Steve: *shoots awake*

Eddie: Babe…?

Steve: One of my kids is doing something stupid.

Shrugging them off, he says, "Yeah, yeah, best sex I've ever had guys, now focus on something else, please."

Cut to Eddie on stage at a gig, in a loose homemade sleeveless vest, his arms, chest and neck similarly littered with marks. It adds to his appeal, the girls swoon thinking of all the rockstar action he must be getting.

Eddie hisses when the antiseptic hits the gash on his forearm. “Jesus— ow, ow, nurse Harrington, careful—”

“Quit squirming or I’ll make it worse,” Steve mutters but he’s already easing up and blowing on the cut like that’ll actually help. Somehow for Eddie it does. Eddie watches him work. Steve’s brow is furrowed, lip caught between his teeth in concentration. There’s a bruise blooming on Steve’s own jaw that he’s completely ignoring.

Steve shifts to check Eddie’s ribs and fingers ghosting over a nasty purple splotch. He lingers and Eddie’s mouth runs before his brain can stop it “You gonna kiss it better, big boy?”

It’s meant as a joke. Deflection. His usual armor. But Steve doesn’t laugh. He doesn’t roll his eyes. He just looks up through his lashes, and his voice goes quiet.

“Would that help?”

Eddie’s brain short circuits right there All the smartass replies die in his throat.

“Steve—”

Steve’s thumb brushes the unbruised skin just beside the bruise, careful as ever . “‘Cause I would. If you asked me too.”

But what nobody knows is Steve started it. And Steve keeps starting it. Because the first time Eddie got really mad like red faced, voice cracking, gesturing with those rings and hair all wild from running his hands through it Steve’s brain just short circuited. God, he’s so hot when he’s pissed. He would think to him self.

So now Steve has a system. He says something dumb about his music choice and Eddie explodes. Steve wins. Not the argument. But just to see him.

Eddie doesn’t get it at first. He just thinks Steve’s an asshole who peaked in high school and never learned to shut up. Until one night Steve’s baiting him about “real music” and Eddie shoves him hard against the brick wall outside the Hideout, and Steve smiles.

Oh.

“You absolute freak,” Eddie says realization dawning and devastating. “You like this. You like when I—”

since we read this wonderful book and found out that there was no fandom and no content at all for it,  I aka @neilminyards , @stnickyhemmick and @henriettafoxes decided to start the fandom. as the mothers of this fandom, we think that everyone should read this. it needs more recognition and we need more content!!!!!
