Chapter Summary: Astarion and Orlando welcome two more members to the Ancunin-Moonwater household.
An anthology of short, post-game stories featuring Astarion and my Tav, Orlando.
Chapter Tags: Domestic fluff, Cute puppies and kitties!
Read here in this post or over on my AO3.
With Astarion and Orlando’s newfound domestication, they have begun to take on new residents. It starts when Orlando comes home one evening with a squirming bundle in her arms. She had spotted a dejected looking puppy scrounging for scraps outside the Elfsong Tavern on her way home from the market. Orlando managed to coax it into her arms, wrap it up in her shawl, and shuttle it home with her. When she sets the poor creature down before the hearth, Astarion can see how painfully thin the dog is; rib bones peeking out beneath skin that is stretched taught, her dark fur matted.
After a good bath and some protein-rich food, Nova, their new Shepherd, falls fast asleep at the foot of the bed. Orlando begs and pleads to keep her.
“Are we really equipped to care for a dog?” Astarion questions, eyeing the dog’s ear twitching in her sleep.
Orlando smiles softly at him, pressing a gentle kiss to his temple.
“I think we’ll be great dog parents,” she returns before settling into bed.
Astarion is skeptical at first. He quickly finds himself irritated by the puppy’s seemingly boundless energy and uncanny ability to destroy every pair of slippers in the house. Nova gnaws on table legs, pilfers underwear from the hamper, and inexplicably manages to clamp down on a nerve in Astarion’s foot with her tiny needle teeth every time he takes his eyes off her. When she’s not torturing her father, she’s figuring out how to climb various obstacles to retrieve forbidden food items from the kitchen counter or stalking pests in the yard (the latter activity actually being of some help to Astarion and Orlando’s burgeoning garden). The vampire spawn swears to the gods that Nova can understand Common, Elvish, Infernal, and any other coded tongue he tries to use to speak of her in her presence. Not even spelling out “W-A-L-K” or “T-R-E-A-T” seems to work anymore. Her ears perk up at the slightest hint that he and Orlando are talking about the little menace.
Astarion is at his wits end one afternoon when he discovers the pup helping herself to his favorite pair of shoes.
“MY LOAFERS!” Orlando hears Astarion screech from across the house and wonders if all of Baldur’s Gate can hear his outburst, “YOU WRETCHED CREATURE!”
She dashes into the living room where the outburst had emanated from. There Astarion is, hands in his pale hair, the expression on his face far beyond vexed. He is livid, a vein in his neck twitching with irritation. And little Nova looks anything but sorry, her pink tongue lolling out of one side of her mouth, panting happily away while the slaughtered loafers sit unraveled in between her front paws. Orlando is quick to scold her, yanking the shoes away from the dog and waving them in her face while giving her a good lecture. Nova’s ears fall, but her melancholy is short lived. Soon after, Nova is back to playing, this time with a toy pre-approved by her mother and father (who is still fuming).
“You’ve got to be stricter with her,” Orlando reasons, watching as Nova shakes the stuffed bunny rabbit in her mouth with great pride.
“I am!” Astarion retorts, irritation growing as he jabs himself with the needle he is using to mend his ripped-up shoes.
“I think she thinks your reactions are funny,” Orlando posits, stifling a laugh. Astarion casts her a withering gaze.
“And what makes you think that?” he questions, pulling his sewing needle taut. Orlando shrugs, unable to hide her growing smile.
“Well, when you have your outbursts,” she starts, trailing off and passing her beloved a knowing look, “Listen, the more you react, the more she’ll think it’s a game. You’ve got to be swift and even-tempered. She doesn’t get up on the counter anymore because we’ve been quick to correct her. And she doesn’t steal my shoes anymore because my reactions aren’t nearly as entertaining as yours. She gets bored when I scold her. Plus-”
Orlando and Astarion both glance back at Nova, who has fallen fast asleep with her toy still in her mouth. Despite his annoyance with the creature, Astarion can’t help but think she looks rather precious, her soft snores a quiet comfort and her tail occasionally twitching in her sleep.
“She’ll grow out of it soon enough,” the Tiefling finishes, lifting herself from her chair and gliding towards Astarion. She leans down, pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
“Until then, I will buy you as many new loafers as you need,” she teases, giving Nova a kiss on the forehead as well before sauntering back to her office. Astarion pouts to himself for a while, until Nova sidles up to him, done with her nap. She watches him with curiosity as he stitches his loafers back together, her tail wagging enthusiastically. He eyes her with suspicion, garnet eyes locking with her honey-brown ones.
“These are not for you,” he murmurs to her, returning to his activity, “You have your own little bunny rabbit to play with.”
He feels her cold, wet nose nudge his elbow. Astarion once again glances down, meeting Nova’s soulful brown eyes. He is suddenly reminded of Scratch- who Shadowheart now travels with- and feels a pang of heartache. He misses that damn dog, even if he doesn’t want to admit it aloud. He misses playing fetch with him and snuggling up with the snowy fluffball when the nights grew cold. He misses the affection and love Scratch provided; unquestioning and wholehearted. Not that he doesn’t have that with Orlando, but it’s always nice to have more. And here little Nova is; ready to give that to him, even if she is a bit of a terror.
Nova shifts her feet, sitting up straight, her eyes filled with longing. As vexing as this puppy is, she is terribly cute and wickedly intelligent- both things Astarion finds himself admiring in the creature.
Furtively glancing about to make sure Orlando is not in eyesight, Astarion gives Nova a couple of scratches behind her ear.
“If you promise never to touch my slippers ever again,” and he says this last part very seriously, “I will buy you as many bunny toys, bears, and the like as you want.”
Nova paws gently at his leg, and Astarion swears she can understand him. He takes this as her attempt to shake on it. With a tiny smile, the vampire spawn grasps the puppy’s paw in his hand and gives it one light shake.
“Deal,” he confirms, to which Nova gives a small, jovial yip.
***
As the weeks go by, Orlando and Astarion put in a lot of time training Nova, both to ensure she is well-behaved and she is getting the proper mental stimulation for a puppy of her caliber. She learns tricks quickly and strives to make her parents proud by showing off how well she does on her leash or how very good she is at staying when asked to stay.
“She’ll be a good guard dog, the bigger she gets,” Orlando comments one evening after watching Nova growl at the sound of a branch scratching one of the windows. Astarion had never thought of that as a possibility, but it’s a prospect he is looking forward to. Even though he knows Cazador is gone, there will forever remain a paranoid part of him always looking over his shoulder. Having Nova around will alleviate some of that feeling, he thinks.
Nova never loses her cheeky side, delighting in pilfering random objects around the house- though she’s moved on from destroying them and simply enjoys waiting for her parents to discover what it is she’s pilfered. Astarion grows to love her very much, and often, he finds himself talking to Nova while they garden together (she wants to be very involved in all activities, despite not really being able to participate properly, given she has no thumbs). Nova likes to participate in his and Orlando’s nightly bedtime routine, Orlando pretending to put her creams and serums on Nova’s little face while Astarion mimics brushing her hair with his comb. At night, the three of them settle in for sleep, with Nova keeping watch at the foot of the bed. And the larger she grows, the safer Astarion feels.
***
The next addition to their family is a stray kitten, black as the sky on a moonless night and just as beautiful, who had wandered into the garden. One night, Astarion hears a tiny mew from the rosebushes he is tending. When he looks down into the flowerbed, he spots a pair of glowing, green eyes peering at him through the moonlit darkness. There’s a flash of pink from a tiny, sandpaper tongue as the creature lets out another precious mew. Flabbergasted, Astarion merely stares at the little being, who has started to nuzzle against the vampire spawn’s knee. Hesitantly, Astarion reaches a finger out to the kitten, letting its cold, wet nose sniff carefully at him. When it does not move away, Astarion gently strokes its fluffy back and listens to its muted purrs. He feels a smile tug at the corners of his lips.
“Making friends?” Orlando’s voice sounds from above. She is leaning out of the window, a proud beam on her round face.
“It’s rude to eavesdrop,” Astarion snarks back. He hears Orlando chuckle as she withdraws back inside, calling out, “Bring your friend in when you’re ready!”
Astarion abandons his gardening, bringing the little kitten inside, fending off Nova from sniffing the poor thing to death. The tiny creature is swiftly fed, bathed, and falls fast asleep on Astarion’s chest in under an hour. He hasn’t the heart to put her down in the basket he and Orlando had carefully crafted for her, so she remains sleeping in the bed beside them all night long. Nova is endlessly curious about the little cat, but Orlando won’t let the dog get too close.
“Not until we’re sure Nova won’t, you know- bite her, I guess,” Orlando reasons. However, this fear is swiftly assuaged when Astarion and Orlando wake the next morning to find the kitten has made her way towards Nova at the foot of the bed. They are curled up together, the kitten almost hidden in Nova’s fluffy, tan and black fur. This precious sight seals the deal. Astarion coins the little creature, “Bellatrix,” and she becomes a permanent resident in the Ancunin-Moonwater household.
“A new playmate for Nova,” Orlando coos, beaming over the two of them play-wrestling in the living room. Nova is ten times Bellatrix’s size right now but makes sure to play extra gentle. They grow to be fast friends and go practically everywhere with each other.
Astarion smiles, putting his arm around Orlando and drawing her closer. He lays a soft, lingering kiss to her lips.
“What was that for?” the Tiefling replies, a coy twinkle in her eyes.
“Oh, don’t read too much into it,” Astarion teases, turning back to the sweet creatures playing on the rug before him. His eyes flood with affection and Orlando knows precisely what he is thinking without even having to enter his mind. This is home, and with each passing day, more life is breathed into it. Astarion is happy.
A/N: A short, sweet little fluffy chapter to get back into writing this fic :) Just something fluffy and chill! And I couldn't resist giving Astarion and Orlando a puppy and a kitty <3
I am aiming to post new chapters for this fic every other month until it is finished! My goal is to finish it by sometime next year :) Sorry for the long hiatus! I hope you are all doing well! Thanks for the likes and thank you for reading! Lots of love <3

Summary: I don't know what we were; Satoru, Suguru, and I. I wish I could pinpoint an exact feeling, a label for the three of us. But when I look back at those years we spent together, there is only a general sense, a hazy memory of the summer of our youth. A spring breeze carrying perfumed flowers through the air; a soft caress in the open hallways. A gilded summer afternoon; cicadas humming and the sun bathing us in tranquil warmth; limbs tangled despite the heat. Autumn leaves crunching under feet; the crisp bite of winter on the tips of our noses; secret kisses exchanged behind the shelter of a cherry tree. And then bitter winter, when everything changed, and three became two.
It's been ten years since Suguru defected, and Satoru and Siddhi are still picking up the pieces. Their skills as sorcerers and their love for one another will be tested time and again. When a certain sorcerer-turned-salaryman-turned-sorcerer re-enters their lives, they are forced to take a long hard look at the trajectory of their lives. Will they come together, stronger than before, or fall apart entirely? Read here or over on my AO3
Satoru hardly sleeps. So, in the rare moments he does, I try not to disturb him. Even if I am suffering from insomnia, I lay motionless by his side, listening to his soft exhales and watching the subtle motion of his eyes behind their closed lids as he dreams. His slumber is always short lived: a few hours here and there, dozing for a couple of minutes before he jolts awake. But there are nights where he sleeps deeply; when his eyes and his mind are so tired from the constant bombardment of information entering his brain. His weariness pulls him into a heavy slumber, whether he wants it to or not. For a moment, Satoru Gojo can find tranquility in rest.
Sometimes, his peace makes me drowsy again, my eyelids growing heavy and my mind settled now that Satoru’s is. If he can rest, then so can I. Other times, I feel an overwhelming surge of protectiveness come over me. He is at his most vulnerable in slumber, especially if he is tired enough to let his Infinity completely drop (which is very, very rare). I keep watch, eyeing the shadows with suspicion; alert to every sound beyond our sheltered walls. I vow to protect him, and hope that I’m able to from any threat that might present itself.
Tonight, I’m feeling restless, various anxieties jumbling my thoughts, souring my sleep entirely. Satoru lightly dozes beside me, the silver light of the moon threading itself into the snowy strands of his hair, making them almost glow. Visits with the Higher Ups always exhaust him, a feeling I understand all too well. How many times have I been called in to be reprimanded by them? And each time, I want to spend the rest of my day in the comfort of my bed. He hasn’t had a chance to tell me what they said to him, but it is never anything good.
The sorcerer emits a small whimper, twitching in what I imagine to be one of the many nightmares that plague his already troubled sleep. I inch closer, and somehow, he senses my presence, his Infinity slipping long enough for me to begin feathering kisses against his cheekbones while quietly hushing reassurances that he’s safe. Softly, I card my fingers through his hair, nails grazing his scalp. His distress gradually dissipates, quick breaths slowing and heart rate calming to an even thrum again. After a moment, Satoru stirs, cracking an eyelid open, blazing azure beneath pale lashes. I hope he’s had enough of a chance to give his Six Eyes somewhat of a rest; though even in sleep, they remain ever watching.
“You were dreaming,” I whisper to a groggy Satoru, who looks around slightly confused. Weary still, he presses closer to me, draping an arm over my chest and drawing me in.
“Did it sound like a good dream?” he questions. I smile ruefully, keeping silent and answering his question by ghosting my lips against the corner of his mouth. Satoru turns his head slightly, deepening our kiss. His mouth is warm, and his hands search for purchase on my hips before he pulls me into him. My fingers tangle in his hair, feathery strands soft as silk. The world falls away, leaving Satoru and I in the shelter of my living quarters, sequestered at the back of the school, with only the moon and the stars to witness us. I ache for quiet moments like this; moments that are increasingly becoming few and far between. It’s through no fault of our own. There’s just too much happening in the jujutsu world. If Satoru isn’t busy with our students, he’s traveling for work. And if I’m not teaching, I’m out in the field. Hence, our cherished, clandestine rendezvous like this.
We lay in silence for a while, and it feels like a secret I get to share: Satoru’s contemplative silence. Suguru is one of the few others in the world to experience this quiet; but- that was a long time ago now.
Sometimes, I’m afraid to speak; like the Higher Ups might hear us and learn of our relationship. They know we are close, and I’m sure they’ve suspected just how close Satoru and I are. But I don’t need anything or anyone confirming it to them. It will no doubt spell trouble. So, in the stillness, Satoru and I gaze at one another, tracing constellations of freckles on each other’s skin or making love with hands covering mouths or teeth clenching pillows. Tonight, we observe silently, faces centimeters from one another’s, memorizing each other’s features in fear of one day forgetting them.
“They still want to execute Yuta,” Satoru blurts, his voice barely above a whisper. My fingers freeze where they’ve been caressing the nape of Satoru’s neck and I lean back to fully gaze at him. I am met with a grave expression, white brows furrowed and blue eyes filled with sorrow. Sorrow and unmistakable anger. It is an expression I find myself matching. I know all too well the threat of execution by the Higher Ups.
“Why?” I breathe, my tone incredulous.
“Rika at the elementary school,” is all Satoru has to say for me to understand.
“What did you say to them?” I venture after a moment. Satoru’s tongue is sharp, so I know he is likely to have angered the Higher Ups. Not that I can blame him for talking back to the elderly prudes.
“That I was on Yuta’s side,” Satoru responds, proving my suspicions correct. It makes me happy to hear him so open about protecting Yuta, as well. Satoru has always been a champion for the underdogs, but as a teenager, he never admitted it. Now, though, he’s not afraid to show his softer side. It’s hard to believe he was even more blustery back then than he is now.
“You have to wonder why the Higher Ups are so keen on issuing execution orders,” I put forth with a sardonic chuckle, recalling my own life being on the line in my teenage years.
“They’re old fuddy-duddies looking for a good show,” Satoru returns with a yawn, stretching his limbs and looking longer than ever, “They don’t get much action in their geriatric, sequestered lives.”
He snickers to himself, rolling back over and resting his head in the valley between my breasts.
“Well, if it wasn’t already obvious, I’m on Yuta’s side as well,” I confirm. Satoru’s response is muffled against my chest.
“Softie.”
“What does that make you, then?” I tease, glancing down and breathing in the scent of sandalwood trapped in Satoru’s hair. I receive a soft snore in response. It won’t be long before Satoru wakes again, but for now, I allow myself to drift off, comforted by his presence and happy to see he is comforted by mine.
***
“Mangeshkar,” the gruff voice sounds from behind one of the many doors set in a circle around me. I am suddenly fourteen again, trying desperately to hold my tears in and failing miserably. They roll down my cheeks in hot, fat drops, dripping onto my skirt and my clenched hands in my lap. I cannot bring myself to look up from the floor, shame and fear keeping me catatonic where I sit.
“Your threat to society and to the world as a whole has not gone unnoticed,” the voice continues, “Your- incident in America has brought you before us today. Yaga seems to think you have promise in the jujutsu world. We, however, do not see your situation as such.”
I squeeze my eyes shut, gritting my teeth, terrified of what will come next. Surely, this is my end. Fourteen years of not understanding myself; not understanding my own destructive power; of trying desperately to contain it. I hadn’t meant for anyone to get hurt. But the older I’ve gotten, the more difficult it’s become to control her; the other part of me that emerges when the rage takes over.
They were hurting my friends. What was I supposed to do? Stand back idly? No, I wanted to protect them. But I didn’t mean for it to go that far. I didn’t mean for anyone else to get hurt. I-
“Because Yaga is so convinced you are an asset, we will stay our order of execution,” another voice, just as menacing, speaks from a behind a door to my left, “But you are on a very tight leash, Mangeshkar-San.”
“Do not disappoint us.”
***
I wake with a start, painful recollection still lingering on the edges of my mind. It’s one that hasn’t visited my dreams in a long while. Yuta’s acceptance into Jujutsu High has started dragging up a number of memories I have tried hard to bury, perhaps foolishly. These memories will no doubt serve to help me be a better teacher for young Okkotsu. I shake off the discomfort left behind by my dream and resolve to use these recollections to my advantage. Yuta is not alone in his experience, and I should make sure he knows that.
Stretching, I lift myself from the bed. Satoru has long since gotten up, though he made sure to leave his usual note by my bedside. On a scrap of paper, he’s written, “Scoping out some training grounds for the students. See you when I see you. Don’t sleep too late, sleepyhead,” along with a tiny heart and a scribbled drawing of himself winking. I hold the note close to my heart before slipping it into the pocket of my uniform, which is hanging near my closet in preparation for my day. Satoru must have set that out, too, before he left.
It’s still early, sun barely creeping over the horizon, the pale blue light of dawn filtering through the open window behind my bed. Rain patters softly against my roof, sweet-smelling and cool. I had always thought of myself as an early riser, until I met Satoru. Although does it really count if you never sleep? Regardless, he almost invariably beats me to the start of the day. I wish, though, we could have one morning of lazing around; one morning where we can whittle the day away in bed, tangled in each other, lost in the hazy summer sun. Maybe someday, although that’s a dangerous thing to hope for. Inevitably, any wish you make as a sorcerer is stolen away from you- one way or another.
Begrudgingly and yearning for the warmth of both my bed and Satoru’s arms, I dress. I plan to spend the day going over drills with Maki, Panda, Inumaki, and Okkotsu while we await Satoru’s return. When we finish up with our training, I’ll likely meditate for a while. I think that is an activity Yuta would enjoy and something that may help him calm Rika. Or at least calm himself. I resolve to present that idea to him this afternoon.
As I go about my day, my earlier discomfort returns, likely from the memories being dredged up. But there is something else stirring in my heart: an uncertainty; a foreboding feeling. I can’t seem to shake the feeling that Yuta’s arrival marks the start of a larger change. Though what, I do not know nor can I even begin to speculate. All throughout sparring and drill work, I find myself trying to shake off the anxiety. I wish I could pinpoint it beyond a sinking feeling in my stomach or a vague sense of uneasiness.
I catch Yuta’s eye and smile as he lands a strike on Panda.
“Good job!” I call out, receiving a proud beam in return. He’s improving every day, slowly but surely. Yuta’s confidence is growing, but I can still see his hesitance in the swing of his weapons and his nervous gait. His fear of what he houses inside him is all too familiar. But that fear will get him nowhere, or it will doom him to execution. If he can’t get control of Rika, if he allows his fear to rule him, the Higher Ups will have no problem removing Yuta. They see him as Rika, and Rika only. A threat.
I will not allow that to happen. And I know Satoru won’t either. Satoru never gave up on me, nor did Suguru or Shoko. I feel a swell of confidence, determined to help Yuta reach his full potential. It is both my duty and an honor. We are kindred spirits, after all.
Once we’ve run through all our weapon drills, the students disperse to spend their afternoon studying as they see fit. Before Yuta can run off, I call out to him, intending to invite him to meditate with me this afternoon. As I cross the grassy field, I pass one of the puddles left behind from this morning’s drizzle and catch a glimpse of myself. The eyes that stare back at me are not the hazel eyes I see in the mirror each morning. They are blank, milky-white, and unreadable. Yuta and I are truly not so different. Though at least his curse is a separate being. Mine is the other half of me.
First chapter of Starlight will go up later tonight. Then I’ll be onto working on Chapter 7 of Mirror, my Astarion x OC domestic fic. Here is a little sneak peek of what’s to come.
Next was a stray kitten, black as the sky on a moonless night and just as beautiful, who had wandered into the garden. Astarion had heard a tiny mew from the rosebushes he was tending. When he looked down into the flowerbed, he spotted a pair of glowing, green eyes peering at him through the moonlit darkness. There was a flash of pink from a tiny, sandpaper tongue as the creature let out another precious mew. Flabbergasted, Astarion could merely stare at the little being, who had started to nuzzle against the vampire spawn’s knee. Hesitantly, Astarion reached a finger out to the kitten, letting its cold, wet nose sniff carefully at him. When it did not move away, Astarion gently stroked its fluffy back and listened to its muted purrs. He felt a smile tug at the corners of his lips.
“Making friends?” Orlando’s voice sounded from above. She was leaning out of the window, a proud beam on her round face.
The kitten was brought inside, fed, bathed, and fast asleep on Astarion’s chest in under an hour. He hadn’t the heart to put her down in the basket he and Orlando had carefully crafted for her, so she remained sleeping in the bed beside them all night long. The next morning, Astarion coined the little creature, “Bellatrix,” and she has been a permanent resident ever since.
hii! Not sure if ur requests are open atm but I read ur “tempest” one shot and it was so cute 🥹 ik you usually write 18+ stuff and the fluff is more subplot, but do you think you would write something fluffy again sometime? I can also come up with more specific prompts if you like! Just thought I’d ask first if you’d even be up for it🙈
My sincerest apologies for taking so long to respond to this!
Thank you so so much, Anon! That means a lot to me :) Glad you enjoyed Tempest! I had a lot of fun writing it, and I don’t write nearly enough pure fluff!
I’d be happy to do more fluff pieces, and I’m happy to accept fluff requests! My inbox is certainly open for that. Thank you again for your ask, and I hope these months have been treating you well!
A little assortment of birthday headcanons for our beloved ex-salaryman❤️ Happy Birthday, sweet love ❤️ 18+, MINORS DNI. This gets just a teensy bit spicy towards the end.
Nanami's ideal birthday: a quiet day, no work. He gets to wake-up when he wants to, go about his day as leisurely as he wants to, with you by his side ❤️
A stop at his favorite bakery in the morning, picking up pastries and coffee to either take home and share in your sunlit kitchen, or to enjoy if the weather permits at a nearby park.
The two of you share lunch at a cafe he's been wanting to try, but hasn't gotten the chance to yet. It's as delicious as he's been hoping it would be. You insist on paying, but have to secretly slip your card/money to the waiter when Kento isn't looking, because he'll no doubt try to pay anyway. He thanks you profusely, and you can't help but notice the light blush blooming on his angular cheeks.
You tell him that the rest of the day is entirely up to him! With so much freedom, Kento is almost overwhelmed. There's so many options, yet his mind goes blank as soon as he tries to think of something to do.
He opts to take you to a museum he's been meaning to check-out for a while. There's a temporary exhibit on the history of gastronomy in Japan that he wants to check out before it moves on. He looks so concentrated with his furrowed brow and mouth set as he examines all the exhibits and carefully reads every plaque. But when he catches you staring at him, his smile is unmatched, bright like the early-July sun.
After the exhibit, the two of you take a leisurely stroll back home, enjoying the evening breeze and the sunset fading into hues of pink, orange, and purple. Kento presses featherlight kisses to your lips, cheeks, forehead. Anywhere he can when you both pause to admire the setting sun.
If you cook, you have a whole meal planned out for him at home and get straight to work as soon as you arrive. He insists on helping, which inevitably leads to a mid-cook make-out session against the kitchen countertops and dancing around the kitchen to some slow R&B.
If you don't cook, you've already made reservations for Nanami's favorite restaurant! Though he's got expensive taste, his favorite restaurant is actually a tiny hole-in-the-wall with the best damn beef rendang you've ever had. His dry wit makes an appearance, and your sides hurt from laughter by the time the two of you are done with dinner. It's been a long time since you've seen Kento smile and laugh like this, and it fills your being with warmth.
Afterwards, you surprise Kento with your gift to him. Good gift options for him include: cookbooks or baking recipes, a bread maker or other bread making necessities, a personalized apron, surprise tickets to Malaysia.
As the evening winds to a close and the stars begin to dot the sky, you and Kento steal away into your shared bedroom. You've bought new lingerie just for this occasion: a set you'd been eyeing that Kento seemed to be thrilled by ("I think you'd look lovely in that one," he had commented in passing, but you could see the tips of his ears turning bright red. You ordered it as soon as he was out of sight).
You push Kento back onto the bed, letting him lay back against the pillows, an impish smile on your face. Your eyes glint mischievously in the flickering candlelight as you tell him that it's time for him to relax. You'll do all the work tonight.
Your shared room is filled with Nanami's husky grunts and quiet proclamations of his love for you. You make sure to give him a good shoulder and back massage to relieve his stress, among your other stress-relieving ministrations that night ❤️
You hold him close as the two of you drift off to sleep. "Thank you for a wonderful birthday," Kento breathes, his voice crackly with exhaustion. He presses one more deep, lingering kiss to your lips, just to let you know that this was probably the best birthday he's ever had ❤️
Bonus: Kento isn't much of a surprise party person, but Yuji might insist upon throwing one. In which case, if it's Itadori that is insistent upon one, Nanami might make an exception. He'll act all crotchety and grumpy about it, but everybody knows that, deep down, he's appreciative. Gojo will try to take him out for karaoke, Nanami will refuse.
WIP Wednesday featuring a snippet from an upcoming JJK fanfic, titled Starlight (featuring Touch Starved Gojo, implied past Gojo x OC x Geto, and future Gojo x OC x Nanami, lots of angst, lots of comfort, lots of spice). TW: Grief
When I finally get a moment of solitude, my feet carry me to Suguru’s old bedroom. It is stuffy after years of abandonment, but clean. A single lamp illuminates the space. Memories are trapped in every surface, ghosts in every corner. His scent still lingers, a whisper in my nose that threatens to shatter what little composition I have left. My breath fills my chest, halting in my throat and my lungs grabbing hold of it. Choking back a sob, I let my body navigate me towards Suguru’s bed, where I fold into myself for an immeasurable amount of time.
Sometime in the night, when the moon is high, the door to Suguru's old room opens and shuts. I look up and meet Satoru's gaze. Gone is his carefree mask, and in its place is the deep well of sorrow Satoru sits huddled at the bottom of. His eyes are distant; his shoulders slumped under a weight I can hardly imagine. He is already a creature of solitude, and he has just lost the person most near to him.
"I can leave, if you need privacy," I murmur, my voice quavering, tears still rolling down my cheeks. He holds up his hand to stop me from getting up from Suguru's bed. I've been trapped in my own head this evening, lost in Suguru's scent. The mattress sinks beside me as Satoru joins me on it. There is a heavy pause, and suddenly I feel as if I'm drowning. Until Satoru crumples into my embrace, and we both let out shuddering, silent sobs.

Hi everyone! So I decided I would repost some of my favorite headcanons from my old blog. Sorry if you've seen these already, but I just wanted to have them up on my Tumblr (in addition to where they are on AO3). Just as a heads up: I do not take requests. Hope you enjoy :) As with all my headcanons: Apprentice/MC is gender-neutral unless otherwise specified. This isn't new content, just organizing my new blog and transferring stuff from my old one. This will be part of headcanon Tuesday on my blog.
You and Asra have been together for a long time now, long enough where people just sort of assume you're already married. You live together, you run your shop together, you travel together, and so on. Nothing has really been stopping you, it's just that the two of you have been so busy these last few years. Asra really wants to make it official with you, though. You're the absolute love of his life. He hardly remembers a time before you. You've been on a great many journeys together, but he wants to go on even more. So he starts planning...
One evening, when you close up shop, Asra tells you he has a special surprise waiting for you. He's got that mischievous glint in his eye that he always gets when he's up to something. You can't help but laugh as Asra instructs you to wear something that you'd wear to the beach ("Like a swimsuit?" you ask, skeptically. The smirk on Asra's face grows wider and he shrugs, "I don't know. Whatever you wear to the beach." So helpful, Asra)
Asra guides you down to the shoreline, but doesn't stop there. He keeps going until you get to this secluded little cove. From here, you can see the far off lights of Vesuvia twinkling under a dark, velvet sky. Asra lets you pause to take in the view before beckoning you to follow him again. He leads you into a small cave, pitch black at its entrance. You're about to ask him where on earth he's leading you when all of a sudden you're met with bursts of magic like tiny fireworks and glowing mist swirling gently above and around you. Asra smiles softly at you, that impish glint growing brighter with each step you take.
The cave leads out to a small alcove that opens up onto the water. It's absolutely gorgeous. It's like you can see the whole ocean from here. It's here that Asra sets up a small picnic for you, filled with all your favorite foods and desserts and drinks! "MC, will you lay out the blanket for me? I have to grab something from the basket," he asks. You don't think much of it, though there's something a bit strange in his voice. When you're finished with your task, you whirl around and there's Asra, on one knee, holding out a beautiful, bohemian style ring. "MC, you have my heart, and always will. We've been on all kinds of journeys together. But I want to go on even more with you. I wanted to know if you'd like to share all of life's many adventures with me?" His voice is calm but his hands are shaking. And when you say yes, happy tears stream down his face. He slips the ring on your finger before crashing his lips into yours. Asra is utterly delighted💜
Nadia has been a bit wary of marriage since her first one turned out so poorly. But with you, everything's different. She's ecstatic, actually, to marry you and has been planning her proposal for basically an eternity now. She wants it to go just right. She has checklists, plans, spreadsheets, and so on for this proposal (none that you're privy to, she keeps them very well hidden). She almost had a heart attack one day when you walked into her office while she was working out some bugs in her plans (though she kept her cool so well, you didn't even notice).
The day she's planning to propose to you, however, everything goes wrong. The florist brings the wrong flowers (Nadia had specifically asked for orchids, but they brought white roses and she shudders, thinking of Lucio). All of the musicians she had in her string quartet canceled, except for the bassist (she sighs, supposing you could have a good background beat when she proclaims her undying love for you). And to top it all off, it's pouring rain (she was planning on proposing out on the veranda, under the pinks and oranges of a beautiful sunset, but alas). She's not upset, just extremely disappointed. All that planning and for what? No matter, she'll simply have to switch gears, she tells herself calmly (but she is anything but calm).
She sends everybody home (florist, bassist, caterers, and so on). When you enter the palace, you're practically drenched from your walk from your shop. Nadia is waiting for you, prepared with a towel and warm tea (or cocoa, whatever you prefer). She directs you to one of the many fireplaces and sits you down on a chaise lounge. You beg her to come snuggle up beside you, excited to have her all to yourself that evening, but she simply stands before you, fidgety and anxious looking. She's acting strangely, her crimson eyes hardly able to make contact with you. "Nadia, what's wrong?" you venture, and all of a sudden, Nadia freezes like she's just seen a ghost. You've never seen her this worked up before. It's quite alarming, actually!
You open your mouth to say something more, worry furrowing your brows, when all of a sudden, Nadia takes a deep breath. She kneels down to the ground in front of you and takes both your hands in hers. Her air of calm returns and soothes you out of your initial concern. "MC," she begins in her dulcet tone, "I'd planned out this- elaborate evening for us and, of course, I was thwarted," she laughs a little, her smile crinkling the corner of her eyes, "It's a long story, but suffice to say, just having you here, snuggling up by the fire together- well, I'd say that's a pretty perfect evening, in and of itself. So I'll take this perfect moment to ask you..." She pulls something out from the pocket of her dress. It's a square, velvet box that she opens, revealing an elegant, sparkling ring. "MC, will you marry me?" She holds her breath, watching your stunned face as you go through a thousand different emotions at once (all of them good). When you say yes, she exhales, tears falling gently down her cheeks as she slips the ring on your finger and presses her lips tenderly to yours 💜
Julian (oh, Julian). He's probably been carrying a ring around in his pocket for months now, waiting for the right time to propose to you, but too nervous to do it. You fluster him like no one else does. Every time he thinks he's found the right moment, a little seed of worry stops him (what if you say no? what if you say absolutely no? what if you just look at him like he's crazy and say nothing? what if he drops the ring???). Literally nothing is stopping him, except his own anxiety about how he thinks you could potentially maybe possibly react.
The two of you are wandering the streets of Vesuvia one afternoon, hopping from market to market, looking for some ingredients. There's nothing really special about today, but when Julian looks at you, he feels his heart just swell with adoration. This was the day, he thinks. The time is right. But he wants to do it somewhere a little more private, a little less hectic. So Julian directs you to that garden the two of you once hid from the guards in. "What are we doing here?" you question, raising a perplexed eyebrow at him. He merely smirks, waggling his eyebrows in return, "You'll see." He tells you there's something interesting about one of the statues and directs you to take a look at it. You acquiesce, with a bit of hesitance, but Julian is Julian, so him acting sort of weird like this isn't that much of a surprise. It's obviously all a ploy so he can distract you while he pulls out the ring.
So, of course, now that it's the right moment and Julian feels a swell of confidence, he realizes, Good God, I've lost the ring. He could've sworn it was in his coat pocket. Like, it was there yesterday, wasn't it? He's frantically patting himself down, feeling every inch of his coat, his pants. He even looks in his boots. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Did it fall out last night at the Rowdy Raven? Was he pickpocketed? Was there a hole in his pocket? What on earth was he to do now that he didn't have the ring? He whirls around, looking frantically for something circular he might be able to use as a replacement until he finds it again. And then he wonders if he should just hold off?
"Hey, Julian, honey," your voice pipes up from behind him, startling the poor man out of his thoughts. He's even more alarmed (and embarrassed) when he turns around and sees you holding up the little black box that was storing your ring. "I think you dropped this," you say, trying everything in your power to not burst into giggles, "It was on the ground right in front of you." Of course it was. You hand the box over to Julian and with a small smile add, "I'll pretend I didn't see it." You give him a small peck on the cheek before turning back to the statue he'd directed you to. Loudly and overenthusiastically, you exclaim how interesting the statue is, allowing Julian to pull himself together. With a renewed wave of confidence, Julian kneels to the ground. "MC?" he begins, gaining your attention again. You whirl around, a knowing smile tugging at your lips as you’re greeted by Julian's blushing face. "I know I've rightly fumbled this proposal," he laughs, his eyes already glimmering with tears, "But you've turned this salty old dog into a bumbling, flustered, happy mess. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Would you be the captain to my first mate?" You burst out laughing, and Julian's heart stops in his chest. "Of course!" you cry, practically throwing yourself into his arms. His worry is quickly forgotten as he slips a timeless, antique ring on your finger and captures your lips in his 💜
Portia is quite good at keeping secrets, so while the two of you have discussed getting married, she absolutely does not let on about her plans of proposing to you. You are totally in the dark about them, much to her delight. She has the perfect thing planned for the two of you! She goes out shopping for everything she needs for a romantic dinner at her cottage. She even manages to subtly find out from you what kind of ring you'd want. The night before she plans to propose to you, she's so giddy, she can hardly sleep!
The next morning, she lets you sleep for however long you need to (but not too late, she's got a schedule to keep to!). Once you've gotten ready for the day, Portia takes you out to go on an adventure! Since you both have the day off, it's time to do some exploring. She won't tell you where you're going, though. "You'll just have to trust me!" she winks, taking your hand in hers and bounding off towards town. The two of you start in the markets, where you first met. Portia describes to you how positively adorable she thought you were on your first meeting. She'd spilled all those pomegranates everywhere, but you were so kind to help her pick them all up! She was taken with you immediately.
Portia takes you on an entire tour of Vesuvia, stopping at all the places that are significant to you, and even places you just pass every day that you hadn't even realized carried so much meaning. With each stop, she describes something important about your relationship with her. "It was here that we had our first kiss, and there that we first danced. Oh! And here's where that guy tried to pickpocket you-" But you cut in to finish the story, bubbling with laughter, "And you started threateningly waving that basket at him! The look on his face! He was so scared of you, Portia." The two of you double over with laughter. Once you calm down, you start walking back to Portia's cottage. "Why are you doing all of this today?" you question, smiling gently and feeling a bit confused. Portia shrugs, cryptically responding with, "Just feeling a bit nostalgic, I guess."
The sky is bright with the colors of the sunset when you finally return to the cottage. As you're about to enter, Portia whirls around and exclaims, "Oh! Can you grab one of those yellow squash from the garden? I need it for our dinner tonight!" You head back towards the garden, not even an inkling of suspicion in your mind. You spot the best looking, ripest squash in the bunch and start to tug and twist at its stem when you notice something glinting on one of the curly vines shooting off of it. It's a ring, you realize as you pick it up, and quite a lovely looking one, too! It's bright and colorful. You turn to call to Portia, wanting to share your discovery with her, but when you whirl around, she's already kneeling before you, a bright beam on her face. She giggles at your flabbergasted look and says, "MC, this is where I want us to make our home. Well, our home we can come back to in between adventuring. But I've also realized that no matter where we go, I think I've found my home in you. Would you do me the honor of being my adventure companion, for life?" Before you can even say anything, Portia knows your answer by the way your eyes light up, but she waits for you to say it anyway. When you're finally able to speak, Portia slips the ring on your finger before pulling you into a tight embrace, pressing her lips fervently against yours 💜
Muriel wants to marry you so badly, but he's so worried about what you would say if he proposed to you. Do you even want to marry him? Is that something you've even thought about? Is that something you could even comprehend with him? He works himself up into an anxious mess, but he doesn't show it. But you've helped him discover how to be kinder to himself, to be more confident. He loves you with all of his heart and wants to spend the rest of his life making you happy.
Muriel sets to work immediately. He doesn't have any grand plans for your proposal, but only because he knows you'd each want something quiet. His first order of business is the ring. He decides he's going to craft it himself. Secretly, he gathers all his materials and works during times that you're out of the house. If he doesn't know how to shape metal or set a stone into a ring, he learns. He'll spend the rest of his life, learning and growing with you, and he's delighted. After he finishes the ring (and he's sure that it's absolutely perfect), he starts to practice what it is he's going to say. He sits in front of Inanna and goes through a variety of speeches he's worked out in his head. But absolutely none of them seem right. He fumbles over the words, starts to feel emotional when he delves into the intricacies of his love for you (why can't he stop crying when he talks about how grateful he is to have met you? how is he even going to propose at this rate?!).
Finally, Muriel settles on writing it down. He drafts a short, but sweet little proposal and rolls it up. He keeps it hidden somewhere you won't go looking and waits for the right opportunity to bring it out. Now there's the question of when he's going to propose. He wants the timing to be just right. But what would "just right" be? He could cook you a nice dinner and propose when you return from the shop one day. He could hide the ring in the chicken feed and wait for you to discover it while you're helping him feed them (but then there was the risk of accidentally feeding a chicken the ring, and the thought spooks him). Brainstorming practically keeps him up all night. And absolutely nothing he comes up with seems right.
The next morning, Muriel rises before you do. He's hardly slept, but he simply can't stay in bed any longer. The anxiety he's getting from trying to come up with the perfect proposal is just too much. He sits down at your breakfast table and sips at a mug of that lemon tea you bought him a few weeks ago. It's warm and citrusy and comforting. As he mulls over even more possibilities, he gazes across the room at your slumbering form. You look so peaceful and calm. He feels a swell of adoration for you, and suddenly, an idea occurs to him. He quietly calls Inanna over to him and enacts his plan. As the sun starts to stream through the windows of the hut, you groggily stretch and open your eyes. The first thing you see is Inanna padding over to the bed, carrying something gently in her mouth. "Good morning, Inanna. What's that you've got there?" you begin sleepily, reaching for whatever it is she has. It's a little wooden box with a small scroll attached to it. Curious, you unroll the piece of paper first. In Muriel's messy handwriting is written, "MC, you've shown me how to love myself. I hope to be able to show you how much I love you, too. For the rest of my life, I promise to cherish you. Will you marry me?" Speechless, you open up the wooden box. Inside is an intricately carved ring with a raw emerald in the center. You look up to see Muriel striding towards the bed, a blush spreading across his cheeks. You toss aside the covers and throw your arms around him. "Yes, Muriel! Yes!" you cry, happy tears streaming down both your face and his. He pulls you into a warm embrace and presses his lips tenderly to yours 💜
Lucio is incapable of keeping a secret, so you pretty much know that he's going to propose to you pretty soon. You've heard him (loudly) discussing it with his friends and attendants, trying to plan out the perfect day. You don't really hear the details, but you definitely know it's coming. Lucio is beside himself with glee during the planning process. He has so many ideas, it's actually hard for him to settle on just one.
First order of business is the ring, but he's pretty much got that covered right away. He's had it custom made and it's as elaborate and glamorous as possible. There's no way he's letting your elegant hands be tarnished by anything less than the best. Second order of business: the flowers. Your favorites, of course, and then a plethora of white roses. He wants bouquets upon bouquets. You have to be surrounded by flowers, wherever it is that he ends up proposing to you. Then there's the venue. The palace gardens? A yacht party? A masquerade ball? There are so many brilliant possibilities, can't he just do all of them? Lucio, after some talking down from some of the other M6, settles on the finest restaurant in Vesuvia (but he has some extra surprises in the day for you). He scores you the best seats in the house and makes all kinds of special requests for the menu.
The day of the proposal, you're awoken with breakfast in bed, and your first set of bouquets. Lucio is ecstatic, practically bouncing off the walls. He promises you a day of luxury and non-stop fun! It's all a bit overwhelming, but you can tell Lucio put a lot of work into trying to plan something elaborate and romantic for the two of you. There's a carriage ride around Vesuvia (with more flowers), a couples massage/spa day before a light lunch (and even more flowers), a hot air balloon ride in the evening (and even more flowers, did Lucio just massacre an entire field of flowers?). All the while, Lucio makes sure to tell you all the things he finds adorable about you and all the things he loves. "MC, I think you and I are the greatest couple in Vesuvia. No, this side of the continent. No! The whole entire world," he proclaims as you look out over the sprawling streets of the city from where you hover above in your hot air balloon. You simply laugh at all of his grandiose claims, laughs that Lucio silences with sneaky kisses.
Upon landing, you set out for your dinner. He really did score not only the most expensive and exclusive restaurant in Vesuvia, but the best seats in the house. You're seated on the balcony, overlooking the water below. The breeze is lovely and the sky is twinkling with starlight. Lucio has made arrangements for your meal already. They come in tiny tasting portions, but there's plenty of food so there's no need to worry about not getting enough. Over dessert, Lucio holds your hand, entwining his fingers with yours and staring rather impishly into your eyes. He wears a mischievous smirk and you have a feeling you know what's coming. So when the champagne arrives and you spot something glinting at the bottom of your glass, you're not surprised. But you are absolutely delighted. Lucio fishes the ring out for you (he struggles a bit trying to get the prongs of a fork to hook around the metal, but he manages). He looks confident, but his hands are trembling as he kneels down in front of you. "MC, I really mean it when I say I think we're the greatest couple in the world," he begins, smiling brightly up at you, his pale eyes twinkling, "Together, I think we can take it by storm. They won't know what hit 'em! Want to make us The official power couple of Vesuvia? No, the whole world!" His proposal is utterly ridiculous, so you can't help but laugh. "Yes, Lucio. Just promise me you don't actually have any plans of world domination," you laugh as Lucio slips the huge, sparkling ring on your finger. He shrugs, winking at you before lifting you up and twirling you around in his delight. He embraces you tightly and passionately ensnares your lips in his 💜
Bonus points if Lucio takes a swig out of the wrong glass and nearly chokes on the ring (because that is something he would totally do).
