Loyalty

Word always traveled fast around Chaldea and it wasn’t long before yet another Servant had come to him after hearing about his prowess in cooking.  It seems even the famous Knights of the Round table were interested in his talents, though he wasn’t surprised give how they king loved his food.

“And what would you ask of me, Sir Bedivere?”  Given his fondness for Artoria and how she had spoken about him, Archer assumed it had something to do with her.

Oh. Oh! how polite. Yes, this might just go smoothly. “I was hoping you would teach me how to cook something.” Not that he himself couldn’t do most things on his own, but it was a Japanese dish he wanted to make, and he wanted to do so correctly. That would require someone who knew how to make it.

“I can still use one if it’s given to me– but it just takes more strength for me to stab someone with my staff compared to Gae Bolg.” He’s done it before, though, and treating his staff like a heavy lance that is coincidentally set on fire is a very common strategy in a fight for him– old habits die hard. “If you’re ever curious, I’d be more than happy to fight you. With whichever weapon in my hands you want to face.” 

If it’s brought up, he’s not going to shy away from the chance to get in a fight.

“It’s a good trait for a Servant to have. Besides, you got etched into the Throne anyways, didn’t you? So you’re all equal to me, ‘cept your King of course.” The knights are knights are knights– and honestly, the amount Cú cares about any of them is rather little. They seem fairly noisy for the most part, but he’s finding that he doesn’t mind Bedivere. This one seems quite tolerable. 

“It would be an honour to spar with you, Sir.” To cross blades with someone like Cú Chulainn, that would be quite an experience.  Er.. well, even if there was no blade on the Irishman’s part, he had no doubt it would be extraordinary. Though, at the moment, he’s enjoying the conversation.

“ If I told you the king of knights had a flat ass … ”

“ You can’t just call people out like that, bedivere. ”

Cú snickers. Bedivere is welcome to appreciate all he likes. Cú’s rather used to it. “This version of me is prettier, but without a spear. I’m a druid this go-around, but the Lancer variant will be pleased to hear it.” He is rather known for his pretty face, one of the things that enables him to get in quite a bit of trouble. Let’s not get into that. 

“Let’s say it’s pride as a man.” Easier than saying the Irish are horny. “At least ya know that much. He’s my underling here, can’t have anyone going around underestimating him as a fighter.”

“I did my job as a hero and then some, so I’m not real worried about that kind of thing. Thanks, though!” Of course he’s a grand knight. Even as a druid, he’s always the first among the knights of Ulster. (Whatever that may mean nowadays.)  “You’re a good knight too, al chivalrous and dedicated.” Or whatever it is– Bedivere’s the storybook type.

“Your lack of spear means nothing. I doubt you being a Caster would make you lose knowledge of how to use your spear. If anything, surely you could put down any man to challenge you in a duel with one..” Ah, perhaps one day he’d go up the line and challenge all the Cú Chulainns, to see how he’d fair against such a legend. Poorly, he’d imagine. He could barely keep up with his own fellows. Surely his own hubris would punish him.

“You suggest I build a life in a singularity? That will ultimately disappear and take away all that I have built? Leaving me without these loved ones and only memories to cling to?“ She just tilts her head at him in confusion.

“Assuming the Master has the fortitude to eventually correct all of the Singularities. Even so, one such as yourself belongs nowhere and everywhere at once, no? You belong just as much there as anywhere else. Because of this, who is to say when the Singularity disappears, so will your memory of it? Or should the Master fail, that you will not be destroyed with it?” Bedivere simply shrugs.

“…??? I can’t tell if you’re trying to encourage me to just go out try to gather a bunch of kids to become a mother or are just messing around with me. Building a family is something I know of and is a fine suggestion but I can’t just wrap people up into my desires with little thought. If one of the younger servants suddenly wished me to act as their mother I could?”

“Why must you bring them here? Why can you not go live in a Singularity? Surely you can find yourself someone that will love you and try for children when you’re ready?” Besides, living in Chaldea wasn’t all that great. A cramped building with a bunch of warriors, little contact with free roaming areas.

“You make it sound so simple… I’m not human and I’m honestly not sure of what I am capable of. Perhaps what you suggest is an option but how exactly would I even get one when things are like this?“

“I… I don’t even know if something such as me can have children…“

“Well the the whole process of becoming a mother… the way you stated it was like people should be trying to make me one. Though I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way.“
