I do think Rachel Reid has a favorite and it’s not Shane. The fact that she has created a half Asian gay man who plays professional hockey and can’t seem to sympathize with him at all is crazy. And I know it’s cuz she’s white and can’t fathom how being anything but white in sports really affects a person. She makes it seem like Ilya is the only one in the relationship suffering but Shane is a biracial mostly Asian presenting gay man in the sport most know for being all white. Yes Ilya has depression and as someone who has depression I sympathies but Shane has a completely different experience of the world due to race. Shane cant be anything but perfect because if he isn’t hockey will gladly throw him away. Shane is the way he is because of hockey culture, he acts out of fear due to the way hockey treats him. And for Rachel Reid to have no sympathy for a character she created who she put in these situations is mind boggling. To make Shane out to be selfish and uncaring of Ilya drives me crazy. And I know Rachel being white is definitely not helping because she can’t seem to put her self in Shane’s shoes at all.

Re-watching Supergirl(2016) and I forgot the absolute emotional whiplash Kara and Lena‘s friendship was putting me through . Like dammm just kiss and all your problems will be solved. Kara and Lena are so in love with each other it’s crazy. Lois and Clark’s relationship in this universe kinda falls flat compared to Lena and Kara’s “friendship”
