BARRIE J DAVIES IS AN ARTIST - www.barriejdavies.info
Barrie J Davies is a Brighton-based contemporary artist who holds an MA in Fine Art, mostly used nowadays as evidence that chaos can, in fact, be officially accredited.
He works somewhere between street art, pop art, graffiti, collage, cartoons, and “whatever that thing was he did at 2am with a paintbrush and mild confidence issues.” His creative process is best described as: start with an idea, invite five more ideas that don’t get along, and let them argue it out on canvas while music plays too loudly.
Barrie’s work has been known to confuse walls, charm strangers, and occasionally make sensible people ask, “Is that allowed to be that funny?” The answer is usually yes. Or no. Either way it’s already dry.
He specialises in turning everyday life into something slightly unhinged but visually pleasing—like reality got distracted mid-sentence and left the door open for cartoons, satire, and mild existential mischief to wander in.
When not making art, Barrie can be found negotiating with paint, avoiding perfectly good blank spaces, and insisting that “it’s definitely finished” while adding just one more thing that absolutely isn’t necessary.
