so not only does hyo not have a choker, but she also doesn't have a mask. both of these locations are places where she should absolutely be wearing one (a polluted zone just after a trash storm & a city where a massive trash beast was just taken down - notably, zanka and his team were all wearing masks at the time).

at the beginning of the series, we're told that pollution poisoning is one of, if not the most common causes of death on the ground. spending 15 minutes without one in a no man's land will kill you, so while i'm not sure how to scale that for regular polluted zones, i imagine casually wandering around without a mask should already be causing some health problems.

air pollution can obviously damage your brain, so i'm wondering if her "need something to stimulate the hippocampus" line is indicative of a health problem. the hippocampus' main function mostly has to do with memory, right? and spatial awareness/navigation i think?**

there are some theories out there that she's just bored and needs stimulation to stay motivated and that's why she jumps from one job to the next, but i'm wondering if we've got it all wrong. what if she's sick? if that's the case, then taking up august's offer to work as a live-in model would be especially appealing, no?

and think about it - why would we get gob's death so early on in the series, a mini arc that hammers in the importance of wearing a mask, only for it to not come back around? and now we see a character wandering from place to place without a mask and without a choker for weeks (i believe 1-2 weeks pass in between these panels).

idk, obviously i don't want hyo to be sick, but also it's a little suspicious.

** okay, also, not to keep bringing up the theory that hyo might be the second angel, but if she is, then it would make sense for her to have memory loss since tamsy could have used the watchman notebook to wipe/alter them!! i'd rather this over her being sick tbh!!
