Fashion Flashback: To honour and celebrate the master Couturier Charles James, Vogue US ran an editorial so aptly named ‘The One And Only’ which featured a myriad of models all dressed in intricate paper recreations of the billowing gowns which the late designer made famous - they were courtesy of set designer Rhea Thierstein who mused on how photographer of the shoot Tim Walker asked her to interpret the designs in a delicate and surprising way; as time went on the creative process evolved and eventually the posh paper pieces became so grand that they had to be hung from the ceiling. The opulant group shot was inspired by Cecil Beatons iconic portrait of leisurely ladies in their classic Charles James ballgowns which was featured in the Vogue June 1948 issue, and now 66 years later it has been modernised and re-imagined for the May 2014 issue, showing that true beauty, elegance and dedication can live on forever. via: 1,2.
