"Captain." 

Kakashi turned, watching as Haruno approached him. They were outside, and in his tent, and back in the village, in his apartment he hasn't even seen in years. 

"You were too late," they murmured. Kakashi tracked the bruises on their face, the blacks and yellows and purples shifting, flowing like water. Their throat was crushed, and whole. His hand tore through them, and he was still. Blood coated them, and they were clean. 

"Who are you?" Kakashi asked. 

“Our troops cannot take much more of this! Morale is down! Runaways are increasing! Resources depleting! It has been years since some of our shinobi have seen their families, let alone stepped foot into their respective villages. We need a plan to stop this man—these traitors—once and for all.”
