"May I have this dance?" (hello there stranger)
"Always."
Clint grinned tugging Phil to his feet and into a lazy two-step, if you could even call it that.
Phil's hands settled to Clint's waist, smiling and moving with Clint, leaning their foreheads together for a moment.
The marksman just smiled and relaxed in Phil's familiar hold. Neither of them really leading the other, just enjoying being close to one another.
"This 's nice," Clint hummed mostly to himself.
"It is. Sorry I was gone, for so long. I missed you." He's quiet, and a little ashamed. Between his deaths and possibly universe hopping he's not even sure how long he was gone.
Clint just holds Phil tighter and presses his face into the crook of his old handler's neck. He never likes it when they're apart, even more now given everything that's happened between and around them. But despite it all they always seem to find their way back to one another.
"Missed you too."
"I'm back. And I'm glad to be back. I'm not quite who I was. But I can't be, and hey. I'm here." He pressed a kiss under one of Clint's ears softly.
The marksman sighed and relaxed into Phil's hold even more, their lazy two-step having turned into just swaying in one anothers arms.
"We should go somewhere," Clint said after a small pause. "Get away for awhile."
"I'm up for that. I don't have anywhere I need to be right now anyway. And I've been mobile for a long time. I'd like to linger somewhere, with you."
Clint hummed at Phil's reply and there's another short pause between them as the archer mulled over a few options.
"There anywhere you'd like to go? We haven't been to London in a while, or we could go somewhere warmer."
"It has been a long time since we went to London and the last time was under sucky circumstance." Phil reflected. "That said, warmer sounds nice. Maybe Spain? I think we're a bit old for something like Ibiza sadly."
The archer can't help but laugh when Phil rules out Ibiza., not that he was surprised or disappointed.
"Spain sounds nice," Clint hummed in reply. "Couldn't tell you when I went last, not for work anyways." It would be nice to go back, to see the country he spent so much time in and out of before SHIELD finally pinned him down.
"Well, SHIELD can't say shit about my travel plans now and I have some money I can spend. How about we make a tour of it. Go around the Mediterranean or something? Or some of Europe."
Clint tried not to let his thoughts linger on the fact that, on paper, Phil is technically dead.
"Mediterranean sounds nice. It's been a long time since we've been able to enjoy a real beach."
"Sounds like a plan then. Want to go to Ibiza and just be too old and grouchy for being there?" Phil's smiling because... honestly this is just nice. He's with Clint, they're going to go on vacation, everything is beautiful.
Phil's smile contagious, eliciting a small laugh and a smile from the archer.
"I'm pretty sure we'll be able to find a quite place for us old people to hide away in. Unless you want to go out and party 'til 5am like we're college kids," Clint teases with a smirk.
"I mean. I'm always up for partying with you no matter how late we manage to stay up." He has to laugh. "And you're right, I'm sure we can find somewhere there that fits our tastes."
"I think our definition of 'partying' is a little different from the usual Ibiza crowd," Clint laughs as he recalls many late nights playing Mario Kart and occasionally Call of Duty.
"You think you'd wanna stay at a resort or somewhere with less people?"
"I mean as paranoid as we are both have their benefits. I lean towards less people but a resort with enough on offer might tempt me." Phil is thoughtful.
"Anything in particular?" Clint asks as he rubs Phil's back absentmindedly. "Pool? Bar? Pool with a swim up bar? Ballroom dancing? That thing where you eat sushi off a naked person?"
He was only partially joking.
He laughed. "Good food definitely, especially walking distance to options! Dancing is always a plus. Beach access would be nice, I'd like to get some surfing in. What about you, anything you're looking for?"
Clint made a mental note of everything Phil rattled off, though none of the requests were a surprise given their extensive history. Despite this, he did hesitate at the question for a few seconds before mumbling a shy confession.
"Just to spend time with you."
