Rough pencils for page 2. I used a similar no-panels falling composition for my work on Eden Expedition. There's really no dialog in this page so I felt there did not need to be a rigid sequence of panels. There just needed to be a top left bridge from the action on the previous page and a bottom right indication of a more distant falling figure. Everything else hopefully obvious.

Rough pencils for page 1. I broke the contents of the opening scene across all the panels in the page. Getting a shot of the horizon, and a robot pilot, and a fight, and being able to introduce all the major characters in the first panel to be compositionally difficult. I wanted to emphasize the action and character designs first. I relied on Dr. Megalo's "M" insignia to weld all the elements of the page together and lead the user through the sequence.

Rough pencils for page 3. I continue my no panels motif. The hand sequence is an unscripted add-on as an economical (i.e. lazy) and different take on the link up between the two characters. Before going to a tighter penciling stage I'd probably rearrange and resize various elements. Mainly to give emphasis to the half-body shot of Owl and Pussycat. It's the only panel in the story that visually indicates a relationship between the two characters beyond crime fighting partners.
