough to buy bread for my child for a single day, Donations have tragically declined, and we can no longer afford even the bare minimum of necessities. 😥

Entire families have been forced to flee their homes under the relentless bombardment. Even the area they push us to, claiming it is "safe" (Al-Mawasi), is bombed daily without mercy.

The crossings are closed, aid is blocked, and escaping to a safe country is impossible.

It is a systematic plan of slow genocide, by missiles and by hunger.

From the heart of the siege, from amidst the destruction, from beneath the rubble…

I plead with you through the tears of a mother fighting to protect her child, with a body weakened by pregnancy and hunger, with a soul that holds on only to the hope in your compassionate hearts. 🥹

I am Shaima from Gaza, 32 years old, a mother of four children who have suffered from fear, displacement, and homelessness. Can you imagine? They are living through a horrific war for which they have no fault. Yet the war in Gaza has stolen their beauty and childhood, and burdened them with worries far beyond their years. They even search for water as if they have aged decades.

I am now the sole breadwinner for the family because my husband, Ibrahim, who has always been determined to succeed and who has been my primary source of inspiration and strength, was severely injured in the foot during the war and has lost his passion for everything, even his own medical care. He needs special treatment for his foot, and without it, he suffers from severe pain, fatigue, and exhaustion. What did he do to deserve this?

We lived in peace despite all the hardships, but in moments, we lost a great effort. We struggled and rebuilt ourselves from nothing, until God provided for us, but I never imagined that our struggle and effort would fade and never return. Our home, with all its beauty and warm memories, is buried under the rubble. I only grieve for the memories.

As for me, I won't talk about myself because everything that happened saddens and pains me. But to you, people of mercy, I place my hopes in you to save my family. My family and I are not safe from this war. I pray to God to help us survive this death, so that we can survive what remains of us. Please help us buy the basic necessities and leave Gaza so we can treat my husband's foot - the cost of leaving is $5,000 per person. Help us live a dignified life. After the war, so many children in Gaza lost not only their homes… They lost their classrooms, their notebooks, their teachers, their safe place to dream.

I’m Areej Khaled shatat an English teacher and That’s why I decided to start something small, but real:

📚 a community-based learning center for children after the war

A simple place where they can:

• Learn again

• Play again

• Feel safe again

• Slowly heal through stories, games, art, and language

This is not a big organization. It’s the heart project of a mother and an English teacher who believes that education is the first step toward healing.

What is the project?

“Hope Learning Center” (temporary name) – a small educational center that will:

• Host around 40–60 children divided into small groups

• Focus on:

• English basics

• Arabic & math support

• Emotional support through play, art, and storytelling

• Provide a warm, respectful, and safe space after everything they have seen.

How much does it cost?

I want to be very clear and transparent with the numbers.

Here is the basic monthly budget to run the center:

1. Rent for the place (5 small classrooms)

• Approx. 1,000 USD / month

2. Teachers & staff (for quality learning and care)

We plan to hire 4–5 teachers:

• 4 teachers × 400 USD = 1,600 USD / month

(English, Arabic, Math, and activities)

• If we add a 5th teacher / assistant: +400 USD (optional as we grow)

➡️ For the start, we calculate: 1,600 USD / month for teachers.

3. Basic furniture & equipment (one-time setup)

• Desks and chairs for 5 classrooms

• Whiteboards

• Shelves and storage

Estimated one-time cost: 1,200 USD

4. Learning materials (monthly)

• Notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers

• Printed worksheets

• Storybooks and simple reading material

5. Activities & emotional support tools

• Art supplies (colors, clay, paper, craft materials)

Summary of costs

One-time setup cost:

Hello everyone! The sign-ups for the Holiday 2025 Phandom Gift Exchange are now open!

This event is a gift exchange where people create a phanwork for who they are assigned; you don’t know who will be creating your gift, but you can be assured that their talents will match up to your requests!

How to Sign Up

The grand majority of people participating will be gifting a phanwork to another, therefore, you all will be gifters. The person you will be gifting for will (probably) not also be the person gifting for you. On the form, you’ll choose what kind of gifts you’d like and genres/tropes/themes/etc. you enjoy. You’re also encouraged to provide some more specific prompts. Sign-ups to be a gifter will close Saturday, November 29th at 11:59 PM.

If creating something might not be your thing, but you’d still like to participate in some capacity, you might be interested in being a beta! Betas assist gifters (especially fic writers) with their gifts. If you’re interested, send an ask or contact @husbants! More Details

The gifting assignments will not be random. The admins (@husbants and @ttlmt) will be matching up each gifter with a partner based on the gifter’s self-identified skills and the partner’s likes and prompts.

There will be separate under-18 and 18-and-older groups. A gifter will only be considered to gift for people within their age group.

We will be communicating through Tumblr DMs and email. There will also be a Discord (the link will be sent through email when assignments go out) and we’ll post updates and announcements there, too. Make sure your DMs are open so that we can contact you, you’re checking this blog, and you’re checking your email during the event!

When the gifters post their gifts on December 27th, they should tag both this account and their partner on the post. This blog will reblog everyone’s gift posts. Our Twitter will retweet anyone who cross-posts there. There will be an email sent out with more information about posting a couple days before December 27th.

Because this may actually be a possibility this round, we will be capping this event at 50 participants. Sign-ups will close early if 50 people sign up.

We’re really hoping this doesn’t happen, but if you are assigned to someone you have blocked or have any sort of issue with, contact one of the admins and we can switch around our own assignments or talk to someone signed up as a pinch-hitter and deal with it. If you know you definitely couldn’t gift for someone, you can also specify this on your sign-up form.
