A little corner

I love the Bolivian charango. It’s a small guitar that sounds sad and nostalgic and like nothing else. I even bought myself one in Bolivia a few years ago. Anyways, was just listening to this artist when it hit me that I MET HIM. In La Paz there is a Museo de Instrumentos Musicales with a bunch of Bolivian and international instruments on display. Some are so cool and weird. I was there with my friend Petra and, around closing time, a man from the museum started talking to us. It turns out he was this artist, Ernesto Cavour - he created the museum in 1962 AND invented a bunch of instruments that were on display AND he is the worldwide master of charango. He invited us to listen to a band practicing in the museum after hours and we spent an hour hanging out with them and listening to amazing music. Random coincidence, such a nice memory.

This is the final post for this month's lettering challenge ×Day 60/366× Lettering was challenging, more so than illustration was last month. I gained a hell of a lot more appreciation for hand lettering artists who do it well, and there are many out there. It may seem as easy as scribbling something down and scanning it, but good lettering is a craft. It requires alignment, consistency, originality, exploration and so much practice. While I feel like I have a long way to go, I did come across a lot of great resources to learn lettering. Artists @seanwes and @sarah.dayan have great websites, blog posts and tutorials on the subject, and Skillshare has quite a few great lessons. If you're in Toronto, @ligaturesyyz is an awesome group of letterers who run events and workshops. Part of this 366 day project is learning that sometimes you truly don't have time for something and that it's ok.
