ive been thinking about perceptor lately. specifically the differences between g1 and idw percy.

based on what ive read so far of idw (almost all of percy's rare pre-mtmte appearances and up to the nanocons thing, where i last rage quit) and the fandom osmosis ive gained of mtmte percy. i have to say that g1 perceptor is an infinitely more complex and interesting character than mtmte perceptor. which is honestly embarrasing

g1 percy is sweet, reckless at times, a bit snarky, empathetic, competent, and taking from megatron's handbook, "an exemplary scientist". of course, thats not as important as perceptor being a pathetic loser nerd. naturally

mtmte percy is just the boring side of her. the half of personality traits that weren't given to brainstorm and exaggerated. all because idiot writers couldnt handle writing a character like perceptor. they had to just take the competence and her huge volcabulary and couldnt help but forcibly extract all her whimsy. i can forgive pre-ahm idw for this because she's (unfortunately) just a side character in other's stories and never had the opportunity to show her personality. i can even forgive post-ahm for it. unique takes on preexisting characters are always welcome, even if i dont totally love it

what i cant forgive is splitting g1 perceptor in half to make 2 separate, worse characters. sorry hypothetical brainstorm fans that are reading this for some reason. mtmte brainstorm is just taking perceptor's inventions and joy for science and making it mad. g1 perceptor made some crazy ass inventions, some of which mtmte STOLE. LIKE THE TRANS REDUCTION BEAM. ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS AND IM STILL FUMING OVER THAT!! YOU CANT JUST TAKE PERCY'S INVENTION AND TURN IT INTO A GUN WHILE GIVING IT A DOGSHIT NAME BRAINSTORM!!! FUCK YOUUUUU!!!

ahem. anyways g1 percy made crazy shit, but she never went crazy about it. she competently worked on technology and things outside of her skillset and competently used them without testing and succeeded with them because PERCEPTOR. IS JUST. THAT. GIRL!!!

all of her work had a purpose. thats the difference between g1 perceptor's bullshit science, and mtmte brainstorm's. percy doesnt make things for shits and giggles because she's not a HACK or a FRAUD!!!!

in conclusion. mtmte perceptor and mtmte brainstorm are the most boring takes possible on g1 perceptor's character. due in part because they split that genius in half, yadda yadda the whole is greater than its parts, and because jro cant write for shit. just look at drift.

ive gotten my fourth headache so far... all from getting immensely pissed off while reading mtmte

im going to have a stoke while reading mtmte, i can feel it now. i hate how they rewrote drift into someone else, i hate rodimus, can't stand ratchet sometimes, thats not my ultra magnus, i want everyone here to die badly. i have to stop reading this shit for my own health
