I'm on Team Mystery this year and I am SO glad we finally got another red theme oh my god. I'm holding off on posting my silly AF card and shouting it to the clouds this year until a bit closer to the start of the month. My promo page I've done in the past won't be appearing this year since I've folded it directly into my AF profile!

I had intended to reveal my Leland Townsend (Evil 2019) Hellaverse AU in a separate post, but it wouldn't make sense to post that and then this, so here we are lol. He'll be on ArtFight this year, and I'll make the true reveal post when that's ready.

This spawned from a thought experiment about what would happen to Leland in the Hellaverse's afterlife - do NOT read on if you haven't finished the show or I'll eat you alive. I think he'd spawn in heaven thanks to his prior loyalties but would get immediately kicked out and fall to hell where he belongs. He retains some angelic features and gains more when entering full demon form. His prized possession is his broken halo which he swiped on his way down; it provides him with a degree of angelic power. Mostly he's just a mischief maker. He has aura until you notice he has a heart snout.

I wrote up some sort of informal pitch bible for the world of ARTIFICE and inadvertently accomplished a ton of worldbuilding for it, so look forward to me finally cleaning up some outdated info for that. I'm trying to hold myself back from uploading a billion characters right before ArtFight however, so most of this will be kept behind the curtain for now.

I'll be completely honest, I didn't have anything prepared for this post so I delved into my crap to do folder and pulled something out.

Rectrix Pronghorn of the Red Army didn't have a proper icon until now, just a crop of the first headshot I ever made of him. That rendered him the only character on my ArtFight profile that lacked a proper icon (and is of a reasonable degree of finalised). Turns out I couldn't come up with a better icon for him so I just retrofitted that original headshot that has become just so quintessentially Pronghorn. This is more of the icon than one will ever see, and it came out kinda weird looking in a way I struggle to describe, but it does its job just fine.

XJ-0461 'Devo' has been in need of an actual refined fullbody for eons. Now he has one! I'm hoping I can construct a full ref sheet before July, but if all else fails at least there's this now lol

Devo is an android intelligence made to replace an existing lifeform with perfect accuracy, and subsequently serve as a spy for the unit's creators. A malfunction made him aware of this, so he sought out a way to sever himself from his superiors. This character actually turned five years old recently!

This is one half of two posts featuring some new-old characters I finally put up last week: Red Leader's first two recruits.

This is Agitatrix Platinum of the Red Army (page also very much a WIP). His design is a repurposed older design, chosen for the red, but it also pulls from Giratina a tad (get it? ya get it?). He's a metallurgist and not as much of a fighter like his partner in crime. They sound like your typical brains and brawn trope, but I assure you they subvert it in some pretty funny ways I hope to elaborate on.

This is one half of two posts featuring some new-old characters I finally put up this week: Red Leader's first two recruits.

This is Agitatrix Pollution of the Red Army (page very much a WIP). This guy's design was real difficult to nail down, particularly in terms of palette. I wanted something rather gross (to befit the name) that used blue in a more unconventional way, without making him too gross. Did I succeed? I can't even tell, I redid it twice already while drawing this lol. Yes his eye patch is meant to be reminiscent of Red Leader's - Pollution's actually came first chronologically and prompted RL to do what he did with his :]

Among the various developments, most notably, my own ArtFight HTML/CSS is nearly complete. I might overhaul it sometime soonish since I don't 100% like it and how divergent it is from my other pages (this used to be a restriction of AF, but not anymore), but for now at least the info is correct. It also renders that promo webpage thing I've done in the past totally obsolete! so that won't be reappearing again.

The ArtFight HTML update has been keeping me real busy! I've been trying to not let it consume my life - I would be wise to keep my scope focused on CSS only - but I can't help it that I love to teach sometimes. Maybe next week I'll work on something other than that lmao

It has occurred to me numerous times that I don't have proper ref imagery for Red Leader's left side, so I finally took the time to make just that. This is Red Leader's cybernetics design stripped of style. Now you don't have to guess anymore! (sorry it took this long)

When I started this i wanted it to be an interactive 3D model because I felt like that was more effective to see it at any angle you need as opposed to an orthographic view, but I fell victim to scope creep. Maybe that'll manifest some other time since it is already mostly done, but it needs more time in the oven..

Most of my characters are all set and done, but my profile needs work and I plan to add new corresponding HTML templates to add to each of my CSS templates, but I expect that to take quite some time.

More Finchwhistleposting! I noticed my dog turns gray during the wintertime and wanted to carry that over into my character that has so far been portrayed with inconsistent gray. This is his summer and winter designs.

Additionally, when cats go gray, any scars they have become visible in the fur since they go gray first; I wanted to use this too. Essentially this gives Finchwhistle two designs based on seasons and I just think it's neat

My friends told me not to post this but I didn't listen. I love the game this is based on and it sucks that it's currently entrenched in drama.

This is a traditional pen + marker drawing except for the half where my markers all died at once which subsequently ruined the paper, leading me to finish it digitally. It came out fine, it's got an assortment of flaws that I could correct in post, but I wanted to keep the traditional vibe and not correct it too hard. Quite the learning experience: I still hate traditional lmao

I joined a team to collaborate on a super short experimental film (which will never be publicised) with a game jam style of production model, so I coughed up a basic Yamero rig for it in three hours.

It's not a very good recreation of the design - it's missing details like the wing ribs and tail feathers - but the important thing is it converted straight into Unreal Engine with no problems or tweaking required whatsoever so I consider it a win. I also tend to suck majorly at rigging so it's quite monumental that I cooked here too lol

Introducing Finchwhistle, my MirageClan insert. Guess my many year streak of not having a Warriors OC is over. My friends who comprise MirageClan more or less forced this upon me but it's okay because I love this character.

I've been struggling to draw cats a lot recently so I haven't been doing Finchwhistle justice, but as soon as I get my mojo back I'll be dumping art and doodles of him. He's the clan strategist, very observant, quite paranoid, and somewhat weird in a boomerish way. You'll see :]

He's basically become the de facto face of the MAP what with the literal seeing red imagery so of course he's going to be the thumbnail on everything. This image is a lot busier than the MAP call's but I think it still works, it's just chaotic enough to be cool yet still readable. Check out the full version on the video linked above!

I noticed on my laptop a lot of my ToyHouse pages were spawning an x-scrollbar despite this not happening on my tower, so I implemented a hotfix that certainly eliminates those but might cause the top of character pages to be spaced a bit weird. I'll pick at it over time.

Aka the guest star on a single episode of a show so niche it got cancelled before its first season finished airing and absolutely no streaming services either upright nor o'er the high seas have on offer. You wanna see this guy? Watch the 480p YouTube uploads of The Inside episode 3 / episode 4 "Pre-Filer", it's just one episode but they got aired out of order so no one numbers them right. The multi part uploads have the best quality. Or just ask and I'll send you the video file I constructed out of them

I literally just noodled out a couple techniques I've wanted to do for a while, don't look at it too long lmao it's not that good. I specifically tried to encapsulate the grungy disgusting super contrasty blue/green style and colour grading The Inside and many other 2000s shows have cause while it's disgusting and awful it's also super nostalgic lmao
