yall ever making new music?
The short answer is "no," the long answer is "no, not in this capacity and even then the stars would have to align in unimaginable ways for it to work at all." Unfortunately.
well, we're only here for a little longer. get the hot secrets now. i'll tell you anything. best cereals. wildest scandals. donuts. your fortune. ask away.
hey guys- wanted to ask about the lyrics for An Absent Crown, My Diadem. Overall, the main (obvious) themes that come through to me are the falling apart of romance/love, broken promises, adapting to changing emotions. I wanted to hear from you guys what the "you are just a body, that I will use to waste my time" section means to you- is it recognizing that that was all someone was to you? trying to desensitize yourself to the point where that's all they are? or something entirely different? thx
I can't give a totally direct answer as I wasn't the one to write that line, but I think I have a few ideas where it came from and the way I'd interpret it within the context of the song itself.I think part of it comes from a place of desensitizing oneself from a former love - someone you felt you had everything with and then lost, so in a way you had to dilute your feelings through trying to find feelings for others, be it emotionally or purely physical. On the opposite hand, I think it's written in a way directed resentfully at the person writing it, the "you" actually being the "I" that's speaking and feeling used and tossed aside.Either way, it's definitely expressed from a place of regret than it is glorification of those feelings or actions. A lot of Being Without comes from a place of personal dissatisfaction and disgust and trying to be open about things we've done that we're not proud of.Hope that helps!
I don't know if you still check this but I'm sorry to hear about the breakup. I've kind of been listening to other types of music lately but I definitely won't be able to forget this band. Thanks for everything when I needed it. I'm not sad anymore and really excited to be pursuing a major in music education once I graduate.
You are awesome - hope music works out great for you!! 🖤🖤🖤

Your music has helped me many times, in dark periods. Thank you. (Please come back btw)
We hope you've been well and those dark times are past you 🖤🖤🖤
It's been quite some time since we last did this. Our lives have changed drastically, but everytime we find ourselves in the same place, playing music together is what we talk about. We're excited to say that we've been given the opportunity to play together one last time alongside some of our closest friends in Oddczar (also reuniting) and Planet Creep. Thank you all for everything and we hope to see you there. Help us remember these songs!
What tuning do you guys play in? I've been trying to decipher the intro riff of "Wither". However, from watching videos of you, it looks like I play it wrong. Huge fan. Come to Philadelphia when you get the chance.
Hey! "Being Without" was recorded in Drop C#, "Though I'm Alone" was recorded in Drop A. We love Philadelphia and would love to play there again! Maybe one day, if we can ever make it out of this city again.
I love that video from the show in dec at the blind tiger, and it looks like you guys had fun, I know previously you said you were unsure of the future of the band, with the recent changes do you think a new record or ep may be in the works for this year?
Thank you! That show felt good, to put it bluntly. Furthering the bluntness, I feel like I can only answer this with a resounding "I don't know." Between other projects and seemingly endless creative exhaustion, it's really hard to say. I wake up some days and say to myself "Today is the day, time to finally put something together," but I really haven't personally written any "Barrow" material in over a year. My life is at a bit of a turning point right now; I'm getting married this year and a bit uncertain as to where I may be living at this point next year (or much sooner) and as much as I wish we could be the type of band that functions in multiple locations, we can hardly do so within the same state, so there's no telling. Hopefully one day we'll be decisive individuals. Until then, it's shrugs all around. Thank you again!!
please keep making music. please keep doing great dual screamy vox and really textured instrumentals. please. and please tour somewhere outside of greensboro. I will start a gofundme campaign if need be, just for the love of gahd, find your way out to the tri-state area.
Hi. Thank you for the encouraging words. I recently met with the friend who recorded our records and it made me realize where I am in life regarding music. I want to continue making music, regardless of the name or medium; it may be Barrow, it may not. I've always asserted that the music we make will be on our own terms -- people ask us consistently, "So, did you guys break up?" I wish it was that simple, but all I can offer is this: I want to create more music under this moniker. I cannot guarantee you what it will sound like, when it will occur, or how far it will reach, but I want it to happen. I thank you sincerely for the interest and support. It means more than I can explain.
Regarding out-of-town shows, our lineup changed drastically a little over a year ago and forced us all to reevaluate our approach to this band in relation to our personal lives. We made the difficult decision to stop touring at this point and spent a lot of time writing music with our lineup at the time. Maybe 7 or 8 songs. We played most live at least once in the local area and scrapped them one by one; it just wasn't the same. Both fortunately and unfortunately, we all now have jobs and home responsibilities that prevent us from touring considerably, the most we could ever do maybe being a weekend here or there, which is limited as can be, but unfortunately that's all I can see feasible for now.
Sorry for the novel -- I got this message at a time of "deep thought" about the future of this band, but again I sincerely appreciate the interest and support. I hope you'll hear from us again soon.

Out of curiousity, how does one go about watching the music video you guys made for "Fox Ears and Silence"? :) Love you guys btw
Funny you should mention that. I just looked it up and it's either gone or private. The internet is a weird place. If it turns up, we'll repost it for sure! Sorry about that. We love you, too!
Weathered (after Barrow)
This is a poem I wrote for my creative writing course based off of lyrics from two songs by Barrow (Clawhold and Dogwood). Most of the directly quoted lines are in italics. Hooray for inspirational art.
My poem is about the fear of the future.

Very humbling to see our work incorporated to the work of another. Check this out. Thank you!
Happy Labor Day? I'm pretty sure we have that over here probably just looks weird without a "u" haha. How is music making? Also is it good to have the old drummer back and (in a hopefully totally non-aggressive/intrusive way) what happened there?
Haha, fair enough. It's preparing itself slowly. It's a good thing, definitely. No fault on our other drummer -- he's incredibly talented and a great friend, but I've been playing music with this drummer for close to ten years, so we just mesh. He lost his job after our last tour (over a year ago) and got a new job that wouldn't exactly permit any sort of touring. We were hoping to continue that path, but as we've had to devote more time to our personal lives and lay low on the touring thing, it just worked out for him to come back now.
FMA or Brotherhood? (Also new song is awesome)
Thanks so much! Our bassist, Kyle, penned the words and the initial shell of the song, so he could better answer this question. I know he's watched both (I've only watched one; planning to fix that soon!), so I think it's more generalized.
Make like a senpai and notice our new song

Did you guys seriously write a song about FMA (/Brotherhood)? 'Cause it's awesome. And I'm excited to share it with friends who are fans of the anime(s).
Absolutely! Haha. I'm a huge fan, but our bassist (Kyle) actually penned the words to this one and wrote the basis of the song as it stands now. He's crazy about FMA and I'm afraid I haven't seen Brotherhood all the way through yet (because I have a terrible habit of getting caught up in a hundred other shows/hobbies). Thank you for listening and spreading the word!
Better late than never! We're streaming our split with best friends Oddczar. Check it out and tell your friends!
