Well if anything was going to get her in trouble, it was going  to be the fact she⌠just accidentally called Salem, âDarlingâ.  She didnât know why she did it either, perhaps she spaced out?  She was genuinely afraid she was going to get in trouble for this.   â UhâŚÂ â
   â I do apologize for that- â
âFlusteredâ was not a word that normally described Salem. But then again, neither is âdarlingâ, and look at me now, Salem thought to herself. She wheeled on Neo, barely thinking fast enough to keep up with her mouth.
âNow, I donât know what kind of relationship you had with your former partner, but I can assure you, I am not your darling, or your sweetie, or your baby, or your... uhh... Look, Iâm most certainly not, ok?â

[Sorry, been a bit out of it for a day or so â^^ Back now]
[The Grimm Queen has retired to her bedchambers for the evening]
Hesitation. A grin. A predator plotting her move. The barest hint of caution, just enough to make sure that she would survive the encounter.
The kill strike.
Salem could almost taste Neoâs train of thought as she observed the assassin wordlessly. Clearly the other had been taking fencing lessons for quite a while, judging by the precision of the lunge.
Riposte, riposte! Reverse and rend her asunder!
Salem took no note of the bloodlust that murmured at the back of her mind; she knew damn well that she could kill the assassin within the space of a humanâs breath, but there wasnât any need to. The needlepoint raced towards her heart as Salemâs skin rapidly darkened to black and her eyes shone ruby-red, the sounds of gales whipping around the deserted street even while the air curiously remained deathly still. As quickly as it began its bloody race, the parasol stopped, its tip barely resting against Salemâs covered breast, still pointed at her heart. As her skin returned to its milky pallor, a single drop of a faintly lavender-coloured liquid ran down the parasolâs blade; Salemâs tainted blood. Her eyes widened a mere fraction of an inch; a sign of utmost fear, quickly dispelled.
This young woman was truly incredibly strong.
Fortunately, Salem was still stronger. Her limitless Aura is a passive defense; she hadnât even used her Semblance, or her weapon. Not that she ever needed to use her weapon.
Salem brushed the parasol aside, and looked back at Neo. Giving no sign that she had been pricked or scared, she spoke.
âI concede to your prowess with a blade. Youâve passed this⌠examination.â Salemâs mind was furiously mulling over possibilities; this girl couldnât be wasted as a mere scout. She needed to be used with pinpoint accuracy against the deadliest targets.
And should she fail? One less threat.
It went almost as exactly how she expected-  except for the  fact that    it actually had damaged the other. It wasnât long before she would back off    simply because she was a bit shocked she was even able to do that.    but it wouldnât happen again. she knew it, not that she wanted the chance.
â Iâm glad that you think that my skill is worthy of your time. â   Fortunately Neo wasnât one to fail. Even the one time that she was   bested by Ruby, she wasnât truly defeated. She was still alive right?   The time with Yang? She would have won if it werenât for Raven.      In comparison to Salem, Raven was nothing in Neoâs mind, though.   Certainly, it gave her courage to fight Yang again without worries of   Raven showing up again if she was required to.    â Iâm meant to kill after all, and I make sure to stick to my orders. â
Considering her options silently, Salem took out a Scroll from within the folds of her clothes. With an almost amused expression on her face, she tapped out some coordinates into a text-based file and waved the device in Neoâs direction. A few seconds later, a muffled sound indicated that Neoâs own Scroll had accepted the file transfer.
âShould you still wish to join me, then meet me at these coordinates at midday tomorrow. It would be best for you to be disguised, although if reports are true you surpass even I at that.â Salem almost chuckled. Almost.
The coordinates led to a rather upper-class restaurant, but that was merely a front. Below the restaurantwas an auxiliary base that Salem and the less Grimm members of her legion used to execute operations in Vale. Even so, the restaurant itself was very good at simply being a restaurant. Even Salem enjoyed some of its dishes when she felt the urge to indulge herself. In disguise, of course.
âWe will discuss your first assignment after a meal. Until then,â she turned and walked away. Of course, the first assignment would come during the meal; several combat-trained individuals would be posted throughout the restaurant, and would engage Neo in a brawl as soon as Salem gave the signal.
Iâll see exactly what youâre capable of, Salem thought to herself. For the first time in a while, she genuinely smiled.
âKilled, was he? Wonderful, that means I donât have to do it.â
Salem pressed her hands together and closed her eyes, thinking. The small woman in front of her, by all accounts, was a deadly assassin, and a brutal killer. However, some accounts speak of her only weakness; her fear. Fear was both a powerful motivator and a powerful deterrent, and its effects are balanced on a knifeâs edge. A practical examination was in order. Salem opened her eyes again, staring directly into the otherâs.
âPeople speak in fear and even reverence of your lethality, young Neopolitan. As a measure of your skills, you may attempt to perform a lethal strike against any target you see around us. I need to see your skills for myself.â Even though she had made decisively sure that she and Neo were the only two around, Salem was not concerned about her own mortality; her Aura was powerful enough to stop a lethal strike mere millimeters from her pallid skin. Even if the assassin quaked before her and sought another target, it would be a useful gauge of her skills either way.
â âŚÂ â   Alas, this one was⌠different ⌠than the Salem that she had met   prior. The other did not seem to have any negativity towards Roman,   however she wouldnât really say much about it. While she was slightly   bothered by the otherâs disgust for her former partner she was most   certainly not going to let it get in the way of her own safety. Not too long   passed untill Neo seemed to just brush off any of the bother she had.   Roman wasnât around anymore, so⌠as cold as it sounded, he meant   nothing to her anymore. Nobody was useful when theyâre dead, after all.   She did find herself wondering if Roman did something to anger Salem   however.   Nonetheless it was the next thing she was ordered to do that made her   smile a bit once again. Of course- killing was what Neo was made for.   She wouldnât have a problem killing on command. First, she would look   around for a different target, of course she was too cautious to attack   Salem herself for a moment⌠  ⌠but then she considered the chances that the other might actually want   Neo to attack her, after all considering the amount of power that Salem had   it was entirely possible to stop even Neoâs own strongest attack. Keeping that   in mind, she closed her umbrella, the sharp needle protruding from he tip.
She has been silent since the moment she began to plot out the entire situation   in her head. Worst came to worst, the other would attack back and thus sheâd have   a lot more on her hands than she intended prior to figuring out how this was meant   to work. Either way, it didnât matter now, for it was time for action and not words.   After allâŚÂ              ⌠Neo was meant for killing.
Without further ado, the smaller of the two seemed to move with incredible speed-   lifting the needle-tipped parasol quickly and lunging it with all of her power at the other.   Naturally, if it were a human enemy she would aim the attack either at a major vein to   let them bleed out or the heart- but now specifically she was aiming for the heart.   Knowing very little about Salem other than the amount of power that she had, Neo was   not sure if a blow to the heart would be lethal in any scenario here. Most likeily it would   not be, but either way, she had to demonstrate one of her most powerful attacks, right?   This was literally akin to a finishing blow attack from Neo,           and honestly, it would be enough to kill a human almost instantly           if they didnât see it coming at all. Salem wasnât a human, though.
Hesitation.

And should she fail? One less threat.
âOn whether you wanted blue or white balloons for your birthday party,â Salem remarked dryly, her patience scarcer than colour in her skin. Sheâd expected a response to her ultimatum by now, and she had taken matters into her own hands when the response hadnât come; nor had the one who would be bearing the response.
âYou have been observed for a while now, and recently were given the choice by a messenger of mine; you can either join my cause and be granted a new purpose in life, or continue to look for that torrid, redheaded bag of lies by yourself.â
Salem paused, considering the possibilities. âUnless you never got my messenger, or you did and you struck them down without hearing what they had to say? How disgustingly human of me to blindly assume that all went to planâŚâ
â Iâm sorry that I misunderstood.    If youâre referring to Roman, he was killed by a Grimm.    I was flying a way with my umbrella, but i did manage to    see it happen. I have no reason to look for a dead person. â   With that, Neo frowned a bit.   â I never did get a message from anyone, so therefore i think     itâs safe for me to assume i never met your messenger. Nonetheless     due to the fact i have⌠nothing else to do, considering my partner     has probably been dead for awhile now, i will assist you as needed. â   She most certainly wasnât going to side with Ruby or any of   those kids, thatâs for sure. She also didnât want to get on Salemâs   badside. Neo would he as scared as she was of Raven if not more   if Salem was attempting to kill her.
âKilled, was he? Wonderful, that means I donât have to do it.â
Salem pressed her hands together and closed her eyes, thinking. The small woman in front of her, by all accounts, was a deadly assassin, and a brutal killer.
